The best hostel I stayed at! Location was great: close to the main station and in the old town. It had very good systems in place, eg. there were stickers provided to put on your food. There were lots of pots and cutlery and the common room was very nice and big, with books and board games. Tea was complimentary and there was also a coffee machine if you wanted to buy coffee. Plenty of space in the fridges. The people in my room were very nice and respectful and I also made some friends. There were lockers assigned for each bed and you got your own key for them. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made me feel welcome by giving some tips on what to see. They also had a laundry service and allowed me to exchange my notes for coins. Overall everything was clean and comfortable and the hostel had a great atmosphere. I would recommend it to anyone!

Sometimes bathrooms weren't the cleanest, the floor was all wet in the evenings. Also it was the first time ever I had to put on the bedsheets by myself in a hostel which can be awkward especially for top bunks

Bus stop across the street. Main train station a 10 min walk. Kitchen was clean, and had everything needed to make meals. 2 kinds of breakfast cereal and milk provided at no charge. Free tea, and coffee available for a small fee. Staff at reception were wonderful. I would stay there again

No lift from ground level to reception on second level. A few more stairs to reach lift. Helpful staff carried my luggage to/from ground level. Room was very bare, and private room with shower was more expensive than another hotel where I stayed in Bern. The mattress was not very comfortable, it had a saggy middle

Location absolutely perfect for everything in Bern. This is hostel accommodation, not a hotel or B&B. The accommodation is therefore basic and what you would expect for low cost accommodation…….BUT, everything is very well organized. The kitchen facility is extensive and spotlessly clean. The common room is spacious. The lady on reception was so friendly and helpful and seemed to us to love her job of helping people. A bonus that we didn’t expect was complimentary breakfast cereal and milk provided in the common room in the morning. Bearing in mind the nature of the accommodation, we could not fault it.

The location was amazing, right in the center of the old city. We loved the lounge and the kitchen. There were even things like rice, pasta and spices provided. It was also nice to be able to do laundry. The room itself was fine, the bathroom and toilets were close to the room.

Could be better maintained and cleaned.

Having a kitchen was a huge bonus as I was able to cook my meals. The facility have a big living/family space to dine in and social hang out. Both the kitchen and the social space created opportunity for travelers to meet up and connected. I feel safe staying at this place because the main space and main door requires key access during after hours.

The noise from the surrounding bar/restaurant can be quite loud during the weekend. It can be tough trying to fall asleep at night. Since we have to share the space with other travelers, the room can be stuffy with unpleasant odors sometimes but having the windows could help but then the street noise factor. :-)

The staff was really kind and helpful. I unfortunately got my wallet stolen from my bag in the city at night, and it had the keys to my room inside. I called the emergency number (which can only be found inside of the hostel -but I had a guest let me in as reception is closed after 10pm) and they sent the guards promptly to give me access to my private room, and then someone to change the key lock (at night) so that I could sleep in peace with a safe lock. The next day, the person at reception (I believe his name was Oli) was super kind and helpful giving me advice on how to make the report of the theft at the police station.

The location of this hotel was very central in Bern! It is a hostel type hotel, so showers and toilets are found in the hallway, and shared with other guests. The common area with a kitchen, tables, chairs, and couches was comfortable and spacious. The staff was wonderful. We had to make our own beds, but the sheets were provided. If you stay 3 or more nights, towels are provided too; otherwise, you must bring your own. I decided to float down the River Aare, because it was very hot one day of our trip, and the hotel staff were helpful in recommending where to get in the river safely, and they also loaned me a dry bag for free!

There was no air conditioning. Opening the windows allowed for a pleasant breeze, so it wasn’t too inconvenient. But it was very hot when we arrived, so initially we were disappointed.

Nice and clean hostel with very friendly and helpful staff! The beds were comfortable and it was not cramped in the room. There was even a sink in the room. Location was right in the center and incredibly convenient for walking and public transport.

My only complaint was that another guest removed my laundry from the washing machine within 2 minutes from the cycle ending. Although this was not a reflection of the hostel and rather a concern with another guest, I might recommend the hostel posts some rules for using the machines and removing other guests' laundry.

Bern Backpackers Hotel was a fantastic place to stay—clean, quiet, and comfortable. The staff were kind and very helpful, especially the receptionist (I think his name was Oli), who even offered me a free Red Bull—thank you if you’re reading this! The café and kitchen area were well-equipped, and the bed was super comfortable. The location is unbeatable, as it’s close to all the key sights and attractions in Bern. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the city!

Everything was great

perfect location, right in the heart of Bern w/ everything close by; on foot and with backpacks 10 min to main station. Very nice old, typical building. Very nice and functional room with great view over the rooftops of Bern (5th floor) and private sink. All perfectly clean. (Shared) Toilets and bathroom perfectly clean. Nice main room to eat, sit, chill... Super friendly and helpful staff at reception. The perfect hostel.
