They picked me up from the airport exactly as arranged. As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I mentioned I was being picked up for a spa appointment and would not have time to get dinner. I asked if they could arrange dinner to be ready for me in my room when I arrived. This happened exactly as arranged and the dinner, a pad thai, which they selected on my behalf was delicious. The staff were always keen to help. As a lone female traveller, it felt like a safe place to stay.

The rooms are a little bit older though they did make the effort to freshen up.

Amazing space to come and relax after a long day sightseeing. The decor is well done and the rooms all face the pool. It never feels like it’s super busy here even when the property is full. The staff are delightful, especially the security guard who would always go out of his way to say hello and interact with my kids. The free mini bar and bracelet/soap making are excellent additions to the stay. My children also received free gifts every morning at breakfast.

My only negative is that the pool is a mineral pool. This means it stains your swimwear a brown colour which is quite hard too remove.

This was our 3rd time at Smile Lanna and we loved it everytime we came! The hotel is really a hidden oasis where you forget you are in a vibrant city. You can easily alternate a quiet pool day and visiting the beautiful city of Chiang Mai at walking distance. All staff are incredibly nice and really try their utmost to give you a more than pleasant stay (special mention for the security person who will always make you smile with his enthusiasm). The complimentary pickup and dropoff at the airport are also very nice. We will definitely come back to the Smile Lanna if we ever visit Chiang Mai again.

Beautiful!! Amazing how thay have managed to create a small paradise in the center of a town like Chiang Mai, the design and the landscape made me feel like I’m on an island, all of it just a turn away from the main road. The staff was absolutely amazing and helpful beyong my expectations. very nice breakfast Offered free shuttle from and to the airport, and when the car had an accident, they immediately sent another shuttle to pick us up, although we were 200 meters from the terminal. This hotel deserves more than 10 in the overall score, I will definately return.

I had an incredible stay at this hotel! The location is absolutely perfect—close to major attractions yet peaceful enough to relax. The staff went above and beyond to make my experience special, always welcoming with a smile and eager to assist. My birthday surprise for breakfast and room decorations were heartwarming! Thank you! The swimming pool was stunning—clean, spacious, and perfect for a refreshing dip. It truly felt like a private oasis. And the breakfast? Simply outstanding! A wide variety of fresh, delicious options that catered to all tastes. This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. I can’t wait to return! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay.

Hotel Smile Lanna is a true oasis of tranquility. It’s not your typical five-star chain hotel, but instead, it offers a lot of intimacy, unique decor, and an exceptionally dedicated staff. The level of customer service here is outstanding—the team is always smiling, attentive, and genuinely engaged in making your stay special. One thing that might take a little getting used to is the pool water, which is salty and mineralized. Children, in particular, may need some time to adapt, and even for adults, the first dip can be a bit surprising. However, the pool itself is wonderful—no crowds, plenty of free sun loungers, and a relaxing atmosphere. The rooms, all featuring balconies, are well-designed and cleaned daily. A complimentary airport transfer is a great added convenience. Breakfast is generous and diverse, combining classic options with local flavors—there’s something for everyone. The hotel’s location is fantastic, right next to the Old Town and just steps away from a beautiful park entrance. We are truly grateful for a wonderful stay and would like to send our best regards to the entire hotel staff. We hope to return someday!

Staff at Smile Lanna you are all so kind and welcoming, from arrival to departure, and every moment in between from breakfast to happy hour (with free drinks and snacks), and the lovely (heated) pool. It is such a gem in a green environment and with very child friendly also with many spots also in the shadow. And the security guard - very friendly, helpful and also great with kids. The rooms are very nice, large beds!!! Happy to have met you all and we definitely highly recommend.

The only thing I can think of is that the rooms have very thin walls. It’s on the signs that you must not be too loud.

The pool is alright and the breakfast buffet would take a few days to get bored with.

Before you even get there, the Smile Lanna Resort makes it very clear that (1) they don't serve alcohol, (2) they do not tolerate smoking and (3) they won't let you check in if your passport name differs from the booking. That's a lot of negative stuff before you even arrive. So don't get too excited about this place. It's alright but nothing to rave about.

Location good, near to Old Town and Night Market. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choices. Nice Swimming Pool which was very refreshing! Room was spacious and very clean and had balcony overlooking the Pool as we requested. Hotel also provided free taxi to Airport on the day we left which was a nice touch.

Not a lot we didn’t like but hotel but we could have done with Fan on the Balcony to make it more pleasant to sit and have coffee etc.. Also maybe a small rack on balcony to hang wet to dry might have handy.

Felt like a luxury hotel, staff were fantastic with our baby, and a few added complimentary extras just made it really special, such as bracelet making and soap making in the mornings and snacks from 1-3 every day. A really special hotel, 100% recommend!

Only thing is that we are vegetarian. Whilst the breakfast is amazing, they put veg and non-veg food next to each other without separate utensils, and sometimes in the same large serving bowl. I explained this to reception and they starting doing one utensil per dish.
