Comfortable hotel well-placed for Atocha station (by taxi or bus - metro involves a change of line) and about a half-hour (or less) brisk walk to the Rastro, Reina Sofia, Prado etc.. Metro 20m from the front door, on a well-lit road. Attentive desk staff (all of them) who invariably recognised us and had key ready before I could tell them the room number. Overall, a well-run hotel that felt like it would deliver the "predictable" (i.e. you can trust what you are getting) level of comfort and service of a chain like Accor but with a more personal touch.

Sound insulation between rooms is typical of a postwar / late 20th-century Madrid building. Not terrible, but not totally noise-free, either. Breakfast good but not great - if all you want is a coffee / OJ and croissant, there are cafes nearby that are cheaper.

Super friendly staff! You need to leave your key at reception when you leave the hotel. But no worries, staff remember you and when you enter the hotel the key is waiting for you on the desk. Loads of places to have a seat and relax outside your room: small garden on the ground floor, a terrace on the seventh floor and a library with small terrace on the eighth floor. There is also a small café next to the hotel but you can enter that without having to leave to hotel. I did not have breakfast at the hotel so I can't comment on that. I had a room on the street side of the hotel but there wasn't a lot of noise to be heard in the room even though there was a lot of traffic in the morning. The room was a decent size compared to some other European hotels. There was a small fridge available and a nice selection of toiletries (toothbrush and toothpaste, comb, shaving razor, soap, shower gel and shampoo). The airconditioning is a big plus. There is also free wifi, they give you the password when you check in. Location is good. There's a metro stop just outside of the hotel. It's about 15 - 20 minutes walk to the Prado Museum, Retiro Park, ... After check out you can ask the staff to call you a taxi. Mine was there in less than 5 minutes. It costs a fixed price of €33 to get to the airport.

I loved the quirkiness and individuality of this hotel. The many features around the hotel like Sancho and the amazing vases and flower arrangements, and the historic contraptions make it a very special place. It has a lovely rooftop library and patio. It was also well-located to the museums and central Madrid. I walked everywhere.

There was a bar restaurant attached to the hotel where breakfast was served (if you weren't having the more expensive hotel breakfast inside the hotel). The television was on at all times turned up to full volume. I noticed that, like me, none of the other people were at all interested in watching a shopping program over breakfast. Likewise, as there is no bar in the hotel, I was directed to the bar restaurant only to turn away because of the full volume television blaring away. No way to have a quiet peaceful drink after you've been travelling all day.

We were able to check in early, for this reason we couldn’t have rooms close together, but that was our choice. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly especially lovely Monica. There is a pleasant courtyard and roof terrace, unfortunately the weather was too bad to take advantage of them. The hotel is in a good location by Delicias Metro station and 10 minutes walk from Atocha station. The neighbourhood is more of a residential one than a tourist area. We had breakfast in a delightful cafe a minute’s walk down the road, rather than in the cafe attached to the hotel.

My room was rather small as was the bathroom. Wardrobe was also small.

Room and bathroom were nice and spacious, overlooking the inner courtyard so it was pretty quiet - even if the hotel is on a busy street. Location is a bit off from the city center but still a pleasant 30min walk if your feet are up for it; and only 20 min to Reina Sofia, Retiro and Prado :) Literally across from Delicias station where you can catch the train directly to airport - super convenient!

Hallways are a bit acoustic and it could get noisy at nights and mornings - room doors can basically only be shut by slamming... Bed was tad small-ish for two people, but we got used to it. Some toiletries were left to be desired (cotton pads and ear swabs, shower cap), and it would have been nice to have a kettle and some complimentary tea (as we booked without breakfast), but that's ok :)

I used to live nearby so I knew the location is great and the area more relaxed than the center. There is a metro and bus stop a fee steps away that takes you to the center and beyond in 15-25 minutes. There is a big supermarket close by, but you can also go to the park Tierno Galván or down to the river and have a long walk or do some sports. The room was not too big but comfortable and functional. It was not super modern but clean. I appreciated that there were two pillow options. Honestly, the best about the property were the people at the reception, especially a very kind lady who always received me with a smile and although I was traveling alone, she always had something nice to say and made me feel home.

Overall I did not dislike anything. I am sleeping with ear plugs so I did not perceive the noise from the street - something to consider when traveling.

Nice small hotel, located just close enough to the center but not too far- which was great for us because it was so quiet at night, and the curtains in the room shaded well so we could have rested well after running around all day. Metro station literally across the street which is super handy. lots of restaurants and mini-markets near by. staff was very helpful, especially Monica who made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. We booked a triple room but they kindly offered us a bigger room with one double and one single beds and that was great and much better. we didn't had breakfast there but there is a dinning room and also a nice cafeteria. highly recommended!

We asked for a quiet room and it was, for the whole five nights we spent there. Unexpectedly it also had its own private outdoor terrace. We sat out most nights and watched the sunset over the rooftops before heading out for dinner. The hotel is decorated in an eclectic mix of styles, but the effect was interesting, quirky and fun. As a family run hotel they had lots of thoughtful facilities, like a library with lots of views and a communal outdoor terrace, on the top floor. The staff, may of whom seemed to be the owners family, were always smiling and incredibly welcoming and helpful. The whole place was spotless. Lastly the proximity to the metro station on our doorstep, made it very easy, quick and cheap to access all the major tourist spots.

No complaints.

Very pleased with the room which was bigger than average for a city hotel and we had no problem requesting single beds as we are friends not a couple. This is becoming a real problem elsewhere. There was also a bath as well as a shower which we both like. Substantial buffet breakfast is offered in the dining room for very reasonable cost. They also offer dinner but we didn't need that. In addition there is a cafe for coffee and snacks which is open until 11 pm. Reception staff were very helpful and Reception is manned 24 hours a day which was important for us as we were returning in the early hours from the tennis tournament.

The location of Hotel Sancho is really great. Metro stop right outside, Las Delicias,, along with bus stops, about 20 minutes to the center depending where you are going. The decor and feel of the hotel is classic with its antique theme and of Cervantes. Real nice cafeteria adjacent with reasonable prices and great service, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Restaurants close by as well with good food. We enjoyed the neighborhood with the small stores and the feel of a large city. Room amenities are very modern with a classic feel. Some rooms have a terrace and there is a 7th floor " study area" as well for work or meetings. Above all, we found the staff very courteous and professional.
