Close to Zurich HB and old town. Breakfast, the usual spread in Switzerland hotels, is fresh. Kettle in the room.

Had to lug trolley bag up a flight of stairs to reach the hotel from Zurich HB. Later learnt there’s a slope further down the road for those arriving with luggage. Helpful to include in the direction.

Th location was ideal -close walk to the train station 5-10 minutes max. Charming and newly renovated. Everything was so clean and appealing. The staff were exceptional- always eager to help, answer any questions. Their two recommendations for dinner were perfect- Chuchi for typical Swiss meal with excellent mushroom cheese fondue . I also enjoyed the delicious lightly seasoned salmon. St Lucia was a lovely Italian restaurant with many choices, linen table cloths, fire oven. Indoor and outdoor choices for tables. Due to imminent rain we chose indoor seating. Both restaurants were reasonably priced. We conclude our two week trip back at Hotel St. Joseph- we are very happy to go back there again!!

Shower water could be a little warmer but no big problem

The hotel's location was a pleasant surprise. It's in a nice, quiet spot that feels a little removed from the hustle and bustle, but it's still incredibly close to everything you could possibly need. The train station was just a quick 10 minute walk away, which made getting around and out of town easy. While the lobby and restaurant were a bit unassuming, the rooms were the real highlight. My room was beautiful—very modern, spacious, and well-designed. The bathroom was brand new and immaculate. A huge plus was the air conditioning, which was powerful and effective, offering a much-needed escape from the heat after a long day.

The location of this hotel is excellent, located a 5 min. walk from the old historic town and many restaurants, 10 to 15 min. walk to the central train station and the shopping area, and 15 to 20 min. walk from the bus station ( where most tours start). The breakfast area is very nice and the food selection is very good. Hotel staff were very friendly and check-in / out went very smoothly. We had a king room booked, and we're upgraded by the hotel to a king suite, which was excellent and had a huge living area / bedroom, kitchen and patio.

The air conditioning in our room was awful / insufficient, most notably as our visit coincided with an extreme heat wave.

I was very happy after reading conflicting reviews (some stating that this hotel does not have air conditioning) to find that this hotel does have air conditioning. This was the one hotel in our tour of Switzerland where it was cool enough to sleep comfortably even with a duvet. It was also very convenient to have a small refrigerator in the room (again the only hotel that offered this). I had the misfortune of acquiring an eye infection right before or during travel from the US to Switzerland. After the first night, when I asked the front desk staff about an urgent care, the staff pointed out that there is one at the main train station (7 minute walk) and a pharmacy as well. They were reassuring about the quality and reasonable wait time of the urgent care. When we asked about storing our luggage for the day because we had a reservation for a different room the second night (we had changed our plans late in the game for the busy August season), they coordinated with housekeeping and got us into our second room at 9:00 am so we could move our luggage in and so I could rest during the day after going to urgent care. The next morning when we checked out, the front desk staff asked whether I was felling better. One thing to note is that the hotel is up a set of stairs overlooking Old Town. This can be a little challenging getting there with luggage when you are tired after a long flight, but there is an alternate route with a ramp. Not being in the middle of Old Town also has the advantage of less noise!

Beautiful boutique hotel near the university and within walking distance of the historic district and the main train station. Great breakfast in the morning. Although we weren’t able to experience it due to rain the patio off the breakfast area looked inviting.

Liked the property but getting there was a challenge. I wish the Hotel provided specific walking directions. The Hotel is located on a hill and there are two ways to access- stairs and a ramp. GPS directs you up the stairs. 😕 Not easy with luggage. There is also considerable road and sidewalk construction outside the train station. Again GPS points you through the closed roadways. Luckily this wasn’t my first time in Zurich and I was able take another route. A brief warning on the Hotel website would be helpful.

Rooms were modern, immaculate and well laid out. Bed was comfortable and we had a great view of the city. We were grateful they were able to accommodate our young son with no extra charge. Breakfast was plentiful with a great amount of choice and was delicious. Would definitely stay at Hotel St Josef again if ever we came back to Zürich. Wonderful stay and highly recommend.

This in no way caused us any negative impression of our stay and we were only there for one night. However the room cooling system wasn’t as effective as we would have preferred. But personally we like a very cool room to sleep in and the weather was quite humid. Perhaps it was user error on our part and maybe some instructions in the room would help. But this is a real minor point. We really did enjoy our stay.

The staff is very helpful, nice and truly friendly. Breakfast was good, Hotel is very clean and it's centrally located. Lot's of restaurant just across the street after the big building. I would stay here again. Traveled with my elderly Mom and daughter. We arrived a little bit earlier than the check in time, and they accomodated us right away. There is elevator, water fountain in the front of the hotel to fill up your water bottle, which is very good. You can walk to and from Train station but with my 80yr Mother with us, we opt and got a Taxi. There's Uber, which is probably best and cost less

Location was perfect to walk around main attractions in Zurich, also hotel is like 5 mins away on foot from train station. I stayed in queen room solo but size was good for even two people. Room was very clean and tidied up everyday. Breakfast was amazing, variety of dishes was perfectly selected for every type of breakfast choice, also tasty and fresh. I'd definitely recommend people to pay a bit more and stay here rather than getting an Airbnb from further away outer city. Cant forget the add - rooms have air-conditioning!

WOW! This very welcoming and comfortable hotel must be the best value-for-money accommodation in central Zürich! The staff are wonderfully hospitable and kind. Even before we arrived they went out of their way to make us feel welcome, even though - as we discovered - there was a huge event taking place in the city, which must surely have added to their workload. Staff member Susanna even advised our friends, who drove down from Germany, where they could find free car parking on Sunday, and welcomed them to join us at the hotel for breakfast. (A varied and plentiful breakfast is already included for hotel residents, and we found it reasonably priced for our friends to join us!) I really appreciated the varied and good quality gluten-free breakfast options on offer too! The hotel is ideally situated for those arriving and leaving by public transport. It's only a 5 minute walk from Zürich Hauptbahnhof, and hotel staff are happy to organize a shuttle to take guests to the airport. Despite being so central, the hotel location is quiet and restful, within easy walking distance from transport stations, the river Limmat, good restaurants, and other central city attractions. We highly recommend this friendly and comfortable hotel and would gladly return here anytime. With many thanks!
