The property has a fabulous pool area the decking is quite extensive, the BBQ area is very clean and has everything you need, the pool itself is quite large and the greenery makes it a very attractive setting. The location is a ten minute walk to everything. There is parking underneath for 16? cars and I think there are about 36 units. Its allocated first come first served. If you miss out there is lots of street parking so no issue. The room is old style and initially it was a bit offputting. However, it is spotlessly clean and eveything works and its actually very fit for purpose and quite quaint. In fact the whole site is very clean and very well maintained. Very good value for money. We recommned.

THe kitchen in the unit is tiny. No space for preparation if you want to create a meal. Therefore use the BBQ area instead. The poolside units are prefereable. We were above the car park. Which is a lesser view, but when a car starts its engine and you are on the balcony its quite smelly. Therefore we would request poolside if we return.

Friendly and helpful reception. Updated and comfortable room. Garage and pool were close-by. Pool was lovely and we almost had it to ourselves. Location is excellent - re restaurants, marina, beach, park. We only used our car for touring.

Bedroom/ Lounge areas are together. Table was on the balcony, but the weather suited us for sitting outside. Kitchen was small so more suited to take-away meals rather than cooking (but fine for breakfast and for preparing packed lunches). The street gets busy but by closing the balcony door we cut-down the noise from early morning traffic.

Port Douglas Retreat is in a great location - a short walk to the main street, beach, and harbour but set back enough that it’s very quiet. Our room was a good size, and the kitchenette had everything you might need. Check in was easy (we were even offered an early check in), and there was undercover, closed garage parking available. The pool was lovely, parts of it were in shade from the surrounding trees which meant you could stay and cool down without getting burnt!

As noted by other guests, the air conditioning unit was an older model which meant that it was not as efficient or quiet as a newer one. There was however a silent ceiling fan, which did a good job keeping us cool overnight.

Great room with a balcony, large comfortable bed, fantastic pool

Well located on a side street within walking distance of main drag, but quiet, The saltwater pool was warm, inviting and easy to access. The palms and trees around the pool added to the relaxing and pleasant ambience. Facilities in the room and around pool were good. Staff were personable and quick to respond to requests,

Mattress was a bit saggy with ridge up middle (could be unzipped). Initial supplied pillows were high and solid, but were quickly replaced on request.

Excellent advice from the proprietors Joyce and David on companies they suggested for snorkelling on the reefs and crocodile viewing on the Daintree River was much appreciated. Helpful at all times with bookings. and suggestions as to what events were currently on locally . Great location for beach access and shopping facilities. Apart from one rainy day, we enjoyed splendid sunny weather - ideal for pool and beach swimming. The Kitchen was well equipped and breakfasts on the balcony amidst the tree tops was a lovely way rt to start the day.

We were there for 7 nights and felt that clean towels should have been provided halfway through- for 8 nights , they supposedly were . Otherwise you had to pay for clean towels.

We had a wonderful stay at the Port Douglas Retreat! The location is fantastic—just a short walk into town, yet quiet and peaceful. Our room overlooked the pool area, which was especially beautiful in the evenings with the tiki torches lit—such a relaxing atmosphere. We really appreciated having a kitchenette, which made it easy to prepare our own meals and feel right at home. A great place to unwind and enjoy everything Port Douglas has to offer. Would definitely stay again!

We stayed in a Poolside Studio Room on the ground floor and for us it was perfect. King size bed extremely comfortable, bathroom well appointed, perfect hot water to basin and shower. Kitchenette well equipped with hot plates, microwave, and small refrigerator which had a small freezer. Electric jug and toaster. Plates, cooking utensils and cutlery provided. Also clothes rack for drying. Large TV with cable channels situated on the wall. Very good value. Very close to 4 Mile beach and main shopping street.

Absolutely nothing

Everything you needed with restaurants, shops and harbour all within walking distances. It also had a much needed laundry for guests. The pool was lovely and the staff really helpful.

The air conditioning was a bit old . So didn’t work as efficiently as hoped in extremely humid and hot conditions. However there was a ceiling fan ( essential) which helped. But it is the tropics and it isn’t a modern hotel which we didn’t want. This is just so other travellers come knowing this.

Great staff, quick correspondence before my visit to arrange a very late check in. Staff were really helpful and knowledgeable about all the trips/excursions. There were loads of brochures and some suggested itineraries which was really helpful. Big room, comfy bed and sofa, well equipped kitchen, great bathroom. Pool/beach towels available. Laundry on site. Close to beach, marina and town. Beautiful pool with sun loungers and bbq. The trees around made it so relaxing! Great value for money!

Room was a dated, noisy air con but it didnt bother me and everything worked brilliantly.
