Ashanti Gardens Guest house was a hidden gem in Cape Town. Nice old looking house from outside, however inside is all modern with nice kitchen area, room had nice towels, recessed lighting and kettle. The amenities were more like hotel room than a guest house. The hallway and the rooms had nicely framed pictures and paintings that reflected the character of the house. I've extended the stay for two more days with the help of the nice owner. Thank you very much, little did I know your guest house is an institution in Cape Town.

Just a suggestion, a shelf in the bathroom for the toiletry bag or a mirror in the room.

First time I was at Ashanti was in 2007 and now I came back with my parents and family (including my todler.) We stayed at the Guesthouses which are not in the main building (where we had to go to have breakfast and get general info). For elder people that was not the easiest move but still, they managed it and loved the breakfast! Rooms were good and the staff was amazing, as always!

They are closing the Backpackers and I got really sad about this news! They are going to keep the guesthouse though. We all know SA has some insects and we found some in our rooms. We informed the reception and well it can happen anywhere with summer heat!

Ashanti Gardens Guesthouse exceeded all my expectations. It was an exceptional experience from start to the end. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and friendly service. The staff at Ashanti Guesthouse went above and beyond to make my stay memorable and I felt right at home. My room was spacious, immaculately clean, comfortable bed, and featured a stunning view of the nearby Table Mountain. The location is another big plus because it is within walking distance to almost all of Cape Town's top attractions including restaurants, shops, & public transport. Ashanti Guesthouse is a true gem in Cape Town, offering outstanding service, comfortable accommodations, and a prime location. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable stay in this beautiful city. I can't wait to return!

Friendly and helpful staff, especially the cleaners I saw daily and the reception staff, cozy and clean, nice location and all the facilities you need. Comfy bed, lots of pillows.

It was a bit cold since it was winter and there was a bit of a draft coming in through the door, so the AC could never really warm it well. A slight touch of cigarette smell in the room or something similar, but nothing too bad.

This place is excellent value for money right in the heart of Cape Town. Basic room but you have a little outdoor area, access to a shared kitchen as well as to the guesthouse down the road which has a pool. Given the cost, don't expect luxury, but it has everything you need and very lovely staff. I would not necessarily book it if you're planning on spending all your time in the property, but rather if you're looking for a base to explore the city.

Very clean, I mean to details even hidden areas. Quality cooking equipment and amenities never depleted and good quality. A quiet and safe place. The staff is very friendly always willing to assist where possible (I could even ask for a convenient checkout time as I was there for Sanlam Capetown Marathon and I was assisted). Thanks for your flexibility where it allows.

The most perfectly located guesthouse for central city bowl Cape Town but peaceful enough to be just above Company's Gardens and the main hustle. The staff were amazing, I was travelling with my mother and a lot of luggage and they sent a vehicle to take us from the backpackers check in to the guest house around the corner. The property is so secure, very clever setup with locks and setup and a huge wrap around patio. The rooms were so comfortable. An absolute gem, I will stay here on all future trips to Cape Town.

Great rooms, great location. Access to pool is nice. Comfy beds and clean rooms. Nice with an outdoor area and shared kitchen so you can cook your own food if you want.

A bit more info regarding the breakfast would be great, only the last day did I find out they actually serve a breakfast buffé if you arrive in time.. Because I eat late, I showed up 30 minutes before breakfast time was over (by this time they cleared away the buffé) and couldn´t figure out why the breakfast staff seemed not so happy ..

The staff were exceptional, seamless check- in and peaceful stay. Cosy room with access to the kitchen and sufficient supply of coffee ingredients. Hot showers were great. Walking distance to checkers, restaurants and ATMs.

The room was spacious with a comfortable bed. It had a safe. It was a very secure entrance to the guesthouse. The staff at the backpackers location were exceptional and friendly always willing to help.

The 5 min walk down the street to the guesthouse, especially at night. As a solo traveler I felt unsafe, but I did what I could to be careful. I did have other people from my tour staying at the guesthouse but wasn't able to always have someone accompany me.
