The property itself is small, which I actually prefer, however, there is a restaurant where you can purchase a reasonably priced breakfast. The staff is beyond reproach. They were very attentive and took care of my every need. I felt very seen. That’s important for a single woman traveling on her own. The location is excellent. Right across the street is a mall with ATMs, restaurants, shops and a spa where I had a fabulous facial. The hotel is also walkable to the waterfront and other sights.

No wash cloths, couldn’t figure out how to get television shows and my room overlooked a “Party” street so it could get loud with conversations, especially on the weekend.

An EXTRAORDINARY Cape Town experience in this charming, unique and perfectly located boutique hotel. Firstly, the staff are incomparable. Friendly and so helpful. The manager of this establishment goes way beyond the call of duty with such friendly and helpful style. Grateful!! Secondly, the hotel itself has a unique first class experience with comfortable rooms and an amazing rooftop. Charm and comfort.!! Finally, the location is in an historical urban mixed commercial/ residential area only minutes walk to so many venues and easy easy access to the fantastic V&A. Restaurants, shopping, cafés, and galleries all at your fingertips. Colorful & Beautiful. I’m a world traveller who just can’t say enough about this wonderful experience. Where to start. The staff. Absolutely beautiful people. Every single one of them. I felt like I was talking to my best mate with every interaction. Nothing was too hard to accommodate and always with a smile. Marietjie and Lungi in particularly are just exceptional in managing this place. It’s close to the tourist hubs, city, Bo Kaap, bars, restaurants and shopping. Rooms are ample and the beds are heaven, bathrooms fresh and clean. Just a lovely experience all round.

Nothing to dislike.

The hotel is nice, but can be improved.

Cigarette butts in the pot plants on the balcony. Very unpleasant for a non smoker. The bedding was below par, the duvet was rather flat. An extra blanket would have been a nice touch, considering the building is old and the rooms are a bit on the cold side. Complimentary water will be a nice touch, considering that water is a basic necessity. Orange juice included at breakfast will also be a nice touch.

This is a 'boutique hotel' in the middle of things off Somerset Road. It has a Moroccan flavour with tight staircases and flamboyant Morooccan tiles, everywhere. Like most of the buildings in the area you feel slightly hemmed in, but the hotel is finished to a high standard, was very clean and the bed was huge. Shower was amazing. What was really fantastic was the pool bar on top of the roof. Where you could swim and have tasty snacks and order cocktails. Later we went down to the piano bar which was cosy and fun. Although the pianist was a bit too hectic for our liking.

There was no coffee or kettle in the the room and no trimmings like a gown, but there was a well-stocked mini bar. There was no phone in the room either. We live near to the hotel and we basically needed a place to stay overnight as our grown up kids were having a massive party at our house. In that regard we had a fantastic overnight stay.

Great location which is safe with a wonderful view. The service is great with fried ly faces and a will to satisfy the customers needs. Very clean and worth your money!

The only thing is the noice from the corridor. I stayed in a room next to the staircase to the skybar. So when happy people leave the bar it is evident for me and my partner when we try to sleep.

It’s a lovely boutique hotel, it’s very comfortable, it’s extremely friendly and the staff are all absolutely brilliant, it’s like your own family running the place. It’s not The Ritz 5 🌟 but it’s far more enjoyable. Great location, very safe area to walk around, the adjoining Piano bar is simply awesome, restaurants and bars and a shopping mall 30 yards away, my wife and I loved this place and we travel a lot. Breakfast is good in a slightly limited way, but it’s absolutely fine and very pleasant. Will absolutely return here and be very excited about meeting the truly lovable staff who run this very unique hotel.

This was my second visit to The Grey and I just love it there. Its really quaint, quiet with just enough bustle at reception from time to time. The location is exceptional, with no loadshedding it is near some bars, cafes, restaurants and really central. The Piano Bar nextdoor is amazing for a quick bite, some music or just a glass of wine (the tapas are outstanding!) I've stayed in a bigger room with terrace before and this time a smaller room, but both stays were comfortable - beds are a really good size and the showers are nice and hot. Really good stay.

The Grey is fantastic! Location is awesome and I was able to walk over to my favourite yoga studio! My room was clean and I loved the decor, I was upgraded from the budget room I booked so thank you! Staff were friendly and helpful.

The only thing I can think of was there seemed to be some building above my room and the sink would fill up with dust or parts of the roof but honestly it didn't bother me!

Its location is in a safe area that has a number of outings at night close by. It is only 15 m away from the V&A. It is very clean and the rooms are very trendy. The parking outside has a free spot most of the time and it is free from 5 pm onwards till 8 am next day.

Some of the rooms are smaller than others so make sure you get a bigger one if you re of need of space
