There’s a special kind of magic that begins when the last cable car leaves at 4 p.m. and you’re left almost alone at the top of the mountain. It’s an unforgettable experience. The views are among the most breathtaking I’ve ever seen, with beautiful hiking trails and even a playground right next to the hotel. The view from the room is incredible – you can relax on a sun lounger on the terrace and simply take it all in (there are even blankets for cooler evenings!). The staff were absolutely lovely. Special thanks to the kind waitress, the kitchen staff, and the person who welcomed us at check-in. They made our stay even more special. Breakfasts were tasty, and the dinners were truly delicious with prices that are reasonable by Swiss standards.

The only small downside was the lack of an in-room kettle for coffee or tea, but with a restaurant on site, it wasn’t a big issue.

Staying at a small mountaintop hotel with one of the greatest views ever and a friendly attentive staff was incredible. This is not a typical hotel experience, it’s for those who love natural beauty looking for a unique experience and the chance to enjoy the mountain in the evening and early morning hours before the crowds of tourists swarm up on the chairlifts when the weather is good. (This location can only be reached by chairlift from Stoos that stops at 4pm.) In 3 days, we experienced a pea-soup fog, clear and cold above a sea of fog, a blanket of snow, and warm and sunny with views all the way to Zurich. We got to see the fields of closed white wild crocuses covered in dew then open a few hours later. We got to have the viewing platform all to ourselves when the mountains were blanketed in snow. Unfortunately also saw the tourists behaving badly and ignoring both safety and good manners after the chairlifts started running, and even needlessly crushing wildflowers everywhere for their selfies. But staying here lets you enjoy the mountain in peace and quiet. Get the half pension because there’s nowhere else to eat at night, but dinner was excellent and very worth it. Breakfast was okay, with a few items (like the chocolate croissants) worth writing home about. I almost cancelled because of expected weather, but I’m really glad we didn’t. It was a richer experience for the variety of weather. If you get the pass that lets you go up and down the chairlifts and Stoosbahn all you want, you can also hike up and down to Stoos, with a chairlift station halfway. I didn’t do this hike myself but one of our party did and except for a few very steep stretches (bring real hiking boots) it was a reasonably easy walk for a hiker. This is a truly special place.

I only wish they had Birchermuesli for breakfast but I recognize it’s expensive to do for a small number of guests. They did offer a nice variety of breakfast food. There was literally nothing not to like except the few tourists behaving badly in the crowds that come up on a sunny day. Bizarrely Booking uploaded random photos from other locations from my album and doesn’t give a clear way for me to delete them. There are some city pics from Schwyz randomly interspersed with the photos from Fronalpstock, sorry.

We went there for the view and to hike. We needed a place to stay for 2 nights to avoid going back and forth the chair lift and funicular. The food was awesome. Service phenomenal. It was hot the week we came, and we were sleeping with the window and back porch door open. After the chair lifts are done, we have the entire place all to ourselves. It was magical. Will definitely book here again. Only difficult part was getting there. A bit of a hike with suitcases in Stoos and up the chair lifts.

There were flies all over, but probably uncontrollable because of the region and livestock.

Breathtaking view! Once in a lifetime experience. At the entrance of Stoos Ridge we came to see the view from the hike, but the mountain and lake view from the hotel was fabulous. The cows, sheep and goats with the clinging bells right outside the bedroom balcony was so was so much fun. The staff is amazing and very helpful! The included dinner and breakfast was very traditional and appreciated as we were hungry travelers and there are no other food options anywhere around.

It is a feat of engineering to get a hotel with a restaurant at the top of a mountain surrounded by a cattle pasture! It seems petty to complain about flies. But coming from a cattle farm ourselves, the flies were aggressive in the hotel every where.

This place was a pleasant surprise. We knew the rooms would have amazing views because that's the reason we booked, but there were so many additional bonuses. The room itself was super spacious and modern and you had access to the shared balcony directly from your room. The gondola's stopped running at 10PM that day but on a regular day in the summer season the last gondola is at 5:30PM, so during sunset you have access to the ridge with little to no crowds. Once the sun was down we had amazing views of the stars right outside our room. The owner was very accommodating and the food was solid. It was totally worth the stay.

We had a little difficulty communicating with staff at this location. Up until this point we had not had any issues communicating with anyone in Switzerland. A majority of the staff spoke very little English so we often had to find the owner to ask our questions or to navigate food. At some point one of the staff just walked into our room without warning and we still don't know what he had come into the room for. Also be aware that the hotel is located beneath the restaurant and patio. Earlier in the day if you were standing on the balcony outside your room, you had people above you talking and drinking. It wasn't an issue for us, but if there had been a bigger crowd or more noise it may have been a problem.

We arrived when it was beginning to snow at the top of the mountain... the ride up was a little chilly but thankful for the covered lift. The hotel was quiet but probably because no one was up there at that time due to the later hour and no visibility. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was pleasant. Woke up early the next morning and hiked to the other lift and rode down. Our stay was great.

Only complaint was lack of visibility at the top-which is obviously not there fault at all. Would have loved to know it was snowing at the first lift and we could have grabbed some extra stuff for our packs. We were told a the 2nd lift it was snowing further up.

The view, the staff are friendly and welcoming, the proximity to hikes and trails in the area, the cleanliness in the rooms. Was a really fun and enjoyable two nights stay.

The "balcony" was for us a terrace - maybe it is due to different use of language that made the misunderstanding. But it did not affect our experience and the wonderful view. Except that some day tourists wondered into the "balcony"/"terrace" and sometimes they peeked into the room due to curiority and that was little bit strange experience. Maybe the management could cordon the "balcony/Terrace" off? OR choose a room without "balcony".

The location is breathtaking. Well worth the hassle of getting our luggage up the chairlifts to spend a night there with fabulous food, cute baby goats, excellent service and the magic of watching the sunset and having the place to ourselves. We enjoyed the breakfast the next morning and felt like VIP’s as no one was up on the mountain for the sunrise.

It’s tricky to get your belongings there and you need to buy the experience pass (x2 days) to get down afterwards. Accomodation was fine with everything you need for a comfortable stay but the service was excellent- the host was amazing and very funny.

The location was out of this world. You are at staying at the top of the mountain with 360 panoramic views of 6 lakes, tons of mountain peaks. The rooms are sparse but we had lovely sling back chairs to sit on our terrace It is not a balcony but really you are looking I over the world., so almost. We went and got the sheepskin available upstairs to line our chairs. Pored some wine and snuggled under fuzzy blankets provided in our room to cosy up in and took in the amazing views outside our room. Dinner was very tasty with no complaints, but the hotel manager Kai made our night. Super funny and entertaining he kept the tables in stitches. What is nice is there are only 8 rooms so very few people staying over night. We had a lovely chat with a family from Australia. Breakfast was fantastic. Fresh croissants, juice etc etc etc. Be aware the rooms are sparse and the shower very tiny. ALSO, BEAWARE YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE A SEPERATE MOUNTAN PEAK EXOERIENCE UP AND DOWN LIFT TICKET OF 75 swiss francs or get a multi use day pass. This is not included in your room fee.

Paying the life ticket. The size of the shower and I am not big.

Amazing location and quite secluded from the rest of the town which is a huge plus. Ski lifts close at approximately 5:30pm which leaves the mountain top all to yourself and other guests of the hotel. Great opportunity to take some amazing photos without the crowds. It should be noted that in order to get to the hotel, you will need to access the ski lifts before 5:30pm and have to do it with the luggage. When you arrive at the funicular, let them know you are staying at the hotel to get a discount on the lifts. Although there was a discount, it cost us $170 euro return that should be considered with the accomodation. Car parking at the bottom was easy and only cost $10 euro for the covered parking. The most impressive part of the location was the views. Watch the sunset one evening and wake up and watch the sunrise the next. Simply breathtaking. Both bedrooms overlooked the view of the lake and mountains. The balcony came off the bedroom which made it unforgettable. Got out on our sun lounges and watched the sunset and stars. The hotel room was super clean and had a bedroom and a sofa bed in the other room. Both comfortable for our family of four. We had two bathrooms with the accomodation which was a huge plus as well. Good connection to wifi for the kids. We booked the half board which was dinner at the hotel which is a must unless you want to bring your own food. Dinner was delicious and the breakfast was good as well. Having the ability to do the Stoos Ridge hike before everyone else is a plus as you can get the mountains top to yourself if you want to capture great photography. Communication with the owner was superb. Very attentive hosts and was always kind and friendly. However, would not allow a late checkout beyond 9:30am. Although it was pricey (approx. $800 euro for one night includes car park and lifts) it was a great experience.
