Location. It is very central, with easy access to shops and restaurants. Room was clean. Showers were hot. Reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and room service was good. Overall we slept well and had a straightforward stay.
The finish and decor were dated. The lighting in the room could be better, with bright white light in the bathroom and two small sconces on either side of the bed (our main bedroom light was out, wouldn’t turn on). Wifi was slow and unreliable. TV couldn’t play Netflix and we had trouble casting into it. You can hear occasional loud noises from the street.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, the common areas weee a little outdated and in need of overhaul. The pool was a blessing during my stay, thanks to the staff who kept it clean and accessible all week. My room and amenities were just great, good sized room and options for service.
Check in & out was easy enough, staff were helpful - my only comment - at check in there was room for improvement. there were a substantial number of guests who needed to check in around noon to 2pm and staff could perhaps be better trained to discreetly discuss guest’s individual needs and circumstances rather than repeating a company policy of ‘no check in prior to 2pm’. I had appointments to attend in the afternoon and a shower and unpack 45-60mins prior to 2pm would have meant the world for someone who had been in travel transit for 10hrs+

The highlight of this property is definitely its location. It is within walking distance not only of the restaurants and bars along the Esplanade, but most importantly of the ferry terminal (about 200m) for trips to the Great Barrier Reef and Green Island. Since the boat tours depart early in the morning, not having to drive and park was a great advantage. The train station (e.g. for the Kuranda Scenic Railway) is a bit further, but still walkable. We also really appreciated the coffee capsules and Arnott’s biscuits provided with each room cleaning – a nice touch for breakfast.

The rooms are well appointed and very large, making for a very comfortable and relaxed stay. The location could not be better, with a central position walking distance to the esplanade. Desk staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The prices are also competitive with other central Cairns hotels, including during peak season.
The hotel should have a quota for renting its limited car spaces to guests. If the quota is full, no further car spaces can be guaranteed and the hotel should not offer parking to further guests. The sign in the lobby advising that parking spaces cannot be guaranteed does absolutely nothing to quell guest disappointment at not having a parking space after paying $15 for it. Just rent the spaces you have and don't be greedy taking guests' money when they may be left without the parking space they paid for.

Great location near the Reef terminal, lagoon and casino. Room was lovely and clean. A view of the casino and reef terminal from the room was a great bonus.
Wifi was very frustrating and mostly non existent. This is so important for travellers to have decent wifi to make bookings, keep in touch with family and friends. plan the day and check flights etc. I was told at one point by a staff member that lots of students were gaming which was why it was slow. This simply just wasnt true. There were no boosters. System needs a long overdue upgrade. Ironic that the password was ‘terrific’?!

We had a hard time choosing from several hotels near the Esplanade and we were so glad that we decided to stay at Pacific Hotel Cairns. It’s prime location is walking distance to various spot like the Esplanade, Marlin Marina (for island and diving tours), Cairns Central and many in between. We were warmly greeted by the hotel staffs who are all so attentive and friendly and checking in was flawless. Our choice of stay was in Superior King Balcony Suite which was situated in the higher floors overlooking the Esplanade/Marlin Marina was perfect. Room was clean and and super spacious with amenities perfect for our 4 nights stay and bed was super comfortable. We enjoyed hanging out at the balcony in the morning and be greeted with the soothing sound of morning birds. We highly recommend staying at Pacific Hotel Cairns for its great value and location, making it perfect for your next Cairns adventure!

Excellent location - a very short stroll (2 mins) to the ferry terminal or central Cairns for restaurants, bars etc. Beautiful view from balcony over Cairns CBD. mountains and water. Staff were friendly and helpful - we arrived on a 9am flight and while our room wasn't ready yet, they were able to store our bags and provide access to a guest lounge/bathroom so we could change and refresh.
The hotel is an older building so soundproofing isn't fantastic when less thoughtful guests are moving through hallways early in the morning

Location was great. 5 minute walk to the Waterfront and Lagoon. Catamaran and boats for Green Island and reef adventures were also only a few minutes walk. So many restaurants and Rusty’s day markets and night markets all in easy walking distance. …
We stayed in the executive king suite. The size of the room and bathroom was great. Good size wardrobes and big open shower. The only thing we found difficult was the type of unusual shaped two chairs. As a couple in their 70’s it was so hard to sit on and get off these cane chairs.

The location of this hotel is great as it's right on the Esplanade close to the park, lagoon, restaurants and the peir. The casino is also very close and shops and business district nearby all walking distance. The beds were comfortable and clean, the bathroom and balcony were also clean and easy to use.
Every things was well maintained and clean and comfortable at this hotel. The rooms are traditional hotel rooms and while a little dated everything was working and clean and had modern furniture and linen. The only inconvenience I had was the paid parking in the hotels carpark was very limited so had to park on the street and deal with tickets and times which was a bit annoying. Book parking in advance if you might need it.

Staff were exceptionally accommodating and friendly. Handy location. Huge room with sweeping views. Have stayed there many times and have always been happy. Was just a little noisy this time for some reason.
Unfortunately the road noise and construction noise was a bit of an issue. The beeping pedestrian lights going every minute all night long even though no one had pushed the button was exhausting. Loud construction work in rooms above all day when we were trying to rest was unrelenting. Shame renovations couldn't happen in the off season but perhaps there was a good reason?
