I recently stayed at this lovely hotel, and I couldn’t have been more impressed. From the moment I arrived, the host was incredibly welcoming and kind, making me feel right at home. Their warmth and hospitality truly set the tone for a fantastic stay. One of the standout features was the breakfast – absolutely delicious! There was a wide variety of fresh, tasty options, and everything was prepared with such care. It was the perfect start to each day. The bed in my room was beyond comfortable – hands down one of the best I've ever slept in. I woke up feeling well-rested and refreshed every morning, which really added to the overall experience. If you're looking for a place that combines comfort, excellent service, and a great breakfast, this is it. I will definitely be returning!

There breakfast Location

It was clean, comfortable. We had a room at the top of what is an town house and the views over Dorchester were wonderful from all the windows. Our room had a bedroom, a sitting room with a big telly and a large bathroom with a roll top bath and a separate great shower. Lovely thick towels provided. The breakfast which is included was first rate. Each morning I chose something different and each one, we were there 4 mornings, was delicious. The proprietors, Karl and Jocelyn, were so welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The location was perfect for us. Town centre with loads of good restaurants and coffee shops and the usual chains of shops but also lots of independent shops too. Loads of museums if that’s your thing. It is ours.

The location was very central and near to the museum and main street. The room was very spacious and comfortable and warm, with a huge bed, two small armchairs and a separate desk and table. There was a large bathroom with shower and fluffy towels. There was a separate area for making coffee and tea (mostly Fairtrade - hooray!) and a coffee machine. There was a list of choices for breakfast - order the previous evening. The hosts were excellent - relaxed and very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our two day stay and would definitely stay again.

Curtains were a bit stiff to pull across.

A brilliant base for any trip down to Dorset. Incredibly friendly, helpful and thoughtful hosts. Whether that was recommendation for a morning walk, a takeaway breakfast after we missed actual breakfast or just the added details in the room like a suitcase scale, chocolate bars for the coffee setup as among others. Very comfortable bed, good space in the room, delicious breakfast and great bathroom with amenities. I’ve holidayed in many a place in the UK and abroad and it was refreshing to stay in a place that the owners still wish to put in the extra effort and detail in your stay.

Hard to say don’t like but just believe in fair reviews so one thing of note was it is an old building and the bathroom didn’t have a window so just a bit of damp on the ceiling above the shower.

This is a lovely BnB in Dorchester. We stayed in the room on the top floor of the building which was spacious and had a separate sitting area and bedroom. The TV has Freeview and the option to stream Netflix. We enjoyed the tea and coffee making facilities and the room benefitted from a fridge which was useful. Breakfast was freshly prepared each morning and was beautiful. The hosts were very welcoming, my husband and I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfy stay in Dorchester.

The bathroom was separate from the room - although right next door, you access it through a landing that can be freely accessed (though this was not a real issues as we did not meet anyone on the landing).

Excellent guidance ahead of arrival regarding parking near the guest house. We arrived a little early but Jocelyn had the room ready so she took us up to the suite on the top floor. We had a lovely sitting room, separate bedroom and bathroom. All very comfortable and well equipped. Our breakfasts were a delight! Jocelyn's porridge was delicious, as was the full English. Service was efficient and friendly. We really enjoyed staying with Jocelyn and Karl and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Westwood House.

We would usually choose to park on site, but using a public car park nearby was not an issue.

Karl & Jocelyn were consummate hosts and their B&B is just gorgeous! Our spacious double bedroom was lovely and even had a mini-fridge which thoughtfully had a bottle of fresh milk & a bottle of still water, that was replaced each day. Despite facing the main road our room was nice and quiet and the bed was incredibly comfortable for our 2 night stay. The breakfast in the morning was made to order and delicious and Karl & Jocelyn were so friendly and amenable. We had an exhausting drive down from Hertfordshire after work on the Friday and were worried we wouldn't arrive in time to check-in before 10pm so we called ahead and Karl reassured us they'd be ready for us whenever we got there. We had such a delightful time visiting family in the area that we will definitely be staying in Westwood House again every time we visit in future.

Great welcome from Mel and Tom. Our luggage was carried up (we’re too old to manage). Our suite was impeccably furnished. Super comfort and attention to detail. Every need was catered for, from fresh milk in the fridge to a proper coffee machine, luggage scales and sewing kit as well as iron in wardrobe. Lovely toiletries. Comfy bed with soft mattress cover and good cotton bedding. Delicious breakfast cooked to order for my husband. Quality ingredients. Artisan bread for toast.

We were on the top floor of a Georgian property so obviously there can’t be a lift. Fortunately we had takeaway food from nearby Waitrose so could stay in and eat in our comfy suite. The pillows were a bit hard. My breakfast pancakes were hard and a bit odd, not “pancakey “. I know I should have mentioned this at the time but I didn’t want to spoil the happy atmosphere and everything else was great.

I stayed with Karl and Jocelyn last Thursday and I cannot praise their hospitality more! The premises are stunning, my room was spacious, immaculate and well-equipped, and the morning breakfast was absolutely delightful! But above all, Karl and Jocelyn as hosts are so welcoming, caring and warm - they really make the house feel like a home to guests. In fact, I didn’t even feel like a guest, I was made to feel like part of the family! A wonderful stay with wonderful hosts. Thanks so much again, Karl and Jocelyn! The property is centrally located, which means all places of interest are within a reasonable distance. The host was very welcoming and accommodating. The property is finished to a high standard and all needs are catered for. Our room was facing the road, but I have to say we did not experience any noise or a disturbed nights sleep. Breakfast was delicious and there was an excellent choice, there were also a variety of jams and marmalades to choose from. (4 night stay)The rooms are cleaned daily and the standard of cleanliness is excellent. We would definitely recommend this property and we will return again.
