The property has a wonderful central location, with the night market literally at the doorstep. They got a lot of vintage fittings and furniture, giving it a charming vintage vibe. Though some pieces can do with some upgrade/refurbishment. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, making the stay very pleasant. Breakfast was simple but adequate, offering both local and continental selections. There’s also a small pool—nothing fancy, but perfect for a quick soak after exploring the city. We visited in late August to early September during the rainy season, and most afternoons were spent chilling on the balcony attached to our room—a spot we loved.

The only drawback was the lack of a lift, which was mentioned in fine print and often could be missed out. While it wasn’t a problem for our group, it could pose a challenge for elderly guests or anyone with mobility issues. So do make sure to ask for lower floors if you have elderly guests or kids in group.

Lovely stylish traditional heritage hotel without feeling dated. Located down a nice quiet small street yet close to temples, shops and restaurants. Rooms were a good size with plenty of storage and spotlessly clean. Beds were large and comfortable. Location was convenient for temples and restaurants. Staff were friendly and professional and helpful when needed. Pool was good to cool off after a hot day.

We’re being fussy here, but a hotel bar would have been a nice touch to enjoy an end of day drink amongst their beautiful gardens. Balcony furniture was oversized and left little space to move around.

Great location, and a perfect base for our first trip to Chiang Mai.hotel is older traditional style but spotless! We booked an executive room near the pool but it was a bit noisy for us so we moved to slightly smaller room on level one. The Bed was comfortable and we ate an enormous and excellent breakfast daily with lots of choices. Staff are kind and attentive. The Pool area is clean and nice but loungers are a bit worn. Staff will assist with tour bookings. Fabulous restaurants nearby!

All was great, but there isn't a cafe, restaurant or bar on site which we thought might be nice for socialising with other hotel guests or grabbing a cuppa after a day of adventures. The floors here are so clean they can be slippery!

The location is right in the middle of the old city. On the Sunday night market, you literally walk 30 metres and you're in the middle of the market. The staff is lovely and accommodating. The breakfast is ok, but I did like the local food section that changes daily. The pool in the middle is great, especially during a hot day or even in the rain. The maintenance manager is one of the nicest people we met in Thailand.

Unfortunately, during our stay our water heater broke, after two times trying to fix it the staff swapped our rooms. While the staff were great the electric water heater in the new room was not so great, takes ages to switch to hot water and doesn't last that long either.

The location is right among the old town but super quiet at night, walking distance to many temples and places to eat as well as the night markets. Super clean and comfortable. But what stood out for us was the staff and the service we received. I contacted them in advance to let them know my mother in law has a gluten free diet and was wondering if there would be options at breakfast. They assured me they take allergies seriously and we could discuss with the staff when there. However, they went above and beyond our expectations! On the first morning they brought her some gluten free pancakes which was a lovely surprise, and for the next 2 days they offered her 2 options (pancakes, bread, bagels and brownies!) they really took it seriously and it seemed they really wanted to help and for her to have plenty of breakfast options, it was a lovely touch. The staff also helped us organise a couple of excursions which were great and reasonably priced. The guy in the housekeeping team was always dashing to try and help us with our baby stroller on the stairs etc. Overall a fabulous place and we would definitely stay again

We weren’t happy with the condition of the baby cot but we discussed this with the staff who were very concerned and wanted to resolve to our satisfaction- we felt they really wanted to help and rectify the situation, which they did without any push back. The service we received from the staff really was top notch!

I absolutely loved this hotel, Our room was spacious, clean, looked like luxury and a lovely balcony view, very peaceful! Staff were very friendly and attentive. They assisted on my partners bday and set the room up whilst we went to the elephant discovery, and had the room set-up as i requested. The breakfast was ok a little improvement on options, more English breakfast options would have been great. But overall this hotel was the best one I stayed during my stay on Thailand. Thanks you again for a lovely stay and making my partners bday special! 😇

Just the breakfast, I am very used to English breakfast options. Not used to having pad Thai for breakfast, fresh juices maybe. Other than that the staff were lovely!!! The hotel was fantastic 😇

The comfiest bed I have ever slept in. Large, exceptionally clean rooms with great air conditioning. The staff are so friendly and even let me have a late check out at no extra cost. They helped arrange a driver for the day and we're always happy to assist with anything. Nice small pool even though I did only use it once, but nice to have. In a great area of town in the centre of everything but down a nice quiet street so you didn't hear any noise. Booked the executive double room which is on the ground floor with a small garden area off the balcony/seating area and convenient to get to the pool. Loved my stay, thank you Viang Luang team 🙂

Nothing, everything was excellent.

The property is beautiful and quaint. Lovely decoration in the rooms, nice and spacious. The beds are very comfortable which is sometimes difficult to find in Thailand and the hotel has a nice pool. All the staff are lovely and helpful.

The rooms have very thin walls. We had noisy neighbours who didn’t really respect the times to be quiet. Probably more about the people than the rooms but perhaps the hotel can reiterate to people when they check in to be quiet when returning home from a night out and not be so loud on the balcony (1am was way too late)

The property is gorgeous and the room is as well. The view of the pool from the balcony and the sound of the running water from the pool was awesome. The construction is pretty solid. I didn’t hear my neighbors at all. The bed was SO comfortable! The staff was very friendly as well. The location is great! Will definitely stay here again next time!

The water temperature was hard to regulate in the shower and there was a long delay when adjusting the temperature so it was always too hot or too cold other than a few seconds because I just couldn’t get it right lol. The bath was much easier and was really nice!! There were some VERY loud drunk kids yelling near the pool one night but that’s no fault of the hotel and it was short thankfully.

The location is pretty central. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is excellent and they even pack you a take-away if you are doing an early morning tour and don't have time to eat in the restaurant. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the gardens are pretty and well maintained and our room had a lovely balcony with nice views of the garden. Very much enjoyed the stay and would definitely stay here again.

Only downside would be that there is no lift, so if you have heavy bags, you have to carry them up and down the stairs.
