Hotel is high up signal hill, which has an amazing view of the Harbour and cbd. The hotel, some of it newly built is on at least 5 levels wit amazing gardens. The decor inside is colonial chic and feels like an upmarket Bombay ( Mumbai) royalty residence. Service is great and the food in the restaurant was top class.

Getting there is daunting although the reward of the view makes it worthwhile. The very bulky furniture is visually appealing but not practical. Two back to back 10 seater couches in the lounge/dining room are simply too big to use., hence a cozy chat with a few guests is a challenge.

Our stay at The Dorp exceeded all expectations. From the moment we walked in we knew we were in a special place. Every member of staff at The Dorp was friendly, helpful and gave the personal touch. Location was excellent. A 10 minute walk down to Long Street for the City Sightseeing bus. Breakfast selection was amazing. We ate in the restaurant on our last evening. A wonderful meal, the starter twice baked cheese soufflé was delicious, the only disappointment that we were too full to try the homemade milk tart. We would return to Cape Town as we loved the city and there is so much more to do than we had time for, however we would only return to Cape Town if we could stay at The Dorp. The best hotel we have ever stayed in.

Excellent hotel. We stayed in the Arcadia building, and it was lovely. No complaints whatsoever about the room or the facilities. The staff were exceedingly helpful, above and beyond. The food was outstanding, the breakfast being a particular highlight. It is very calm and peaceful, an enjoyable place to spend time.

It is hard to really pick something negative. The only small thing is that the hotel does not sell alcohol, however they are incredibly accommodating for you bringing your own alcohol, and they will store a bottle of wine or two for you to have at dinner.

This hotel is absolutely exquisite. We travel quite a lot and I think this would be in our top 5 hotels ever. Literally perfect - stunning decor/aesthetic, gorgeous dining room (BYO wine and get the famous roast chicken!), amazing breakfast (shakshuka was incredible), beautiful rooms. Every inch of the property is designed so thoughtfully, it truly felt like coming "home" after sightseeing. Sometimes we didn't want to leave in the mornings - coffee on the terrace was delightful! I had read that a lot of people stay at V&A or Camps Bay, but this location was PERFECT for us. Quick and easy uber rides - ubers came within 2-3 minutes - and the location was very secure, we never felt unsafe arriving or departing from the premises. I'm literally obsessed with this hotel and miss it so much.

Nothing could have been improved it was perfect.

If soul, personality, lived-in luxury, character, true to Bo-Kaap history and culture, down to the last detail are what you're looking for, this is your place! Spectacular views of Table Mountain, Leeuwkop and Signal Hill, noon gun and all and the harbour, from the rooftop garden, rooms, dining room, kitchen down to the guest bathroom. All with breathraking views! Staff, food, garden, hospitality exceptional, well done! Salute to Gail Behr's heritage to us living souls able to enjoy her vision! One of a kind! Put this spot on your bucket-list.

Beautiful hotel with stunning views over Cape Town. Every corner of Dorp, from its guest rooms, to it’s main dining room, to it’s multiple game and social rooms, has been carefully crafted to embody a level of charm and wisdom only nourished with age; having been built a few years ago, this only reinforces the talent behind the interior and exterior architecture and decor. The attention to detail, from warm smiles from all staff, to an exquisite culinary menu, and finally to the care and hospitality shared with guests has made this hotel one of the best we’ve been to - ever.

Loved everything, cannot wait to return!

The breakfast was beautiful, with freshly made breads, fruit, shakshuka and more every morning. The grounds were gorgeous with perfectly kept gardens and lots to explore. The room was large and comfortable and the staff was helpful and gracious. Couldn't recommend more!

Completely out of the control of the hotel, but the surrounding neighborhood isn't really walkable. Coming and going requires a car or an uber.

The breakfast was amazing, the hotel has incredible views over Cape Town and table mountain and the staff are so kind and friendly. Great for dietary needs to as we had a gluten and dairy free guest and were catered for so well. The chicken was amazing in the restaurant too.

Reception could give a bit more information beforehand about the whole hotel. There's a roof terrace, pool etc and it didn't seem to be mentioned at the start. This isn't a bad thing but the hotel just has so much to offer and we only found out on the last day of our stay a few things.

Elegance is unassuming; it does not demand attention, much like Dorp. Incredibly beautiful and nestled in the Bo-Kaap, it offers breathtaking views of Table Mountain and the City Bowl. It’s an experience like no other, where one falls in love again with the simple joys of getting into bed, taking a shower, walking in the garden, or sitting down for an unforgettable dinner that evokes the warmth of home and family. The incredible staff at Dorp have a light touch and a deep understanding of hospitality. Thank you! We can’t wait to come back home—to Dorp, the place we fell in love with.

The Dorp Hotel is a must-visit destination, whether you're a local or a tourist. The decor and overall aesthetic is a feast for any art lover's eyes, the breakfast was superb and the rooftop offers one of the best views of Cape Town I have ever seen. The gardens are lush and well kept and the attention to detail in the rooms is just on another level. I will definitely be returning in the future!

Having to park your car in a random spot on the hill might be a slight drawback, but it’s not a dealbreaker, as uncovered parking is quite common in Bo-Kaap.
