I've stayed a few times before. It's a well presented, comfortable place with good staff & WiFi. There's also a new, much larger bar that faces the road. Charging ports by the bed help too.
The bar is backpacker bar, that is cashless which is extremely inconvenient. As an international tourist, my bank card charges a small fee each time I use it abroad, as do most foreign cards and I don't want to be continously charged each time I want to buy something as small as a R30 beer. You need to have the option to pay cash. Also for a backpackers bar, The Randy Warthog needs FAR MORE charging ports for laptops & phones. I couldn't find a place to charge my phone & because of the cashless policy I had to go elsewhere for a drink.

Great room, lovely staff, Good and quiet bedroom.
It was located a bit further than expected from Green Point, so I ended up taking taxis to go and come back, which was not a big issue

Well, I’ve stayed in the shared room before moving to the private one. It’s pretty comfortable and spacious, with a huge bed and well cleaned every day. I would just suggest improvements in the window curtain since it still lets a lot of light (which is right above the window) pass to the room. Also, I don’t know if all the rooms have the air conditioning condenser in a compartment right above the bathroom, but mine room had, and it was pretty horrible. When cooling the room, it was too noisy and vibrated a lot, making extremely difficult to sleep. These things considered, I would say it is quite expensive for what it offers, so better hotel rooms can be found around for a more reasonable price.

The hostel is incredible. The room is spacious and very clean, although there were some tiny cockroaches, they only showed up at night (some pest control would be fine). Towels for free are a plus. The area is perfect, with many restaurants, grocery shops, coffee shops in the area (I’ll never forget Giovanni’s). Felt super safe. One day, just commented to a cleaning lady if she had seen my necklace around my bed, not accusing or something like this. Two minutes after she came to the room with another lady to check, and five minutes later the managed showed up in person to assess the situation (I’ve had just found). For me, was very clear how the management is serious on these issues and concerned about the guests satisfaction. Total plus.

I think there is a lot to like in this place. The layout of the hostel allows for outside chill spots, inside reading/working spaces. The restaurant/bar Randy Warthog is actually really good and fair priced, specially considering it's a travellers hostel. Location is great as well and of course the best are the staff, who are attentive, nice and genuinely caring and friendly to guests, an atitude that is contagious to the vibe of the hostel and reflects on how guests interact as well.
Not much to say really, some rooms can a bit louder than others but that's just unavoidable in hostel or communal living (not that I had any problem sleeping or otherwise).

I liked that they had many activities organised throughout the week. It set me up for friendships that I continued through my stay. The cleanliness was really good and I felt safe there, the beds were made each day and they even made the toilet paper nice and pointed each time too. I liked the bar attached to it and it had nice food. The staff were really friendly and although I didn’t use it, the kitchen looked good and there’s a spar next door where you can buy ingredients. There’s icy water on offer in the Randy warthog where I refilled my bottle which I thought was good. The water is fine to brush teeth with and use, people were drinking from the taps
If you are choosing between green point and the other location, choose this one as it’s for people who come and go. The other one had no atmosphere and had mostly long term travellers. It’s not good for meeting people. This would of ruined my experience. It could get quite noisy at night with people going to their rooms but it was still fine. A hand towel/ paper towels in the en suite on the rooms would be good as had nothing in there to dry your hands.

Fantastic hostel - Great location, Green Point, 15mins walk to V&A - Very nice vibe, including & especially at the bar/restaurant attached Randy Warthog - Very comfortable rooms (and more spacious than i expected) - Very friendly & helpful staff - Has all the amenities you need - Hostel organises daily tours to all the key attractions
- The only thing - something very, very minor in the grand scheme of things - a bit of smell in the bathroom which comes from the plumbing not being well done - and picking up a smell from the sewage line coming back into the bathroom (nothing to do with the cleaning staff who keep the place spotless clean)

In a desperate act in the middle of a night, I’ve booked a private room. There was this mf sent from the deepest of the hells snoring for 3 nights in a row, that kept everyone awake. Even with earplugs. I don’t see any other form for staff to deal with it so, it happens. The price for bike rental I think could be a little bit cheaper, but it’s fine. The tours offered by the hostel (such as Best of the Cape) are also higher than other platforms but I enjoyed it a lot, and luckily the weather was beautiful as never, so total worthy.

Such a beautiful and social spot in one of the best locations in all of Cape Town. The staff are fantastic, helping you with any needs. The in-house bar makes it super easy to meet people and catch sports games (if that’s your vibe). As a solo traveller, this hostel makes it very easyand accessible to meet new people and enjoy Cape Town in a safe and enjoyable way.
The aircondition was a bit on and off, but the staff where very helpful in sorting it out.

Highly recommended, everything is truly great. The absolute best backpacker to meet and socialize with other solo travelers in Cape Town. They regularly organize hikes, tours and activities as well as host a Whatsapp group. My room is cleaned and the bed is made up everyday so you'll always return to a very comfortable environment after your exhausting trips. It's also a 5 minute walk from the hostel to Woolworths for groceries and a Laundromat. There's also a great selection of restaurants nearby.
