Staff were wonderful, especially Rowena and Nicola. Room was a bit dated and the bathroom lacked ventilation. This meant the room was a little musty if we were away all day and unable to air out the room adequately. Otherwise, this was an excellent stay. We had family staying nearby, but we were very grateful to escape the family chaos with our room in the trees and the garden pool.

Room ventilation could be improved

It was a magnificent experience - starting with the warm welcome from staff and as we had no car, they helped us with luggage and delivery to the room. Our taxi left us in the wrong location and the grounds staff were so lovely to take us to reception up the hill. The room was impeccable and the views…well you need to see them to believe it! Out of this world. Breakfast and the pool area are just what you need - quiet and secluded, but with all the facilities you need. We will definitely be back! Nothing was too much trouble for staff. Our room was large, nicely furnished and the huge bed was very comfortable. Everything was spotless. The staff were lovely and very helpful, breakfast was perfect. We would be very happy to return on future trips.

Part of the reason we booked Silvermist was that it had a restaurant as we didn't want to drive in the evening. However it turned out that the restaurant is not part of the hotel, is one if the best restaurants in Cape Town and was booked up for 4 weeks, lunch and dinner. It should not be mentioned as part of the estate. The drive up to the hotel is not for the faint hearted, especially not in the dark!

Silvermist has a lot of old-world charm. It is superbly located in Constantia Neck, with beautiful views and close to Cape Town, the Waterfront, Seapoint and the coastal towns and villages. It is also within easy reach of various wine routes. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful (for example with some printing I needed), our rooms were very comfortable (including wood-burning stoves) and breakfast was very enjoyable.

it's a minor criticism; there was no space in the one wardrobe to hang my wife's dress.

Silvermist is a great base from which to explore Cape Town and the Western Cape. It is in a beautiful setting and our room was very comfortable and roomy and the staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. I needed some printing done and Nicola was only too happy to assist me. For those wanting to experience fine-dining, SA's premier restaurant and one of the best in the world, La Colombe, is situated on the property.

Connecting to the wifi was challenging at times.

Beautiful, traditional building with all the mod cons for comfort. The bed was huge and sooo comfy. We loved the peace and tranquility of the location. The pool was gorgeous too, lovely and clean and private. We had it to ourselves but I think even with other guests there it would have felt like there was plenty of space for us all.

Nothing!

I previously stayed in a unit facing the mountains, which is my favorite. This time round my accommodation was one of the suites at the back of the reception area with a view on the garden and trees, walking distance from the pool and restaurant. I loved the size of the room, tasteful and clean and the fireplace was perfect in the cold rainy winter Cape weather. The sound of the birds and view of the trees are beautiful. Lindsay was very helpful with all our requests and went our of her way to accommodate us. I hope to be back again soon to enjoy one of the units with those breathtaking views of the mountains again.

Nothing serious, but there are some steep roads and sharp corners on your way to the top of the mountain if you need to get to reception or the restaurant for breakfast if now in walking distance. The entrance also have a steep uphill, so ensure that your car is capable (or maybe the driver should have proper skills), to navigate those. :-) Gratefully Uber knows how to deliver food there!

Nice location and very comfortable. The electric blankets were very welcome!! The gentleman doing the breakfast was great - friendly and professional service.

We couldn’t figure out how to switch off the outside lights and one of the sliding doors onto the balcony couldn’t open, but nothing major.

The Silvermist Wine Estate is a beautiful setting for this modest hotel. The rooms are spacious, with every comfort. It is right next door to the famous restaurant La Colombe so a perfect place to stay if you are dining at the restaurant.

There is no restaurant belonging to the hotel. We were advised to go to an eatery on the estate for lunch but it was closed on both days. All the hotel could offer us was a simple sandwich. It's a long drive to go out to a restaurant outside the estate. They are now serving a breakfast by the pool which was very nice.

A beautifully appointed cabin with views to live for!! Bonus fireplace for the cold weather at the time and the little mini kitchen is a bonus 9or would have been had we known upfront). Breakfast was the weak point of the stay. We did not unfortunately get to attend the breakfast room so the comment is limited to the continental breakfast delivered to our room (which we didn't ask for but was very nice to receive as a thought/effort). Our second stay at Silvermist and cannot wait for the 3rd!
