Gilligan's was great, totally exceeded my expectations. Comfortable beds and clean facilities. It's honestly the place to be in Cairns, it has everything and is within walking distance to everything. They have something for everyone, whether you're a party animal or like peace and quiet - Gilligan's offers a good experience for everyone. Budget friendly, great staff, loved their merch to. 10/10 would absolutely stay again.

The showers took a while to heat up but honestly, in the tropical climate you don't really need it. Nothing to dislike for me. I was expecting Gilligan's to be a crazy party hostel but was so surprised how amazing it was.

A great place to meet people! They’ve got a great range of activities and events tailored for backpackers, from pool games and competitions to drink deals. They put on a reptile show, which was a cool surprise! The animals looked well cared for and didn’t seem stressed, which was nice to see. It also felt like a safe place to stay, with security around at night and key card access to get into the hostel. There’s laundry on site and big lockers in the rooms, which made it way easier to keep my stuff organised rather than having my bag on the floor. They’ve also got free computers to use and the option to print stuff if needed. The front desk staff were lovely and even let me store my bags for the day before my flight, which I really appreciated!

Great location! Close to the supermarket and right in the centre of Cairns, just a quick walk to Rusty’s Market, the Esplanade, and the Reef Terminal. Super convenient if you’re looking to explore the city without any hassle. The hostel itself is pretty impressive. The rooms have ensuite bathrooms and balconies, as well as big kitchens and hangout areas. They’ve got plenty of tables and chairs where you can sit, eat, and chat. There’s also a travel store as part of the hostel with awesome recommendations and deals on activities. The bar throws fun pool parties and some massive nights out. Definitely planning to return!

The location is excellent, short walk to the reef fleet terminal for day trips and some tours pick up from the hostel. The night markets, Rusty’s Markets, Woolworths and the Esplanade are just a stroll away. Great facilities throughout the hostel, with views over the city or the pool. Some great chill out areas peppered around the place with comfy couches and plug points beside all couches to get some work done. As someone who was looking to get amongst the atmosphere and have some quiet time in between, Gilligan’s had everything I needed

Had the best time during my stay! I booked an 8 bed dorm and asked for a room in the quiet area, it was perfect. I had arranged a few day trips through the travel agency downstairs, so it was great to enjoy the social atmosphere when I wanted but still be able to sleep through the night and get out on my early morning tours. The room looked brand new. I hadn't seen this room type in the online pictures, so it was a very nice surprise. The bar downstairs was good fun, had great vibes in the evening and was very social with different activities every night. The hostel has huge kitchens and TV areas upstairs. I didn’t use the kitchen the entire time I was there, I got sucked into their $10 dinner deal every night lol

Had the best time at Gilligans! Booked an 8 share dorm, it was sick. The room looked brand new, way better than the pics online. Had a big night at the attached club, loads of drink deals made the night super affordable. They play sing along tunes downstairs and do more of a techno vibe upstairs The restaurant on-site is great. Our group tried a bunch of different stuff off the menu, everything was spot on. Saw they have $10 specials during the week, but we were there on the weekend so we missed out this time. They have huge kitchens upstairs for guests to use. The kitchen on our floor was a bit busy one night, so we went up a floor and found an empty one, which was even better. Seen that each floor has huge living rooms too, appreciated this after a big night out, it was nice to chill with some Netflix to gear up for the next night. Had a blast all around, thanks Gilligans!!

The vibe is incredible, and the entertainment is on point every single night—live music, DJs, themed parties, or games nights, they’ve got it all. The bar’s meal deals are awesome too, tasty food without breaking the bank. The hostel’s facilities are amazing, they have a massive pool to relax by, a gym to work off the party calories, a powder room with hair straighteners and dryers, and spacious lounge rooms with comfy couches and Netflix. If you’re looking for a blend of great food, fun, and fantastic facilities, Gilligan’s is where it’s at

I wasn’t sure what to expect since I’m not a huge party person, but I was pleasantly surprised. I did book to stay in a club side room without realising but the staff were able to move me to a quieter room thankfully. Couldn’t hear any noise from the quieter room so I was chuffed. The bar had insane drink deals (hello, $5.50 drinks), and good live music in the evenings. Hostel has the perfect mix of chill and party vibes, so you really get the best of both worlds

Just wrapped up a stay at Gilligan’s, and it was honestly the best time ever! The rooms were way more comfortable than I expected. The common areas are huge and perfect for hanging out and meeting new people. Plenty of pots, pans etc for a group to cook together. The bar had some really good food when we didn’t feel like cooking. The nighttime events at the bar were such a laugh, the club is always going off, awesome music and such a fun crowd. If you’re in Cairns, you’ve got to stay here. It’s the place to be!

The room was large and clean The location was excellent, within walking distance of everything- Woolsworth, the reef feet terminal, city centre...etc Staff was very friendly and since we landed in Cairns in the early morning, the 24hr check in was really convenient as well

There was no remote control for the AC in our room, so it's only on or off 😂 Our room wasn't very sound proof so we could hear them start cleaning out the rooms at about 7 in the morning, and since we checked in at 4am (due to our flight), that was a bit startling. But otherwise a very nice room and great value for the price
