Paola maintains a magnificent treasure inside the walls of Cortona. The rooms, both our room and common rooms, were exceptionally well-appointed with furnishings and comforts appropriate for a building over 500 years old. Her breakfast was fresh, made to order, and wonderfully scrumptious. But the highlight was dinner, which she insisted we enjoy with her. It was terrific, flavorful and truly distinctive among the many restaurants available in Cortona (or anywhere in Italy). She is wonderfully welcoming and we fell in love with the property and her and stayed an additional night for the sheer joy of doing so.

Beautifully appointed room with period furniture and modern bathroom There was a spiral staircase to the rooftop which offered a spectacular panoramic view of Camucia and the surrounding countryside. The family run restaurant prepared a delicious breakfast with homemade jams , bread, cakes and local meats. The hosts were very welcoming and generous. We had a reservation at a nearby restaurant, but on our next visit we would definitely choose the family restaurant as our first stop .

Nothing we didn’t like, but if you have a challenge with stairs it does not have a mechanical lift .

The location was great! Had lots of character; it was the best ceiling view looking up from the bed we’ve seen to date. And the prayer, kneeling bench with the Jesus art was unique. Bed a little hard and the pillows past their prime, the window shutters we didn’t open as they seemed fragile. Bathroom was good and there was a nice communal room with a fridge. Breakfast was simple but also good. But, hey, what can one expect in a medieval lodging. The host, Paola, was a sweetheart and the on-site restaurant was good (had a celebrity sighting to boot). If you’re looking for more modern comfort, this is not the place. But if you’re looking for a truly memorable experience, this is it!

The location was very convenient to the main plaza. The owner, Paola, is a gracious host and an exceptional Chef. Their restaurant connected to the property was an excellent example of the Tuscan cooking. Her Pici al Fumo is a local Cortona recipe that is a must to try.

You need to be prepared to climb up steps as the historic building has several floors and levels. The breakfast was a fine mix of yogurt, fresh pastries fruit and make do order expresso drinks, but a continental breakfast only.

The property is in the middle of town, very close to the plaza. This is an authentic building-with high ceilings and stone stairs. The owner, Paola, is the chef as well-dinner was delicious-as was the croissants and hand made jams. A delightful experience.

There are long staircases, so if stairs are difficult, this is not for you-but it was not an issue. There are two cats who have free rein of the home, so that may be a deterrent, but they are not aggressive and are sweet.

We loved the personal attention of the owners who went way out of their way for us! The gorgeous historic building, well-furnished, was a treasure. Nice breakfast of homemade selections. Great location near the main town plaza. Also we adored the three house cats!

Nothing! A pleasure all around. Lack of a lift was no problem as the husband handled our (extensive) luggage, with a few humorous puffs.

Great location and value! Ate dinner twice ( it Moana bed and breakfast property 6 rooms.. 7 would classify as hotel)…. And it was really good. Morning/breakfast croissants were best of our two weeks in Italy. Host will help with taxi’s when leaving, but they are not travel planners for you.

There are a lot of steps up to the room… but hey, the building is hundreds of years old. 😊.

A charming, old-fashioned hotel wrapped in a modern touch. The small details make you feel that the place has soul. Everyone was kind to us, and the wines weren’t bad either. Our room had a lovely, cozy atmosphere.

The portions were a bit small, both for lunch and breakfast. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to get a good coffee there either.

Cortona is a beautiful town - well worth exploring right up to the top. We loved Dolce Maria - it's full of character, lovely big room with high ceiling, and as others have said, the best breakfasts. It was a special place to stay. Plus easy access from the carpark (which is beneath the old city walls), and easy to explore from. We felt very welcome. Next time I think we would save up and try to book the room with the terrace and view.
