The location of New Inn at Coln is the best - the little village of Coln St Aldwyn is not overrun with tourists so it's more authentic and local. We loved walking the streets and popping into the local post office/community store for a bit of a natter with the lady behind the counter. (She was moaning about the bus loads of tourists to the nearby village of Bibury, which we'd seen earlier that day. It is a real pain and I think the little villages should not allow busses. They all flock to see Arlington row, a picturesque row of houses dating from the 1380's. I feel bad for the locals who have tourists peering into their windows. This is your message not to stay in Bibury if you don't want hordes of people around you. ) Back to the New Inn in Coln St Aldwyns - our room at the very top of the stairs was small but cosy, with low eaves and an en suite bathroom with shower. Lovely little picture view from the window. We slept very comfortably. The food was delicious - see pic - and the setting idyllic. It's perfectly situated to do country walks of varying lengths. Don't hesitate, book here.

It got a bit noisy as a wedding was held nearby - common for weekends - but we had ear plugs so no problem. The check in experience is a little impersonal and haphazard. One of their staff advised us to have lunch at their partner pub, The Stump in nearby Foss Cross, but we got there to find it fully booked. It would have been nice of them to call ahead and check for us. It felt like there was no real interest in us but this may be a British cultural thing. South Africans tend to chat and share a lot more :)

This inn perfectly matches the charm of the village, super cozy and with a nostalgic, almost timeless feel, yet offering all the modern comforts. Our room was spacious and spotless, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom included a tub, just as we had requested. The restaurant was also excellent, we really enjoyed both breakfast and dinner. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. We definitely recommend this place and would love to return!

We stayed on the top floor, which involved a few stairs. It wasn’t a problem for us, but it’s worth noting for those with mobility challenges.

The New Inn at Coln staff were wonderful, very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. They made us very welcome and service at the bar and in the restaurant was The food was extremely good and the vegetable sides really interesting. Breakfast was also very good. Our room no 8 was clean with a roll top bath, towels were soft and comfy bed. One small bathroom window and a small double opening window in the bedroom.

Unfortunately, outside room 8 is a large extractor fan ( I think it must be connected to the kitchen), which ran on and off all evening and through the morning. We could hear the hum, going on and off all through thd night, which made it hard to get to sleep. Be aware that the large green egg bbq is directly under the one small bedroom window, and anyone staying in room 8 would get the smoke and smell of this if the window is open. We stayed on a Saturday night and so expected a bit of noise, but late night drinkers in the garden outside our window carried on until at least 11.30pm. Realise this is to be expected when staying in a pub, but room 8 is definitely one to avoid! I am sure there were other rooms further away and far more quiet.

Gorgeous pub stay! Absolutely loved our night at the New Inn - we booked after going to their sister hotel (The Stump) and thought we’d try and different area. We were lucky it was a very sunny day so we sat outside in the beautiful courtyard. We booked 3 rooms and all were huge - beds were super comfortable. Dinner in the evening was fabulous! We loved the little ‘locals bar’ inside - imagine it would be very cosy in the winter! We’ll have to book a stay in the autumn :)

On the whole, our room was beautiful but there was the odd sign of wear and tear. There were also no toiletries for the bath which was a shame as it was a lovely roll top bath (there was toiletries in the shower but fixed/screwed in so couldn’t use for the bath). Neither of these affected our stay though - just small things that meant I didn’t give it a 10.

This lovely old coaching inn has lots of atmosphere and pretty outside seating areas. It is very much a dining destination and the bar is very small so we weren’t always able to find a seat for a pre-dinner drink. Food, including a small bar menu, is superb and the breakfasts were very good and plentiful.

Our superior bedroom was a bit rough around the edges (scuffed paintwork, badly limescaled toilet seat for instance) and was quite dark. (The tree outside one of the windows needs thinning out). Basic things like coat hooks were a miss as there is limited space in the wardrobe.

Our stay at the New Inn was perfect. All the staff we met were kind, attentive and welcoming. The room we stayed in was beautifully decorated. The bed and pillows were heavenly, and touches like the roll top bath, Roberts radio and nespresso machine really added to our stay. The food and drink in the bar and restaurant was absolutely delicious and there were so many fantastic vegetarian options. Parking was safe and easy. Wi-Fi was speedy. We would recommend the New Inn to others in a heartbeat and would definitely go back ourselves. Thank you for an excellent stay!

I have to tell you that without exception, every member of staff were first class and went beyond the call of duty and are a credit to you! The ‘ Nothing’s too much trouble ‘ came though every time which was fantastic!

I’m really having to scrape the Barrell for anything I could constructively suggest and the only thing I can say is that, (as it was particularly warm when we stayed and our Summers are not getting any colder,) air conditioned rooms would really help but that’s it. Everything else was great.

The breakfast was delicious, although the coffee was cold, but it didn't matter. Dinner was amazing, with lovely staff. The restaurant was very cosy and warm. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was amazing a very beautiful village.

The room was nice(room 9)but very small and I would have expected more from a room costing £180 per night. The paintwork in the room was very chipped and looked shabby and quite a few of the light bulbs didn't work. There was no comfortable chair in the room. We found a clump of hair on the blanket on the bed and for a room described as luxurious the bathroom was very basic. The toilet seat was yellow and stained and the towel rail was covered in rust. The toilet roll holder was also broken. The shower was very nice and the toiletries were great. The towels were lovely too. We had a lovely stay, but for the money paid I was a little disappointed. I expected a bit more

Really nice place to stay, room was clean and well appointed and warm (we stayed in the middle of December). The bed was huge and comfy, decent sized TV and tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The bathroom was clean and bright with both a shower and bath. The breakfast was lovely and just what we needed before a day hiking in the Cotswold, a good selection of cooked food and a lovely yogurt and granola dish which I'd recommend. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the public bar was a really nice place to relax with a pint by the real fire.

Can't really think of anything that didn't meet our expectations!

Exactly as pictured and better. Just what I was hoping for in the Cotswolds. Fields and quaint roads to walk. Easy to get to Bibury and Cirencester - our two recommendations for places to visit. Go to Bibury in the afternoon not the morning. And listen to the staff - their recommendations were spot on. The restaurant had more than pub food - amazing and delicious dinner menu and full breakfast - orange yolks in my poached eggs = the freshest eggs.

Nothing. All was better than expected. Parking off the street. Yes you will have to walk up stairs. Our room had a large sitting area with two couches.
