Beautiful old building with lovely grounds . Great views. They have not done anything to spoil it, all the rooms are in the old house, not like so many country house hotels where most of the rooms are in some ugly modern extension. Very nice pool.

Food and drink very expensive! For dinner £75 for 3 courses, excluding service and vegetables , so by the time you’ve added a few drinks , some side dishes and service , it’s well over £100 a head for dinner. Plumbing need a bit of updating , radiators in our room weren’t working due to airlocks but reception told us that maintenance team don’t work weekends!!

Having stayed a year ago, we returned this year for another family celebration, and the experience was every bit as good as last time. Very comfortable rooms with lovely high quality sheets and towels. The dinner in the restaurant was delicious; we couldn't fault any aspect of it, and breakfast was also great. Once again, the staff really made the occasion special and it was nice to see some familiar faces - they manage to hit the perfect note between formality and friendliness, and are attentive without being obsequious.

The spa was crowded, but that's only to be expected on a Friday evening and we were still able to enjoy a swim.

Lovely stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They arranged a taxi into Marlow for us and also allowed us late check out so we could enjoy the spa for longer in the morning. Spa was lovely and breakfast was great.

Spa was quite small, but it was as described. However as it was small there are only about 20 loungers so it fills up quickly. Our first day we went down at 4pm and it was quite busy - there were no loungers available so had to put towels on the side. It was a lot quieter in the morning which was lovely, but all loungers had gone by 10.30am. We did go in feb half term and the weather wasn't great, so likely that these factors contributed to the business / more people being in the spa

Excellent food and food servers. The breakfast that was included was magnificent. The bar needs a bigger menu. Too few choices. The pool and gym were outstanding. And the grounds were spectacular.

The room was worn especially the bathroom. Shower bordered on dangerous getting in and out. Needs more wall handles . Couldn't see myself in front of the bathroom sink mirror. I'm 6 foot and had to squat to see myself. Toliet took several flushes to flush. Ventilation fan in bathroom did not work. Steamed the room up. Otherwise room was beautiful.

Fabulous room with separate living area. Pool and spa were lovely and tranquil. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The steam room was out of order. The lift was out of order.

Excellent breakfast and exceptional service from Adam. He was always very friendly, a real credit to hotel and always had a smile on his face. Some staff were less friendly and difficult to communicate with due to language barrier.

The cleanliness of some of the rooms. There was a dirty tissue left in a room from the previous occupant and not cleaned up! The great hall was VERY chilly and therefore not inviting at all. A great shame as it was beautifully decorated, as was the rest of the hotel. Pool was a little cool too. I spoke to the reception staff twice regarding having a waste facility bin in my room as I have a stoma and need to empty and change the bags. They reassured me and said they would speak to housekeeping but I never received a bin so had to leave the bags on the bathroom floor!

Stunning, historical building. Beautifully dressed for Christmas. Great spa though the steam room was out of service. Amazing grounds. Lovely room. Great could really go on.

The thing that let it down was the dinner menu. We had booked for a festive menu and the options were not great and used quite cheap ingredients. Full disclosure we chose not to eat there on the basis of the menu so can’t rate it but the menu seemed so uninspiring and poor value for what was on offer we left to get a curry. We did speak to the hotel before doing so. Hope they get their kitchen sorted as otherwise everything was great.

The room was very clean and there is a bar and a separate room like a quiet lounge where we enjoyed reading a book and could have an evening drink in there. The spa looked great but we did not book a treatment because they were fully booked. My husband made use of the swimming pool and sauna every day and loved it. I think our favourite aspect of this stay was the 64 acres of land that the hotel sits on and how wonderful the views are from the hotel garden grounds. Beyond exceptional!

It would have been nice if the fireplace was on to add to the cosy vibe in the lounge room, and the lift was not working so I saw a few people carrying their luggage up the stairs. There isn't much fault I can pick because even listing these 2 things did not impact our enjoyment as we had a great stay.

I have stayed here a couple of times before some years ago. Lovely hotel and very friendly and helpful staff. The spa area is excellent too. Beautiful well kept grounds and the delights of Marlow are a very short drive away.

The main letdown was that the dining was very expensive even when compared to other similar country house hotels. We ate in the main restaurant one night and in the bar the other. Same price or even more expensive as London top restaurants but not as good quality. We had to send back the bar meal as the meat was burnt. It was replaced without question but that should not happen given the prices that are being charged.

Staff were really great - welcoming and helpful and made our stay. Room was very comfortable and well sized, which we really appreciated. Facilities were excellent - used the spa facilities and were of a high standard. And to top it off, the setting was amazing and history quite fascinating.

Nothing really. The only thing which would be helpful is a pathway which goes all the way to reception (without spoiling the overall setting. You can roll a suitcase only so far from the car park then have to carry over the stones to get to reception (unless you drive right up to reception in arrival).
