The unit, while being a basic motel unit, provided a comfortable bed and was warm (the owner had turned the heater on before I arrived, which was much appreciated!) There was plenty of hot water for the shower. The unit was in the middle of the block, so it was sheltered from the main road traffic noise nearby and I slept well. TV and WiFi worked well. About ten minutes walk away was a selection of good restaurants for dinner, and a short walk further put me into the main shopping street.

The unit is showing its age with wallpaper that is beginning to lift, and paint that is a bit worn in the high contact areas. The sliding door to the bathroom has a sticking point on its track when about half open. These are observations, not complaints, and they did not detract from my stay.

For it’s age the property is in very good basic condition. Very tidy and well cared for. Obviously there are some ongoing maintenance work which will always be the case in older buildings. Did wonder if the installation of an exhaust fan in the bathroom area might help with managing ‘moisture damage’ over the years? (Shower wall-board etc) The driveways had good surface as absolutely needed given the steep incline. The manager ‘Mac’ was very welcoming , friendly and helpful. Both the bed and the couch were comfortable - both important for a couple of in their 70s!

Could definitely do with sky sports and sky movies also better wifi as some units wifi doesn't work with the tplink wifi extender but if your in a room closer to reception wifi is great, cost me around $89 for mobile data for my children and I with bad cellular signal in the unit (but that's more of a timaru issue then the motel itself)

Bed was clean and comfy. All the required utencials were there. So it was awesome experience overall. The manager behavior was super nice and cooperative. They allowed me checkin and checkout 1-2 hours more which I really liked most. Thanks Mayank.

The driveway can be less steep and firm. Temporary feet slippers can also be provided if possible.

Staff very courteous and helpful. I like that the rooms were being tastefully renovated. My first booking had new curtains and carpets and the unit was very clean. It looked as though the worn paintworkwas next on the list. On my second stay shortly after, the renovation had been completed, and looked really good. Good value for money. Well done!

As above, it takes time to renovate, and income needs to be coming in. I stayed there a few years ago, and it was getting tatty.. Good to see it being improves.

They offered to upgrade us to a larger unit but warned us it was about to be overhauled. So although it was rather sad and dilapidated, it was beautifully large and spacious with lovely views of Caroline Bay and a park. The host was very friendly and helpful. He provided us with a mini glass bottle of milk and lots of local knowledge. There was a full sized fridge/freezer and a full oven too. Even a 4 slice toaster and a definitely non-stick frypan. There was free undercover parking which was easy to access. Sheets, towels etc were perfect. Water was hot and a there was a good shower.

Considering we were upgraded for free and were warned, we disregarded the shabbiness. I'm sure the overhaul will look lovely. The only drawback was the rather steep driveway. But there was plenty of room to turn around on the flat area at the bottom.

I appreciated the hospitality and friendliness of the receptionist. The studio room is so clean and comfort, it meets my need. The location is great as it’s walking distance to the beach, good walking trails and shops, also its about 5 mins to the city center. Highly recommended Aaron Court motel!

Motel is situated on a very good location. Close to supermarkets,Caroline bay is just on a walking distance to the motel.. Take away’s and dine inns are also not so too far away. Friendly staff, Comfortable beds, cleaned unit, good wifi what else do u need. Really enjoyed my stay out there with my wife.

Do not judge a book by its cover. First appearances are deceiving. This place has not been nor had a good past, but these new owners are doing their very best to turn it around by slowly doing up the rooms, etc. It is very comfy to stay in and warm. Will stay again.

The verandah really needs dealt with.

Reception was friendly. Location was quiet. Room layout very good. Bed comfortable and clean. Heater in sitting room good.

Microwave cable too short to plug into power - had to lift it off its shelf and place in on the kitchen top. Not easy to access wall power switch for cooker. No heater in bathroom.
