I liked the room, which was very comfortable and well situated.

I had booked a twin room. On arrival the room was a double. We queried this and after some time was told we could have the room with a sofa bed. I objected to this & then a lovely twin room was provided, which I was pleased with. We were provided with complementary breakfast because of this. But surely if there had been a lovely twin room available then why were we expected to put up with a sofa bed which would have been upsetting for us.

How close it was to the Theatre. It was a big room and clean (except I found a chocolate button on the floor near the bed) Parking is close to hotel but very tricky to find if new to area (maybe bigger sign to show car park road) breakfast was great and I liked that my daughter ate for free.

I would advise giving families rooms that are not near the main high street. We struggles to sleep as we could hear people from the bars and pubs which isn’t great when you have a child trying to sleep. Room 703 Would have been nice to know in advance to sign in at St George hotel as we parked, walked to St Nicholas hotel to find out we had to go back. When we came back from being out noticed others standing by the doors looking confusing about how to get in.

Wheelchair accessible room very spacious with fantastic accessibility. Really lovely accommodation!! Staff were nice and helpful. Parking a mystery until you figure out the city. Shower chair pretty good if u are a strong transfer. Shower drain didn’t work so big mess of water. Also elevator extremely small with lots of doors to get on and off it, especially with luggage so bring a friend to move your luggage. Overall very very nice accessible stay.Tea and coffee in room were very good! Location for exploring all of Colchester superb!!

Elevator small with lots of Manila doors make getting on and off elevator challenging and into halls and hotel lobby as well.

Excellent location, very central for all the attractions. Beds comfortable. Quiet inside the hotel (front room so street noisy but obviously this can't be helped). Secure entry system. Reasonable price for city centre.

Room was very warm at all times, even with window open. Appreciated the provision of a fan but didn't lime to leave it running overnight. No mirror in room for drying hair etc (screws on wall where there had obviously been one). According to the amenities listed on the website there should have been a safe and a telephone in the room, there was neither. While this did not detract in any way from our stay, if not available they should be removed from the website.

They went the extra mile to upgrade and decorate our room as we were staying there after our wedding party. We had the top floor room overlooking the high street on a massive balcony, and we could see the castle, town hall, and far beyond. It is a great location for the town centre and there is a lift if you have restricted mobility. The room itself had loads of room, and our bathroom had a separate bath and shower. Secure 24 hour access to the hotel as well, which is reassuring as it does not have a reception desk.

Dur to being right in the town centre if you are looking for a peaceful night's rest over a weekend don't expect it until after 2am because there are noisy bars opposite. The windows are of good quality so do block out noise but if you are like me and like them open at night, if staying on a Friday or Saturday and you are not out partying yourself I'd take some ear plugs!

St Nicholas is located on the High Street of Colchester Town so its accessible to anything that you needs. We really happy that halal food is just infront of the hotel The Bees, Maharani and Myra. Our hotel room is very spacious and clean. The security access to the building is excellent.

The reception is located at different building which is at St George’s Hotel which requires you to walk a bit. We came a bit late in the evening so it took us by a surprise to see nobody there and have to walk across the road to get access to the building of St Nicholas and our rooms. Be prepared with the noise especially during the weekends from the bars below.

Location was perfect! Literally on the high street close to all Colchester has to offer. Staff very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean.

Lack of air-con meant the room was hot, window opened but being a Saturday night the sound of the pubs and clubs outside made it hard to keep the window open. Although this was only a minor point for me as I was part of that noise for most of the night 😅

The hotel's location is just awesome for anyone planning on visiting Colchester or needing a few nights of stay. The room is minimalist (which I like) but comfortable. The temperature is fine, the facilities are in line with the price range too. The room is surprisingly big for a standard double.

The one problem i had is that there is no way to stream to the TV using YouTube. This could be looked into as it would be so convenient to allow guests to stream to the TV without the LG app. The other interesting thing was the hot water pressure. In the evening it was lower and in the morning it was a little bit better but not too outstanding. Its not a big issue its just something I noticed.

The staff was very friendly when I asked I could switch rooms, the front was very noisy in the first night. My second room was on the top floor on the side, much more quiet and with a balcony as a bonus! The wonderful breakfast buffet for only 8 pounds, 12 if you add a full English breakfast. It is part of The George on the opposite of the street, there you can check in and eat. Wonderful breakfast and dinner.

Location was great, I like to hear some hustle and bustle at night but I know its not for everyone. But that's what you get being on a high street. Decoration and style was great, always nice being in such an old building but the decoration and detail was spot on. A shame about being charged for breakfast as it was included with the rest of the wedding parties price. Staff were great, very friendly and helpful. Recommended getting the wings at the centurion pub down the road which was a good tip. Rooms were clean, showers were powerful, but the pillows were a bit firm. Maybe I being a princess but just being honest! Overall great stay, and would definitely stop again if visiting the area. Ps good speakers in the lobby area

Pillows were hard and breakfast wasn't included in the price whereas friends was. Nitpicking at best.
