AFTER THE 1ST NIGHT IT WAS VERY GOOD THE 1ST NIGHT I WAS IN A ROOM WHICH I DECRIBE AS TERRIABLE. BOOK IN FOR 6 NIGHT IT TO GET A ROOM WITH NO CHAIR TO RELAX IN IN A TINY ROOM 348 WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. NEXT MORNING I WENT TO RECEPTION AND SAID I WASN'T HAPPY WITH THE ROOM. THEY WERE EXTREMALY HELPFUL AND GOT ME A LOVEY ROOM WHICH MADE ME FEEL I WAS ON HOLIDAY. MY ONLY CONCERN WAS IF I HADN'T COMPLAINED IT WOULD HAVE BEEN 6 HORRIBLE DAYS. I WAS THERE AS IT WAS A YEAR SINCE MY HUSBAND HAD DIED AND IT WAS TO MAKE ME FEEL A BIT BETTER TO BE SOMEWERE NICE. ALL THE STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL. THE FOOD WAS GOOD AND I DID HAVE A GOOD TIME

Formerly known as The Principal York, this grand hotel is located right next to the train station. It has a great atmosphere, with large halls, elegant decorations, and creaking floors at the room level—very atmospheric and absolutely memorable. The breakfast includes a full English option and a solid selection of other choices. Nothing extravagant, but everything is of reasonable quality (which apparently does not apply to their restaurant). The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the complimentary bottled water in the room was much appreciated. Overall, this was a very pleasant stay, and I would definitely return.

The location is supurb! Very convenient if travelling by train since the hotel is right next to York Train Station. It is very easy to just push our heavy luggages into the hotel. And not too far from the City Center, just 10 minutes easy walk there. We chose the Side Building rooms 5 mins walk from the reception. In Summer there is Thor’s Bar at the back yard garden, super fun! The staffs are very very helpful, very polite, very friendly. The buildings, the decorations, the rooms are gorgeous in every corner. Breakfast is good enough. 2 nights were so impressive that we did not want to leave.

Comfortable hotel - we took advantage of a £20 upgrade to Junior Suite with Minster view which was great. Swimming Pool was good though a little cold and steam room was out of order....

Breakfast was disappointing. We arrived at the time suggested to us on a poster by the lifts when it was due to be less busy. It was very busy and most choices had gone and were not replaced. We had to look for cutlery which staff were slow to provide. Coffee was stewed and there were hardly any pastries left. Breakfast was our only grumble in an otherwise lovely hotel - needs attention. Stunning hotel, beautiful rooms, gorgeous communal areas and lovely restaurant. Staff friendly and helpful.

Parking prices far too high for paying hotel guests. Lack of TV choices/channels for an otherwise luxurious hotel - expected options such as Netflix, streaming services etc. Very little coffee/tea/milk/biscuits etc in bedroom for what I’d expected for the price and for what otherwise seems a luxurious hotel. I was planning to order room service but no menu in room.

Perfect location lovely hotel staff v nice Christmas trees going up looked beautiful Location good for everything and Christmas market 10 mins walk Room clean, bathroom warm and clean

Standard room was very small and only a tiny wardrobe with not much room as fridge safe and ironing board in there. Need a set of drawers. AC doesn't get very warm more of a cool breeze, radiator doesn't work. Lighting is dull in the room. Bathroom ok. Would stay again but check room size. Reception area leads to foyer and seating which in November is quite cold and needs to shut more internal doors. Bar nice atmosphere.

The Hotel is absolutely amazing Right next door to York railway station and a short walk into York city We drove and there was plenty of parking The staff are very efficient and friendly We booked on a dinner bed and breakfast basis The food was amazing The buffet breakfast had everything from full English to continental They have a gym including swimming pool which we used towels and lockers provided The hotel is dog friendly and they provide bed ,water bowl and free treats for your furry friend Poppy was completely spoilt We upgraded to a King Room for an extra £15.00 per night It was well worth it .The room was large with stunning view over the gardens and York Minister The grounds are lovely to walk around We booked celebrating our retirement from teaching and nursing The hotel put a card in our room with a voucher for a free drink each which was completely unexpected such a lovely gesture We are planning to book again for later in the year

The Hotel and Facilities are perfect We couldn’t find fault

The property location is great. A 10 minute walk into the main town. Also super convenient for the train station. The building is grand and has a sense of luxury in the main areas. Our room was comfortable and the bed was lovely.

The room we stayed in could have benefited from a lick of paint as there were paint chips and flaky walls in the bathroom so not much to fix but shame it’s not prioritised. The Peachy bar area was dirty, spilt drinks on tables, leaking roof and generally grubby. There were no nice areas to drink and relax. The breakfast was ok, understaffed and again un clean. The tables were not cleared away for a long period of time and the food was not refilled quickly enough. Shame. I would avoid Peachy’s and the breakfast. Go out and about.

A Truly Exceptional Stay in York! We came away to celebrate my 50th birthday with another couple of friends. From the moment we arrived, The Milner York Hotel exceeded all expectations and delivered a truly 5-star experience. I am disabled and rang ahead to reserve a parking slot near the hotel. When we arrived there was a lovely printed sign with my name and dates we were staying. Our room was absolutely beautiful – elegantly decorated, immaculately clean, and clearly designed with guest comfort in mind. The attention to detail was impressive, creating a wonderful sense of luxury. The bathroom and the shower? Simply perfect! Excellent water pressure and temperature made for a refreshing start to each day. What truly set this hotel apart, however, was the staff. Every single member we encountered was incredibly attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Their genuine warmth and professionalism made us feel so welcome and well-cared for. The York Milner Hotel is a gem, offering beautiful rooms, fantastic facilities, and, most importantly, outstanding service. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting York and we can't wait to return!

Room was beautiful, upgraded to a junior suite and it was so comfy. I had vanity sets, shower cap, gorgeous products to use. Good selection of tea and coffee and mini bar for cold waters and fresh milk I requested which was no problem. I also really liked the iPhone charger outlet which I didn’t notice at first so that was super handy. Staff lovely, areas stunning. Love the hotel and will come back just because it’s a nice hotel and I don’t normally do that. I stayed before as principal and it’s good to see it’s still well run.

My parents and brother booked direct with the hotel so I was a little surprised that there rooms over lookied the station which had a loud hum. Fair enough but they had no vanity bits and bobs so no quips or cotton wool or shower caps in their rooms! Now they did check in early so that could be why but I just felt for them. But they too loved the hotel.
