I needed to relax and take a break from driving plus reorganise my things. This was the perfect place to do it. The staff were really friendly when I arrived and gave me a warm welcome. The room had everything I needed and was very clean. Lovely bathroom with powerful shower and nice shampoo and shower gels. The room was massive too. A fridge is always a nice touch and they provided a carton of milk so you can have some teas and coffees in the room. Watched some tv too on a fairly big screen tv. I also thought the price to stay was spot on and fitted my budget. Town is a few minutes walk with a lovely lake view on the way. Free parking too. Loved my stay.
Nothing really.

Good location on the lakefront a short walk from the centre of Te Anau, visitor centre etc. Helpful staff. The seating area in Reception with books was a nice touch. Clean and comfortable rooms (bed very comfy). Good hospitality tray and toiletries. Appreciated the fridge. We had dinner and breakfast at the attached restaurant overlooking the lake, and were very impressed with both the food and the staff.
The over-bath shower was good, but care was needed to get in and out, as bathroom space was confined. We booked two rooms for our party and would have appreciated them being nearer to each other.

Perfect place for a short stay at Te Anau. Nice and comfortable beds in a reasonably clean room for a good night's sleep for a family of 4. Very friendly and polite staff and always willing to help out! Short walk away from the town center and ferry terminal as well.
No elevator in the building, but the extremely helpful front desk staff offered and insisted on carrying our heavy bags up the stairs to level 2. Kudos to you but please take care of your back! Housekeeping service was average in remaking our beds on the second day, but the room was generally clean with fresh towels provided as requested. Parking can be quite tight, but the staff is again very helpful to find a space for you if required.

Had a really good experience at the Kingsgate hotel. The Manager "Deepak Nair" was very plesant and approachable. He also helped with getting us familiarised with the local map and recommended good restaurants nearby as well as helped with acquiring a microwave on short notice as we had a two year old whose food needed to be heated. The rooms were also neat and tidy. Shared Laundry and dryers are also very qick and effective. (Needs $2 coins though)
Some guests just left their clothes the entire day in the shared laundry machine causing problems for others trying to use it. May be a warning should be put there telling that unattented clothes will be removed after a few hours.

The room was clean, space was good enough. The hidden drawer for the tea/coffee and the fridge gives the illusion of a minimalist design (but guests who don’t check might think that there is none provided). Breakfast option was tasty enough but would appreciate if there were more options.
The price point doesn’t feel as worth it as compared to other properties in Te Anau - you might be able to stay at a bigger place for two nights for the price of one night in Kingsgate. It’s lakeside but it’s a bit of a walk to the town centre - not good if you don’t own a car and have to haul a luggage with you.

Staff very pleasant and accommodatiing. we ate twice in restaurant for evening meal the staff in there very friendly and looked after us well 😃 Would also give Deepak a mention as we lost the key to a suitcase and he managed to break the lock and saved the day ..Thank you very much Deepak😃 Loved the area and Would have liked to stay another night but unfortunately they were fully booked...would recommend Kingsgate although it does need updating slightly .. I guess the price reflects the rooms
Shower curtain aaah.😖 ..also tv obscuring the big mirror

We were only briefly staying and passing through to go to the Milford Sound, so it was worth the money spent for what we needed. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, especially when I left my ring behind and called them up - I asked them if they could post it to my home back in Australia, which they obliged. Great service! Breakfast buffet was also amazing! The beds were extremely comfortable!!
There was no hand soap to wash your hands in our bathroom, but they left 2 small bars of facial soap, which we used - the facial soap did have a weird "elderly person" smell, though.

I spent 4 nights here and it was all good, convenient location right by the lake and with views over the mountains, spacious room with fridge and table to sit, bathroom with tub. Parking available on site for free, possibility to do laundry. I had dinner at the restaurant twice and it was good, with view right over the lake. The hotel itself has quite a few rooms but is quiet.
