We spent three nights at Rye Hill Farm as a couple and had a truly lovely stay. The location is peaceful and beautifully set in the countryside, yet still close to Hexham and Hadrian’s Wall. It was the perfect base for exploring the area. Our family room was clean, spacious, cozy, and well-equipped — just what we needed to relax after a day of hiking and sightseeing. The bed was comfortable, and everything was well-maintained. Parking was great. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We felt genuinely looked after. Breakfast was delicious, with quality local ingredients and a nice selection. We really appreciated the quiet, the views, and the authentic farm atmosphere. It’s a great place to unwind and enjoy nature. We would definitely recommend Rye Hill Farm to anyone looking for a peaceful rural getaway.

If you think if an idyllic country farmhouse, this is it! Beautiful farmhouse / barn converted into a wonderful B&B with lots of animals around which was lovely. I loved the family touches of having photos on the walls of when they first started the B&B. Having books and maps of the local area was also really helpful. The property was immaculate and cannot fault it's cleanliness. Great selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolates in the room which were replenished. Bed was super comfy and slept so well after 2 long days out walking/visiting local attractions. Breakfast was lovely, Elizabeth does a fabulous spread and it's lovely to look out onto her garden.

The local pubs are not always open, so might need to go for a short drive to the local town of Hexham or Corbridge, but they're both very quaint places to visit. Other than that, nothing!

Rye Hill Farm is in an idyllic, quiet and stunning location and we (family with teen) would return in a heartbeat. We loved the countryside, sheep and proximity to beautiful small towns and Hadrian's wall. Breakfast included a good variety of quality options including self-serve (yoghurt, homemade bread, cereals, etc.), good tea and coffee, and a hot breakfast cooked to order. The host was easily available and absolutely lovely. We appreciated all of the details of the historic farm in the room and surroundings. We stayed in the family room and appreciated the real twin bed in addition to the larger one. As for the area, we loved visiting Vindolanda and walking along the wall from the Steel Rigg Car Park (less than 5 minute walk to the wall from the parking lot and the option of going further).

In case one cares about soft vs. firm, the large bed in the family room was pretty soft, but we still slept well. Please note that restaurants in the area may need reservations and dinner is served quite early. Arriving at 7pm was apparently too late for many restaurants.

What a lovely place to stay! The bedroom was spacious and had a gorgeous view over the garden, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was beautifully decorated and laid out. We even had the pleasure of watching two swallows come and go from their nest under the eaves above the window. The cooked breakfast was delicious (my husband LOVED the fried bread!) and we had the best blackcurrent compote I've ever eaten. The farm is well positioned for both Hexham and the Rose & Crown pub in Slaley for good meals, and there is plenty of room for parking. Loved the extra touches on the table out on the landing, such as plates and glasses and a shelf or two of books - very thoughtful and convenient. Thank you, Elizabeth, for making our visit so pleasant - we would certainly return if we come to the area again!

A delightfully peaceful and charming location to stay. The room was large with a great ensuite (shower in bath). We stayed in a family room which had garden views and a view of the onsite car park. We were met on site by the host who recommended a local place to have dinner a short drive or a perfect stroll down the road. The building is over 400 years old however the slightly squeaky floor boards are the only evidence as all the renovations, while keeping the character, have modernised the accommodation. Plus there is wifi and streaming options if you need them. There is also a washing machine on site and a microwave in a common room. Breakfast was yummy and made to order. The only problem is deciding how long to stay.

A wonderful quiet fam location away from all others, and in a building converted from farm use into very comfortable accommodation. The room was large and well appointed with a good bathroom, and downstairs is a microwave so that we could eat in one night to save going out to find a pub. The breakfast was perfect to our choice with eggs that were like those we had as children, from chickens hand fed in the buildings. We even had Netflix on the TV! Our hostess, Elizabeth, was so charming and helpful that this has been one of the most memorable B & B stays.

We had a lovely stay at Rye Hill Farm. Everything was spot on — the room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was excellent, and there was plenty of convenient parking. The setting is peaceful, and the host was warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay. We’d happily recommend Rye Hill Farm to anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable place to stay.

The shower room was a little on the small side, but it wasn’t a problem at all and certainly didn’t take away from an otherwise excellent experience.

Everything about Rye Hill Farm is perfect. Delightful hostess, wonderful location, impeccable accommodation with many small extra touches, very tastefully decorated, every comfort. Breakfast included real treat of freshly homemade gooseberry compote picked from the garden, showed the thoughtfulness of Elizabeth - alongside a very professional farm diversification business. We have worked with many farm businesses and never encountered a better one or a more comfortable stay. Thank you Elizabeth.

Absolutely nothing.

A super short stay on a working farm in beautiful surroundings. The farm was well signposted and there was good parking for our car. There is a small lounge for guests on entering the farmhouse. Our room was on the first floor. On a soggy drizzly day it was good to find the room warm and welcoming. There was ample tea coffee and hot chocolate and apart from the wifi, everything worked as it should. The bed was very comfortable. The following morning we were treated to a wonderful proper farmhouse breakfast, with home made produce and ample choice. Elizabeth was a lovely welcoming host. We would definitely return.

Everything - I go for a night every year en route to family in Scotland & it's like arriving at home. Lovely, warm host family, wonderful location - the surrounding scenery/wildlife/farm environment, & perfect location for my onward journey. Delicious homely farm-fresh breakfasts - at communal tables for very delightful interractions with other guests: I was very struck by that on my first visit. Elizabeth has even been a tender counsellor once when I arrived in a state of great personal distress. I could not rate Rye Hill Farm more highly. It's connected as well to my own deep historic roots in Hexham area.
