A beautiful oasis in the heart of the city, Aksara Heritage was the perfect place for us to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. From the moment we walked in we were treated like royalty, the staff always had a smile for us and were super helpful and obliging. Breakfast every morning was lovely, with a special dish each day, more hot dishes, some traditional treats and all the usual things you'd expect as well. The room was clean and cool and quiet, just what we needed after a sticky and often wet day outside. The most magical moment was one night with the monks in the temple next door chanting, the rain and mist and the delicious smokey smells from the market in the street outside.

From the moment we checked in, the service was next-level. The front desk and staff were incredible—helping us arrange transportation, an emergency dental visit, local massage and nail salon spots, and even scoring tickets to a show at the Old Cultural Center. Every need, handled with care. Our room was stocked daily with fresh water and delicious local treats—a small but thoughtful touch that made a big impression. Breakfast? Fantastic. The chef personally made gluten-free waffles every morning for my friend with dietary restrictions. That kind of personal attention is rare. We stayed for 3 nights, and the location couldn’t be better. The vibrant Sunday Market is right outside the door—absolutely worth timing your visit around. And just next door is a serene temple, nearly empty in the early mornings, offering a peaceful moment before exploring the city.

We loved it!

Beautifully designed boutique hotel, great location right in the heart of town, within walking distance of many shops and restaurants and still surprisingly quiet. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the food was excellent (had dinner and breakfast and both were great) and the room was clean, comfortable and stylish. We did have the issue of hearing a kid run around in the halls and room above us (we were on the second floor and I guess the ceiling must be quite thin) but that isn’t the hotels fault but rather the parents who aren’t able to tell their kids to be respectful, but luckily that was only during the day and we were out most of the time.

If you are very noise sensitive, maybe ask for a room on the top floor. Aside from that, no complaints at all!

Perfectly located in the heart of the old city, this Chiang Mai gem was everything we hoped for and more! Highly, highly recommend the family room — it was ideal for three of us with separate beds, which made sharing a space comfortable and fun. The staff were beyond helpful and genuinely kind, the restaurant was absolutely delicious, and the pool provided a peaceful, refreshing break from the heat. The entire atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I’m so glad a friend recommended this hotel to us — we’ll absolutely be staying here again next time we’re in Chiang Mai!

Staff are absolutely fantastic, always smiling and went the extra mile. The room is great, the bathtub works, the TV actually had local channels and cable (an often overlooked item with a lot of hotel rooms, their tvs are basically just a screen with nothing connected), the fit-out was fresh, clean and well designed. Great location, nice balcony and the little snacks in the room were delicious. Also, the hotel breakfast was surprisingly good.

This is a very minor gripe but the pool was super chlorinated. It was like swimming in a mild bleach solution. We had noisy neighbours a couple of evenings but they eventually shut up. Perhaps the hotel could remind guests that this is not a lads' party at Ibiza, so let's not act like animals. If your crappy techno is blasting from your room so loudly that I can't hear my own TV, maybe save that for your full moon party.

The Aksara is a high quality boutique style hotel in a great location in Chiang Mai towards the Eastern gate of the Old Town. The hotel has good qulaity furnishings and has been well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast was part small buffet and part cooked eggs menu - no complaints. The pool isn't the biggest but was fine for the number of guests using it. Finally, I would rate the location really highly as you can easily walk to all the main attractions and night markets + the airport is about a 15 minute drive away.

While the hotel is high quality, there are many other cheaper places to stay in Chiang Mai. However, I had a great trip and would stay at this hotel again.

Everything was just as it should be for a relaxing holiday. A medium-sized hotel in Lana style- with very good upkeep. Great room, huge-comfy bed with a shower and separate bath. We faced (second floor) the busy street (with the "fantastic" Sunday street market we could not hear it when we went to bed, but great to watch the passing people. The pool is lovely and a good temperature. STAFF- are exceptional. 100 ticks for every staff member (especially Nam-who sadly has left for a bigger hotel) They could not do more for us. We were there for a family birthday spending 10 days (long-stay guests get two free mocktails) HIGHLY Recommend hotel, as long as we can get a room when we go back :-)

If there were somewhere outdoors - "undercover" from the rain ( we were there in the rain season) say, adjacent to the pool bar area - it would be the hotel with everything. But hey- 99% is good anyway.

Lovely Lanna style hotel in old Chiang Mai, close to all the main sights, restaurants and bars - which were all easily reachable on foot. Rooms was vere nicely decorated and huge, and included a bathroom almost as large as the room itself with double sink, a bath tub and shower. Complementary tea and coffee and water was much appreciated in the scorching summer heat. Doors have excellent insulation so my room would stay fairly 'cool'; aircon worked excellent and was also very quiet. I enjoyed swimming in the pool and looking at the trees lining the hotel. Breakfast was good, quite varied. Service is excellent, personnel very friendly and helpful.

I could hear the people above or next to me talking or taking a bath. While the doors' insulation is perfect, the walls' and ceiling's is not. If i have to name anything else, I would suggest to add a bit more choice of bread for breakfast (e.g. multi grain bun or something like that); and as a woman I also lacked a full mirror in the room (instead of the horizontal one in the bathroom and a tiny one on the desk in the room)

Good location near the beach and short walk into the town along beachfront

Need soundproof rooms as could hear people talking in neighbouring room. Doors onto balcony also let in outside noise eg long tail boats up and down beach and singers/ entertainment below at poolside bar.

Stunning boutique hotel, a pure tranquile retreat. The hotel is beautiful from the moment you walk in. Greeted with a very warm welcome, the staff couldn't do anymore to help make the stay better, they were extremely helpful from the start, even asking if we had any plans or trips planned and offering recommendations. Walking out of recpetion, the hotel opens out onto a stunning pool, surrounded by the hotel on three sides and stunning palm trees helping create natural shade and cool the area. The hotel is designed in a heritage style, with white wash walls and beautiful wood details throughout. Our room was up a few steps to the first floor and what a room! Excellent size with a hugh comfy bed and a balcony over looking the pool. The bathroom was big, with a seperate shower and bath (which again was huge). Breakfast was included, and offered up a range of continetal options as well as freshly cooked dishes ranging from eggs to curries, and it was all delicious. My partned is gluten free and they had a special gluten free menu as well so she was well catered for. The hotel is in an excellent location, very close to the Tha Phae Gate and a short walk to the night bazaar, as well as a good range of resturants and bars. Our only regret is not staying long enough to fully enjoy the hotel due to have trips booked and being out most of the day.

The only improvement I would suggest is to offer drinks earlier in the day from the pool bar. It doesn't have to be alcoholic, even soft drinks or fruit juices. We were around the pool in the morning and it was a hot day and wanted a cooling drink, and there was nowhere in the hotel to buy a drink before 11am.
