The hostel is pretty centrally located, just opposite the Milkman cafe (in case that's in your itinerary). It was my first time travelling solo, and in terms of safety and comfort it definitely met the standards. Glad to have such a wonderful experience. Getting into the deets, some of the rooms are in a different building just in the alley from the main one, but the staff will show you around. The common room, tv room and kitchen is in the main building. The beds are pretty standard and great for sleeping over at night and the toilets are clean too.

The location is perfect - just a few minutes walk from the main train station and where the airport buses will drop you off, plus all the old city highlights. I don't think you can get a better place for less. The single room I had was small but totally reasonable. In the separate building with the singles, there is a small alcove with a kettle and refrigerator, which I appreciated.

You only get one towel -- would have been nice to at least have 2! Also, there are a lot stairs getting in and out, which could make it difficult for people with more bags.

Loved the friendly staff, the vibe and friendliness of the place in general. The facilities are very good for the price. They have a TV and a game room and a place to eat along with the kitchen. The guy at the reception was kind enough to give me some suggestions for a traditional pub I can visit in the area! I would definitely visit again, it's very near to the royal mile and I have a great stay.

I liked everything about this place. Very easy to find, very nice and clean with a good set of rules for travellers.

The location was perfect. We were attending a Halloween bridgerton themed ball in the grand cafe which is literally just around the corner. We got a lovely room with a double bed, a sofa, a tv, an unsuite with a decent shower. We even got a kitchen with supplies for a morning cup of tea provided which was a lovely touch. For what we paid it was more than comfortable. Plus the 15% voucher for the cafe next door was ideal when checking out in the morning. Also they let us store our bags for free for a couple hours before Check in. The staff even provided us with an umbrella when we asked so my dress and husband tux wouldn't get wet on the walk to the venue. All and all perfect for what we needed.

The only thing was we were only the top floor and there was no lift, but that's to be expected in an old edinburgh building so wasn't so bad. The only other thing was the tv was a bit dated, and it was attached to the wall in a way you couldn't turn it around to face the bed, so no movie in bed at the end of the night. But honestly was not a big inconvenience.

My partner & I are a middle-aged couple travelling on a budget so maybe we're not the typical 'backpackers'. We didn't stay in a dorm, we had our own room with a private bathroom. The room was small, but had all we needed... it's a backpackers, not a hotel. But it was warm & the beds were very comfortable...& it was quiet! The private rooms aren't located in the main building, we were in a small alley to the side, so we heard no noise from other occupants nor any street noise at all, which was great. Staff were friendly & the location is absolutely fantastic....just off the Royal Mile, a short walk from most tourist sites, including less than ten minutes to Edinburgh Castle. We had a great stay.

Remembering it's a backpackers, not a hotel....so I'm not sure I can think of any negatives considering it's price, facilities, & location

There's a spacious common room for eating, or simply hanging out, with even a pool table. The shared kitchen was kept clean and tidy by staff and, surprisingly, guests. The 8-bed dorm was adequate, though some lockers were broken. Only one bunkbed was creaky, but lower beds had little head-room, so they were only for sleeping. I was most appreciative of the lovely staff who helped me with a personal problem - thanks again!

It would be good to provide a mop for showers, as some guests flooded the ladies' bathroom floor. Shower stalls could be better maintained, again more a problem of guests than of staff.

The hostel is really central and located close to the train station. We had everything we need provided to us (i.e. towels) and the bathrooms were regularly cleaned. The temperature in our room was just right, and we had an enjoyable stay. We travelled as a group for business.

Two very minor things: the WiFi can be very slow (great signal, just slow speeds), and the early check-out time (10am). These are minor factors that did not affect our overall experience, which was exceptional.

The room was in a nearby building and the restroom was on the same floor. They were very clean, bright, and comfortable. The train station and the bus stops were within walking distance, and the hostel is close to bustling streets!

The hostel provided us with a great discount voucher for a cafe beside it, so we decided to have breakfast there the next morning. However, when it was time to pay, I forgot to present the voucher. I quickly remembered and asked the staff if I could use it, but they refused to reprocess the payment, saying it was not their fault. This experience was quite disappointing, as we were simply trying to use a benefit provided by our hostel. The café’s attitude left us very unsatisfied and did not meet our expectations.

Situated on the Royal Mile! its an amazing location. Good Wifi. Common Room is great. Kitchen is properly equipped. A lot of space everywhere not cramped at all. In the middle of everything loads of shops.

There are very limited toilet and shower facilities (4 showers and 3 toilets and 2 urinals) for 10+ rooms of over 8 people per room. The showers that is there is AMAZING though, water pressure is so so good.
