Mad Monkey Village is the perfect location. It is 5 mins away from the Center giving you a chance to escape the hustle and bustle. It has superb facilities such as a clean cool pool, high quality bathrooms and air conditioned rooms full of comfortable beds cleaned to a high standard by the friendly housekeepers. However my favourite part of Mad Monkey Village has to be the happy, bubbly staff always happy to help and especially the lovely warm pancakes made for when you wake up, alongside a vast spread of breakfast options. There are great social spaces for you to meet new people such as a TV room with smart tv and a very friendly and inviting common area.
Unfortunately I stayed during the wet season but this only means I will have to experience Mad Monkey again during the sun.

We booked a private room and it was so nice to have a private bathroom and tv after so many nights in shared dorms. The bathroom was so clean and the bed was big. The kitchen had everything you needed although it was crowded most of the day. The breakfast was nice even though it was simple
It was a 15 min walk from the CBD which isn’t too bad but there are many hostels a lot closer to the centre for the same price. The kitchen was dirty sometimes. Laundry was unavailable from 10am-3pm everyday which caused a rush at 3pm of everyone trying to wash their clothes.

When checking in, we were greeted by really friendly and helpful staff. Our rooms were clean and tidy, and even had sinks in which was a nice addition. I was surprised to find that all bathrooms are cleaned twice daily, which is the best I’ve seen in Australia yet. Also all rooms are cleaned and hoovered every day which is great. There are really good facilities, including; a big kitchen with stoves, ovens, toaster and kettles. On-site washing and dryer machines. An outdoor seating area for everyone with tables and sofas. Also a really nice pool and sun loungers. There are different hostel activities like BBQ’s and pool parties which are fun to take part in. Overall, a brilliant hostel! :)
There is nothing I haven’t liked so far.

From start to finish my stay at Mad Monkey Village was an absolute pleasure. From the moment I completed my booking I presented the staff there with a potentially difficult request. Due to my late arrival time I needed a late check in, soon after I sent my request I quickly received a message that this was no problem at all. When I arrived for my stay the staff member checking me in was very kind and attentive, informing me of the number of bonuses that staying in Mad Monkey can provide. Including a lovely free Breakfast consisting of deliciously cooked pancakes as well as toast and cereal. I indulged in the pancakes everyday of my stay ! I also took advantage of the free gym pass on offer to guests which was only a short walk away. The real highlight of my stay was the large spacious pool they have on offer with plenty of room for fun activities. Despite it being a hostel there was definitely a healthy balance between a fun and vibrant atmosphere, but if you wanted to relax and chill out this was also possible!
That I couldn’t of stayed longer at this delightful hostel!

I can’t recommend this hostel enough, stuff are quite helpful and patient, they are very gentleman, like understood I would checked in late and wait for me until 1 am, helped me put my luggage upstairs and downstairs, they know what you need when you asked and solve the problem quite well. The location is good, room is clean, view is beautiful outside my room. Also there is swimming pool which can enjoy the sunshine; There is a kitchen where everyone cook different food all over the world. People are young and fun, they respect each other and friendly.

The hostel is very social and you get free breakfast every day. It is very clean and the staff is very helpful and friendly at any time. It's a great hostel if you are planning on staying long term in the hostel. A lot of backpackers stay here for longer. Even though the hostel is a little further outside the city then other hostels you can still easily walk anywhere.
Unfortunately some rooms (for me the 4 dorm) have no lockers and the room is very small. If the room is fully booked there is not much space for your stuff. Sometimes the Wifi is not working well in common areas but in the room it was always fine.

Loved my stay here. Great location in Cairns city, walking distance to all the top spots. Rooms are spacious and beds are very comfy. Housekeeping team are great, they clean and vacuum the rooms daily. The hostel offers free breakfast which consists of cereals, toast and freshly made pancakes- perfect before starting a day of work! The pool is a great place to chill in the day and the movie room is ideal for a relaxed evening in. Staff are great for making you feel at home, so helpful and welcoming. 100% recommend this place.

All I can say is wow the hostel is like a home away from home. The second I walked in the door to the moment I left 3 Months later I was treated amazingly staff are always willing to go above and beyond to help and no task is ever too much to ask of them. The place is always spotless and the amenities the hostel have to offer are top notch. The free breakfast is also always a bonus when rushing out the door to work in the morning. I would be only delighted to recommend this hostel to anyone and would love to revisit myself someday
Nothing. It was absolutely fabulous

The overall concept of the hostel is great - you can meet people, go to the pool, have free breakfast & different activities every day
The location is the worst! It is completely outside of the city on a freeway! You need 20-30 minutes to get anywhere. I would totally recommend to book a Mad Monkey Hostel which is in the city centre. The prices are nearly the same but the location is way more convenient

Excellent complimentary breakfast every day and bbq every Monday Really clean rooms and facilities (the rooms are cleaned every day!) Common area which is catered towards meeting new people Friendly and helpful staff Big kitchen with plenty of space to prepare and cook a nice meal
It was slightly out from the centre or Cairns but that means it’s peaceful and it only takes a nice 10 minute walk along the esplanade to get into town!
