The hotel was in an excellent location right in the centre of all amenities. The room was a good size with a large and very comfortable bed. It had a good-sized bathroom. We were upgraded to a room with a Juliet balcony with a view over the city which was very nice. The lady on reception on our first night was particularly friendly and helpful which was lovely and she also served us in the nice bar area. All the staff was very nice. The breakfast had a good selection - with both hot and cold choices available, plenty of juices, bottled water and teas and coffees.

The bathroom had a bath with a shower over (we personally prefer a walk-in shower). The air conditioning was not working whilst we were there and so we had to leave the window open at night which was quite noisy.

- Superb central city location - I had a room on the first floor with a balcony, and it was a delightful experience to return to the room in the evenings after hot hot hot days out sightseeing, and to open the balcony doors to let in the cooling evening breeze and listen to the hubbub of bar-café life below on the Place de la République. - Local Normandy honey at breakfast. - Place de la République is being transformed into an amazing green space (rather just than a flat expanse of stone and tarmac) and it is a truly pleasant place to spend time.

Great central location close to all amenities - walking distance to tourist sites, bars & restaurants. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Nice rooms. Common areas nicely furnished and welcoming. Breakfast optional, but a nice continental selection. The hotel has a small bar and prices reasonable. I would definitely stay there again.

Nothing significant. Rooms not that big, but perfectly adequate for a short break. The hotel has no parking of its own, which was made clear in the hotel description prior to booking There is a multi storey underground parking adjacent to hotel at a cost of 22 euros a day, although hotel does offer a modest discount on this.

Great location, clean room, hot power shower, comfortable bed. Probably the best hotel we stayed in during our time exploring Normandy. The restaurant downstairs does a great three course menu for 25 euros and serves food until about 9.30pm. Don’t miss the Farmers Market round the corner for breakfast bits if you’re in Caen on a Sunday.

Parking is at a public car park opposite. It’s 22 euros overnight BUT to get the modest 3 euro hotel discount you have to go to hotel reception BEFORE you drive in to the carpark.

We had a wonderful stay! Everyone at the front desk was friendly and happy to help! The room was very comfortable with amazing water pressure! We we had a lovely balcony overlooking the square. The main bed was bigger than expected and the pull out was perfect for our daughter to comfortable sleep!

The bar/ square outside was a bit noisy, but that’s to be expected in a city.

The hotel was centrally located in Caen and was a short walk to the castle and to old town. We were 2 grandparents plus a family of 3 and we were able to get adjoining rooms, one with a balcony, at the front of the hotel. There was an elevator and the rooms were very quiet and came with air conditioning. We picked up our rental cars the morning we left so we didn’t need to worry about parking. However, I did notice there was an underground parkade across the street. The tram can be taken from near the train station and it will drop you a few blocks from the hotel. Or you could take a cab from the station for a reasonable rate as we did. The rooms were very modern and the beds were very comfortable. The gentleman on the front desk was both thoughtful and helpful. There were many places to eat and shop within walking distance of the hotel. Breakfast was available at the hotel but we didn’t partake as we wanted to hit the road early. There was however a plate of croissants placed in the lobby for guests to help themselves to when they left. I would definitely recommend the Best Western Royal Hotel Caen for a one or multi-night stay!

There was not one thing we didn’t like about the hotel.

The hotel’s location was great. It was near many restaurants and stores incl Gallerie Lafayette. The staff was great too. . They were very helpful and always a smile on their faces. The breakfast could be better. Overall our stay in this hotel was enjoyable. Will recommend to friends.

Breakfast could have been better. The room could have been a little bit bigger than we had. But not really a deal breaker if you’re staying only for a day or two.

Hotel is really centrally located, not far from the shopping street and the sights, such as the tomb of William the Conqueror. The breakfast was rich and as you would expect in France... fresh baguettes and croissants. Car park is directly opposite the hotel below the central square. The parking garage is directly across from the hotel, below the central square. Before entering, you have to report to the reception to get the reduced price (-3 euros). Traffic noise was present but not disturbing or overly loud.... so very good windows. Hotel room and bathroom were very clean and spacious. We had dinner in the restaurant right next to the hotel, which is also highly recommended.

The staff was lovely. The room was lovely. The bed was very comfortable. It was a little warm but they were kind enough to provide us with a fan. We had a nice conversation with the bartender who gave us great recommendations for wine and restaurants. We would stay her again, for sure.

The location was great very close to a lot of shops and restaurants! The staff were super nice and helpful!! It was also so nice to have the cold water you could get at any time and the pastries in the morning !!

We really enjoyed everything !
