Absolutely lovely hotel. They make you feel welcomed from the beginning with a glass of port wine for me and sweets for my daughter. They've let me check in 1 hour earlier and from the moment you walk through that doors you can feel this friendly atmosphere from polite and well trained staff and they make you feel special right from the beginning. Room was very clean and cleaners have been very friendly always smiling and saying good morning, beds very comfortable and pillows felt like laying on clouds (i need buy myself this kind of pillow). Location was perfect with restaurants and shops around. Hotel is just between Matosinhos Beach and all the atractions in Ribeira and Bolhao area with easy access to both by bus (bus stop is just outside the hotel) or if you like you can use bolt and uber for very reasonable prices. It's hard to explain but there's something special about this place and it must have something to do with the people working in there because people make the athmosphere. Crowne Plaza Porto is a luxury hotel with incredibly comfortable beds—the best part being the comforter. The bedding was spotless and crisp. Housekeeping staff were very humble and friendly, making the stay even more pleasant. Breakfast was delicious, offering a wide variety of options every morning. The only thing that bothered me, not just at this hotel but throughout my 14-day trip across Madrid and Portugal, was that the bathrooms—particularly the showers and hard-to-reach edges—could use a bit more polishing and detailing.

We got a room at 14th floor which had a very nice view of the city and ocean. The room was up to CP standards, clean, comfortable. Breakfast was very good with a nice variety of foods offered. Hotel staff pleasant, kind and ready to assist. We received some very good pointers from hotel receptionist on where to go for dinner, how to reach downtown, etc. Hotel is easily reachable from the airport - some 25 euro taxi ride. It is relatively close to A line of metro (10 minutes walking) which leads to downtown. If you need to rent-a-car, like we did, car rental is across the street, some 3 minutes away.

I visited two hotels in Portugal, and my experience tells me that you should deduct one star from the hotel ratings. For example, CP is 5-star hotel but does not have a pool. Elevators get crowded and it takes some time from 14th floor to the lobby as it stops at almost every floor. As in every hotel I ever visited, I could use firmer mattresses (I am having back problems). People who like to stay in the 'fun area' will find this a bit distant.

The hotel has fulfilled my wish (when booking) to have a silent room, far away from the lift. The staff was very helpful and attentive. They even organized a special present/surprise for my wife's birthday anniversary - a bottle of champagne and cake!

Breakfast menu as for the 5 star hotel can be with a wider choice. I also would recommend to the hotel to contact GPS/Google maps service provider and to change arrival spot on the map in a way that taxi and other drivers can approach hotel's main entrance or parking straight from the main street but not from the back.

I had to shorten my stay by 2 days as my wife didn't feel well. The staff said they couldn't help me get a voucher for 2 days for the next time I visit, as I'm a client of BOOKING.COM and NOT of the Crowne Plaza Hotel or the IHG net. As I want to continue traveling with you, please provide me with a voucher for the last 2 days in which I didn't use the room and paid for it. Everything was impecable. Perfectly clean and neat. The breakfast was awesome. The staff went above and beyond to make everything happen for us.

The spa facilities were too small, just one small little room. And the working hours are ridicilous: from 11am to 7pm. When you work you cannot possibly go to spa. And If there is anyone at the same time in the spa as you, it gets awkward and crowded. Other 5* hotels have put more effort and thought in the spa facilities.

The staff was VERY kind, helpful and pleasant. We would like to express our special thanks to Miguel ! We like the atmosphere at the hotel' the excellent breakfast, dinner in the resaurant... Thank you! The room is spacious, very clean and has anything you need.

We did not find anything wrong. Maybe the distance from the city center, byt the quiet neighborhood was an important advantage for us!

Ideal location for family. Great quality rooms, very comfortable beds. Restaurant dinner was good quality and value too.

It’s a shame there are not some rooms with a walk in shower. My mother, with whom I was travelling has some mobility issues and climbing into the bath to shower was not ideal.

Good hotel, a bit of renovation would be needed, but the facilities and especially the bed were great.

Breakfast was average as well as the quality food for dinner in the same restaurant, which opens its door for everyone. And if you won't have a reservation, you might not be able to eat at all.
