It was perfect (10+). Location of hotel is excellent - little bit out of the main crowded area - surroundings of train station (1km from it and it is really crowded there even now - off season). Hotel provides car to and from train station if needed. Hotel staff was wonderfull, especially at restaurant. For breakfast - it is rich with a big variety of choices. Also we recommend restaurants 5 dish course (we ate there 2 evenings in row even so, that we rarely are going to restaurants) - everything was delicious (even for vegeterian one of us). Wi-fi is also good. When (not if) we will come again - we will stay here.

The hotel is well organised. Its in a good location with outstanding mountain view. There is free parking. Most of the staff were incredible. But one of them wasnt and treated us like we are thieves.

The bathroom is a little small but its not a big deal. One night before we left the property, my friend took a nuts from the bar and the reception lady start yelling at us and called us thieves. It is unacceptable and she ruined our fantastic stay. We went to get something from the car, and when we wanted to get back to the hotel she just shut the door in front of us and didnt let us in. We had to ring the bell a lot of times until we found our way in. I asked her for her name and she refused to tell me what it was. This is not a way to talk or treat guests that paid for the rooms, no matter what the reason is.

This is a quality hotel with a good location. Very nice area indeed. One should note however that walking the pedestrian path from the village to hotel includes a high hill up and vice versa going down to the village center. It is ok when you are fit. Food: we had two dinners at the hotel and a few drinks in the lobby bar. All was nice and good quality. Staff in the restaurant and reception was also very nice and helpful. The sauna area in the hotel basement is good, including two saunas (hot & medium) and nice relaxation area, indoor and out. Dress code: none, towels available.

Basically all works here like a Swiss clock. However, we would have bought the First gondola tickets at the hotel reception as one person said would be possible and so to take advantage of the discount coupon we received during our arrival. But when we tried to buy tickets the next morning, it proved to be impossible, for some reason. No sweat, we bought the tickets via internet, but of course could not utilize the possible discount.

The staff are friendly and welcoming, location is absolutely mind blowing, what a view! Our family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children) enjoyed ourselves thoroughly here this weekend just before Christmas. We saw snowfall and the Mountain Views are breathtaking (sounds cliche but it’s true). There is a local bus outside of the hotel (124 at the time of writing) that goes in 2 directions, to Bodmi where there is a ski school (10mins) and to Grindelwald towards the main town/railway (also 10mins). Bus runs every half hour but stops around 7pm. The hotel give you a timetable and guides. You can walk to town to the local restaurants however be very careful it is steep and can be slippery in ice/snow! The rooms were spacious enough, warm, clean, well lit and have that Swiss chalet charm. Rooms might be sound proofed, unsure but once the front door is closed, I could not hear anything- even with my noisy kids in the corridor, so perfect for light sleepers. At the front of the hotel to the right is a ski room down a short stairwell where you can keep your equipment, skis and boots. The hotel partner with Buri sports (in town) where you can rent ski equipment, they can drop and pick up at the hotel if you ask kindly. This hotel is located 10mins drive away from the main railway station. We travelled from Basel to Grindelwald by train, which took just over 2.5hrs with one change over- so very easy to get to. Breakfast was good, continental, juices, tea and coffee provided. They do an evening menu every day. Not overcrowded and just right.

Nothing, I was impressed at how super efficient the place is especially the warmth throughout.

Stunning views and great location for the gondola to First. Lovely staff in the breakfast resturaunt and in the traditional resturaunt. Excellent fondue! Heaven to sit out on the terrace and watch the mountains and relax. Good size room and sweet welcome plater with fruit and water.

NB THE SHUTTLE DOES NOT RUN UNTIL 7AM. Owners daughter not very helpful in particular at reception We tried to organise a taxi to take us to station before the shuttle started and she gave us a number and told us to ring ourselves. No luck so ended up hauling our suitcases the 20mins to train station.

Absolutely gorgeous cottage style hotel with beautiful views from the top of the hill with free parking and location close to the main street. Delicious buffet style breakfast with wide variety of food options and great coffee machine to begin our day just perfect! Views from the outdoor restaurant terrace were absolutely breathtaking. Very friendly reception staff and clean room with a balcony. Sauna was a bonus however didn’t have a chance nor time to try it. I’m sure it gets used much more in winter time whilst we visit in August.

The only downside of our stay was that our next room neighbor kept coming out on the balcony to smoke and the smell of of the cigarette smoke was coming into our room which for non-smokers isn’t very pleasant and so that we obviously had less privacy since the balconies are pretty much connected and only divide with pots of flowers.

We had an amazing room with a balcony with a great view. I loved waking up to our view and sitting outside on the balcony admiring the view. But the only thing is that the hotel is situated up on a hill so it was tiring having to climb up the hill every day. Other than that, it's an amazing hotel.

no AC but I know this is common in Europe. Since there wasn't AC we left our balcony door and window open but because we left it open, we can hear our neighbors baby crying and people dining at the restaurant. It made it really difficult to sleep. We had to take sleeping medication just to try to fall asleep.

The service of the hotel staff..... Karen I believe is the manager" she got to know me "the wife"...that I was having issues with the heat.....I asked for ice and she filled an entire ice bucket for me.....then after that when she saw my husband she would give him a filled ice bucket to bring to me. She was Awesome! And the food they serve there is amazing......you put your dinner order in the night before if you want to eat there......then you choose if you want to dine inside or outside.....delicious food with beautiful presentation!

It was quite hazy the first 3 days which took away from the view.....But that is out of their control.

My recent stay at Hotel Kirchbühl in Grindelwald was nothing short of remarkable. Breakfast at the hotel was a daily treat with its wide array of options. Whether you're craving something hearty or light, there's something for everyone. Accessibility is another plus. During the ski season, the local bus stops right in front of the hotel, making it extremely convenient to explore. Also, a scenic footpath leads you directly to the center of town – a lovely walk amidst stunning surroundings. We chose the half-board option, and it's safe to say that each meal was a culinary delight, showcasing the skill and care of the chefs. A special mention must be made of the Christmas Eve and Christmas dinners. These were not just meals; they were festive experiences that added a special touch to our holiday stay. The atmosphere, the food, and the service were all impeccable, making our Christmas at Hotel Kirchbühl a memory we will cherish. I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to the 4th generation of hotel owners. Their commitment to maintaining the legacy of hospitality and excellence is evident in every aspect of the hotel. It's their personal touch and attention to detail that truly sets Hotel Kirchbühl apart. In conclusion, Hotel Kirchbühl stands out not just for its amenities and location, but also for the exceptional experiences it offers. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Grindelwald, whether for skiing, hiking, or simply a peaceful getaway.

This hotel has an outstanding location, being situated on an elevated site and offering a large open space on the property. The room had a beautiful view of Grindelwald in the valley, looking at Glacier Canyon Grindelwald and having the massive Mattenberg and Eiger mountains to the left and right of the glacier. The place is absolutely relaxing, the air is clean and deeply refreshing, and in particular the water at the hotel taps is better than any bottled water, as it's provided by the nearby glacier. Cable cars to Grindelwald First are within walking distance and a bit farther are the state-of-the-art Eiger Express tricable cars to Jungfraujoch, the "Top of Europe" peak.

Nothing to mention here - only that our four-night stay was too short for what the place has to offer.
