Lovely pool, amazing views, located close to beautiful beaches and reception staff were super helpful.

The location is a plus and a minus. The views are incredible. It is easy to get down to the city when the funicular is running and taxis are usually fairly quick to come but the walk to the old town is approx 30-40 mins so depending on your fitness it may not suit everyone.

The property itself was amazing. The hotel and all its facilities were great. Very clean and my room was lovely.

The female member of staff at reception on the morning shift was shocking. I had come from doing a stretch I’d the Camino a few days earlier. She saw me carrying a backpack and instantly looked at me with utter distain. She twice asked if I was sure I was staying here!!! Yes. I am. Her appalling attitude was repeated the next morning when I checked out. Disgusting attitude

Location and views simply unbelievable. Decor of the hotel is beautiful.

Staff were hard to find which was a shame. Both the desk and the bar. Twice we walked away from the bar after a long wait and no one around. Hotel was quiet I guess but guests still had needs.

We recently stayed at Mercure Monte Igueldo in San Sebastián with our daughter, booking two rooms for a memorable family trip, and overall, we had a wonderful experience. The hotel’s location atop Monte Igueldo is nothing short of breathtaking, offering panoramic views of La Concha Bay and the city below. The setting alone makes this hotel a gem, with its historic charm exuding elegance, particularly in the stunningly sophisticated lobby area, which feels like a step back in time. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable, and well-suited for our family, with large beds and ample space to relax. While the hotel’s exterior and some areas show signs of age, the old-world charm more than compensates, and the rooms were reasonably priced for such a prime location. The staff were consistently professional, friendly, and attentive, making us feel welcome from check-in to check-out. The pool area was a lovely spot to unwind, with stunning views enhancing the experience, though we found the poolside bar surprisingly pricey—a bowl of nachos cost €18, which felt steep. Despite this, the overall experience at Mercure Monte Igueldo was delightful, blending charm, comfort, and an unbeatable location. We’d happily recommend it to families and travelers seeking a unique stay in San Sebastián, just be prepared for minor service quirks at the restaurant.

The restaurant at Mercure Monte Igueldo was a bit of a mystery. The food was excellent, with delicious Basque dishes that arrived quickly once we ordered, making both dinners memorable. However, the lady running the restaurant - despite being very friendly - seemed out of her depth, which negatively influenced the rest of the staff. We waited 20 minutes just to get menus each time, and we saw other customers getting frustrated as well. Despite these issues, the food’s quality made it worth it.

Fantastic place, wonderful view, great pool

Clerk at the reception tried to downgrade our room with balcony to a room without balcony, lots of talks with her while she insisted she put us in a better room. That room was a solid downgrade from what we paid (75 euros a night downgrade). After two conversations of together 30-40 minutes, we got the room we had paid for. Then the clerk meant we were upgraded. Didn’t argue with her, as we were not upgraded, but got what I had paid for. Didn’t care for food there afterwards, apart from chicken and pizza at the pool, both ok, but a bit pricey. Otherwise, the staff were superb, the location is great.

The location and view. Trust me when I say the photos don’t do this place justice. We also had a nice seaview room that enables us to still loon back towards Sans Sebastian and it’s truly breathtaking. Car parking which is free and lots of it, the friendly staff and comfortable room.

We were wondering why this place was so good value and for this view and setting could charge more, but it appears the management may be missing a golden opportunity. Have more staff tend to the bar, restaurant ans lobby area and I’d truly believe they’d make a good fortune not to mention attract non-hotel clients to eat and drink and admire the view. Trying to get the attention of staff for a drink was difficult as they all seem to be busy. Staff were friendly however but we feel a few more people to help could really make this experience grand. Oh we couldn’t get our air con working in our room, but we slept with the door open for the fresh ocean air and sound.

The World Class panoramic views from the summit (181m) of Monte Igueldo, just west of San Sebastián, makes you feel like a circling hawk staring down over the vast panorama of the Bahía de la Concha and the surrounding coastline and mountains.

Stunning location, so first impression was fantastic, but things immediately went downhill! We waited 2 hours in reception (3-5pm) to get into our room! No complimentary drinks or anyone communicating with us. Once at hotel you are isolated on top of a magnificent hill top but Hotel Service was perfunctory and drinks & meals expensive for ordinary food fair. Hotel needs to employ more staff to service customers, the few that are there are doing their very best, running around chasing their tails, but they can’t do all the jobs themselves. Senior Management needs to help them! San Sebastián is noted for its fantastic Michelin Star restaurants……..this is not one of them. Suggest you book a taxi and head downhill off into the beautiful Basque city of Donostia.

A beautiful location with a wonderful pool area. The rooms were slightly dated but very clean and comfortable. Balcony views were incredible. Staff were helpful in booking us a taxi to the bus station on our departure day.

The funicular closed at 9.30pm so we decided to walk back up, however, we took what we thought was the right path next to the funicular and ended up at a closed road. It would have been good for the route to be communicated by the staff as it was late at night and we had to flag a passing car to figure out where to go to get a taxi up instead. The funfair at the top of the funicular is a little bit noisy at times I.e. the rollercoaster etc but didn't bother us.

This is one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen from a window in my life. The hotel is located in an incredible spot, offering a stunning view of the bay, the ocean, and the city. Simply magnificent.

The hotel is medium-sized, but the staff in the restaurant and bar were clearly overwhelmed. Ordering a morning coffee and croissant took over 40 minutes. There was only one woman working behind the bar, and she seemed confused and unable to keep up. This slightly affected the overall impression of the stay. In the evening, I also asked a restaurant staff member for recommendations on where to have dinner in the city, but didn’t get any clear or helpful suggestions. Though that’s more of a minor detail.

Excellent hotel. Staff outstanding due to us not knowing the roads were closed on our checkout due to the Marathon in San Sebastian and therefore could not get to the metro station. I didn't get the ladies' names, who went beyond and above to get us a taxi so that we could get to Hendaye. Since our last visit, the hotel and rooms have all been refurbished to an excellent standard. Very clean. The in-house restaurant is well worth trying. The breakfast is good, but the cooked selection food was cold. This would be our only criticism. We did ask for it to be reheated, but unfortunately, it really wasn't any different.
