Very friendly hosts. Delicious breakfast with locally sourced produce. Great location for exploring. Great shower

The double bedroom was on the smaller side. I would have preferred more guest information about exploring lyme regis. Such as local leaflets etc. The host agreed to make sandwiches for two, to take out for the first day and the evening of the next day (this was advertised in the guest information for an evening offer) this was basic cheese and a jam sandwich, bannana, and two packets of crisps. I was very shocked to be charged £50 for these sandwiches and bits at checkout and felt I had to pay. I was incredibly grateful to the host for making these, but had I known it was going to be £50 I would have purchased sandwiches out. Even with labour and time, this was way above what I would have expected to pay.

A lovely place to stay! Dower House is tastefully decorated and furnished with modern touches but still in keeping with its beautiful Victorian architecture. Neil and Rosemarie are very welcoming, friendly hosts who gave us great recommendations. Great breakfast choice which was delicious and plentiful.

We stayed in one of their smaller bedrooms which was small but perfectly formed with lovely views of the garden. If we were to book again (and I hope we will) we'd book one of the bigger rooms which we were lucky enough to see and are lovely!

Huge & very comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast. Best poached eggs we’ve ever had. We were told they were laid that morning. Welcoming & helpful owners. Lovely garden. Swimming pool looked nice although wasn’t warm enough to swim. Dog owners breakfasted in the bar & non dog owners breakfasted in the dining room. Both very nice rooms & a sensible way to keep everyone happy. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Nothing really. We were in the Somer Rooms which was lovely but there wasn’t room for our 2 suitcases which we left in the car & just had overnight bags in the room. This was fine for us & room was very nice. There are larger rooms if you want more space. Booking direct would enable you to ask about room size.

I think this was probably the nicest hotel I've ever stayed at. The room was gorgeous and the owners so friendly, relaxed and helpful. The whole place had such a nice vibe to it. Breakfast was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. We felt the owners really took pride in making sure guests were happy and comfortable. We stayed here to break up our journey to Cornwall but I would return just to stay at this hotel again (and hopefully use the pool if the weather was better). We stayed at another hotel in Bath on the way home (which I won't name) paid the same and the difference was stark. The Dower House Hotel in Lyme Regis is everything a hotel should be and more, a real gem.

Nothing. Everything was excellent.

House is situated in a beautiful location, the grounds were lovely and well taken care of. The owner and staff were super friendly, felt like home from home. The room was amazing, had the most stunning views of the countryside (we also loved seeing the Great Danes out of our window). You aren’t far from Lyme Regis. The breakfast was really good quality, really tasty. I would 100% recommend and hope we will be back ourselves. You can tell that this hotel is well loved, a lot of care and hard work is put into it to make it such a beautiful place to stay.

The hosts are warm and welcoming. We stated in the Luxury Suite, which was exceptionally clean, comfortable and spacious. The feature copper bath was impressive; backed up with 5 star hotel standard high water pressure (an important detail with these large baths!) The room is very reasonably priced for the standard. Very good tea and coffee facilities in the room provided with fresh milk. Do not skip breakfast, which is prepared to perfection with friendly, unpretentious service. You also get a very good cup of tea with it. This hotel is all about the details (e.g. high water pressure, freshly squeezed orange juice with breakfast, good wine list). Exceptional all round.

Nothing.

We have just returned home after spending a few days in Dorset. We stayed at the Dower House and really enjoyed our stay with Neil and Rosemarie. Their hotel has a warm and friendly feel and they were very welcoming. Our bedroom was beautifully decorated (though the bed was a bit too soft for us - we spoke to Rosemarie the following day and she very kindly sorted out the mattress for us and we slept very well the following nights) and the on-suite very well positioned and very clean. Breakfast was very delicious too, we had a full English breakfast each day. We would definitely return and would also recommend this accommodation to others

Friendly owners, dog friendly & great dog walking area. Excellent two course table service breakfast

Bed quilt to heavy for time of year, consequently too hot & didn’t sleep. Additional £15 charge on check out for dog which I wasn’t made aware of on booking.com. Not that I mind paying for the dog as extra cleaning for owners but would have been nice to have been advised when booking. Also owners surprised when we turned up with dog even though dog friendly. Didn’t see an option when booking to confirm a dog?

Loved the relaxed vibe of the hotel and owners. Lovely warm welcome and really nice to come back from a day out and be greeted so warmly. Both owners were lovely and I really enjoyed the way they did breakfasts so carefully, really taking care of each guest. Room was great, very comfy bed and lovely drinks can be made in the room which were very welcome after a day on the beach. Huge bonus for us was the large dog run at the front of the property which meant that I could easily play ball with my dog without risking disturbing other guests. Everything was well thought out.

Only tiny suggestion was that in the folder with info on the hotel a little more information could be given on how breakfast is run.. just might have been helpful to have had it in black and white that we could choose any table at breakfast and that once seated somebody would attend to us very quickly and take our order for drinks and then we could order from the breakfast menu. Travelling with my non-top-chatting son means that being warned of things like this, and if possible the food choices available at breakfast, gives me time and a quiet opportunity to make a sensible choice before somebody comes to take my order. Other than that it was a perfect stay, thank you!

We loved the house and the space around it. The room was very spacious and had every detail thought of: tea, coffee, biscuits, toiletries, etc. very clean and the bathroom was amazing! We brought our dog too and were very pleased that the owners had a dedicated area for the dogs to run around and play freely. Great breakfast too. But most of all, the owners Neil and Rosemarie and their team were absolutely wonderful, made us feel very welcomed and looked after.
