Location was good for both Alt stadt touring and getting to the main trainstation. The breakfast was superb and when you consider the cost of food in Zurich, it was a deal, I would include a room with breakfast.

My check in experience was uncomfortable. The elderly gentlemen at the front desk seemed genuinely bothered by me. He was condescending and rather rude. When I asked if they had a drink of water, having schlepped all of my luggage from the train station, he completely ignored my question, proceeded to look for the missing key to my room. When he returned he said curtly, you are all set you can get water from the faucet in the room. This is a service industry! To make a guest checking in feel like an intruder is unacceptable. By the way, I am not a picky person and try to be most cordial and undemanding at all times, I don't expect a lot except common courtesy and a kind welcome when I check in to an establishment.

We loved our stay The position was wonderful. In the heart of the old town - on a lively and attractive square , surrounded by nice places to eat , in easy walking distance to the station and the main sights of Zurich We had a small attic room which was well organised to use the space efficiently , and was very comfortable The window looked out over the square , which provided endless entertainment Breakfast was excellent Staff were helpful -and we especially valued being able to pay extra to stay on before our evening flight

Be aware that not all the rooms have the marvellous aspect , and that the lack of air conditioning could possibly be a problem at some times

The location was excellent, close to station and buses whilst being in the pedestrianised part of the city. The breakfast available didn't have the biggest choice but was absolutely sufficient and we enjoyed it. The hotel has everything you need for a short break whilst being a little dated in the room but all everything works and was comfortable. Suitcase storage was available too which was a big help.

Im struggling to find too much really other than minor points. Hotel is getting old and would benefit from some upgrade work but didnt detract from our experience at all. Another pillow in the room too would have been great but thats it!

Hotel Hirschen overlooks Hirschen Platz a tiny characterful square in the Old Town. Our room 804 had 2 windows which gave us good ventilation and a dual aspect over the square. We felt like we were experiencing “Room with a View” as we were overlooked the comings and goings. Location is excellent: walkable to train station and key sights.

The hotel doesn’t have air conditioning but we knew that before booking so no problem. Access is via stairs until you get up to reception and then there is a lift to floors 3 through 9.

- Good price compared to the “too expensive” hotels of Zurich - Clean rooms - near train station which is great for people travelling with luggage - The very sweet receptionist lady who checked me in and out, allowed me to leave my luggage for hours after my checkout inspite of the limited space at the reception desk. - tea/coffee tray was perfect - small fridge and fan were very handy

-The entrance/reception needs renovation, it gives a wrong first impression of this beautiful building . - some people would find it difficult to carry their luggage upstairs to the reception, glad Im fit enough to do that myself - shower curtain could be replaced with a proper shower door , maybe not possible because of the limited space - an extra pillow in the room would be better

Hotel Hirschen is perfectly located. Near shops and restaurants, walkable to the river and all of the sites that Zurich has to offer. The owner/front desk staff was very friendly and generous with suggestions for places to eat, get coffee, etc. The room was an adequate size and the bed was very comfortable. On the floor we were on (3 or 4), there was a small patio we could access.

The breakfast was tasty. The room is well and convenient organized The room has a kettle to prepare a tee/coffee. The location is great with a lot of possibilities to eat, relatively close to the central station (by foot or by tram) and also, by foot to get to all major sights

There was noise at night, clearly heard from the room from the area around (the downside of the central location) There is a steep staircase to get to the reception with luggage, with no lift (there is a lift to all other floors except this).

Location is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of old town and only about 10 minute walk from the main train station so very very convenient. Good value for money. Lovely staff and they were very kind to store our luggage for a few hours after we checked out.

Only downside was a view out of the window (on to another building), but then again location is the advantage here.

All was good. A good bed (without plastic undercover, which horrifies me in many hotels); there was always a friendly person at the desk, day and night; breakfast served natural yoghurt and Bircher-Benner muesli; a nice lazy chair for reading in the room (which I miss in many hotels, even some more expensive ones); excellent location, but no noises at night. Wonderful!

All was good.

This was amazing value. Right in the heart of the old town in Zurich and a really well renovated hotel. Staff were amazing, my room was whisper quiet, comfy bed. I am a cynic when it comes to hotels, but I completely surprised by how great this hotel was.

The main entrance seems a bit dank and it does not match the stellar experience waiting inside.
