The hotel was good, breakfast good, the lay out, of the food area was just right, a few of the staff, when asked nothing was to much, very much appreciated, when you go away for that many days it's nice to know your looked after!!! Even the breakfast chef, I think it was him, acknowledged you, and with a smile, my appreciation to the colored waitress, missed getting her name, and the staff whose names I did get because they were truly hospitality staff are, Troy, always jolly willing to help, and knows hospitality 😊, Thomas on breakfast very pleasant, had customer care, and acknowledged you when asked for something, and well Chibuzo, he checked us in, and the welcome was warm, fantastic, had a conversation, told to contact him if needed anything else, asked about our journey, and had a very warm welcoming smile, all 4 does your hotel proud, I know what it's like to work in hospitality, people are quick to complain, but it's just as nice to tell people when they've done GOOD!!! 👍😊, thanks to those staff, and chambermaids on our floor, did a good job, it's our second time, and we will be back at some point, 😊😊👍

Location was ideal, really easy to find and a great base for my plans over three days. Staff were excellent, nothing was an issue, special mention to guy who I think was the duty manager (young scouse guy), really friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was exceptional, especially when you have a large appetite like me. Would certainly recommend.

Not having air-condition in the bedrooms was an issue. My stay was during a very hot/humid time of the year. The hotel did provide a fan in the room but this did not do a lot to help. Because of the heat, we needed to keep the bedroom window open, unfortunately because of the traffic noises from the nearby dual-carriageway along with the heat, sleep was very difficult.

The hotel was clean, the rooms were comfy and the staff were all lovely, friendly and all had time for a chat rather than rushing off. The location was good, not too far out of the city but with lots of parking which was ideal. Free breakfast was a bonus on top as we had a long drive home and the food was nice.

I can't really say there was anything. The sausages at breakfast were not gluten free (I have coeliac disease) but I didn't need them as there was plenty of other cooked options. Location means driving or using a form of public transport into the city but, again, this isn't a major issue as there are lots of options.

Dislike - pillow was firm not soft and fluffy, bed was hard could of need a mattress topper or softer cushion bed, as woke with back ache, Breakfast - sausages was over cooked and hard, hash browns needed to be cooked a bit longer, bacon was overdone, chewy, Like - clean rooms, friendly staff, hotel is dog friendly and enjoys the little doggie bag you got but just need remember some dogs could be puppies and can't eat hard sticks like my pug but he enjoyed the ball, Breakfasts loved the variety of cereals and yoghurt and fruit and drinks option, and you could do a just grab and go to take some away,

Easy to get into town for us, parking was a real plus and really appreciated it The staff. The staff here from evening to breakfast were outstanding. I mean seriously outstanding. I used to work for HIE and go to many of the sites and I think this hotel has the best staff I’ve ever met. They were attentive, knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was by far the best HIE breakfast I’ve EVER had, I’ve done my fair share of breakfasts too (including cooking them) but it was delicious. Please, please pass on my thanks to all at Newcastle Holiday Inn Express. Also, best nights sleep I’ve had in a while.

There wasn’t more to do closer but that’s a push because I cannot fault the hotel in any way.

Great location, really easy to walk to the metro centre so lots of options for eating and we were able to kill some time at the indoor golf! Lovely and clean, comfy beds, decent shower… no complaints! Although breakfast was busy (they have a very helpful guide on what time is best to get there!), staff were happy to cater for our vegetarian son.

Nothing really! Check in was a little abrupt, but we were quite late and there had been a change. Breakfast was busy, and they were really helpful, but it would have been good to know in advance that we’d need to wait for the veggie stuff to be cooked fresh… if we were needing to have gotten to our event for the early session, we’d probably have had to abandon breakfast! Really that would be the only thing though, we will definitely return if we need to come to this area again!

My partner and I stay here regularly. We only live about 40 minutes away but we go here just to get a change of scenery. The staff are friendly and there is always someone available on the front desk at any time of day or night which has not been the case in some other hotels we have stayed at. It’s good value for money and with it being right next to the Metrocentre and a short distance from Newcastle there is plenty to do.

It would be great if they had an option to pay a small extra fee for a late checkout. The current one is 11am(11am-12pm is standard for most hotels), and I am not a morning person so it’s a bit of a stress having to be up and out by that time. Travelodge charge an extra fee for the option to check out at 2pm instead so it would be great if this was an option here as the Holiday Inn is kept to a much better standard than the Travelodge we have stayed in in the same area.

Breakfast was great & good choice of Coffees machine at breakfast ☕ comfy bed, like mallows 😆😍

Unfortunately on arrival, I had ask staff if they or I could sweep up the glass which was in the carpark after I had given our reg details etc They immediately cleared it up, but feel it maybe should have been spotted early & cleaned up before the usual check in time 🙏 can improve for next time .plenty of space in the room, hair dryer, hanging space for coats . Room for our bags after shopping. Loved the location & walk to the Metro Centre & bus station to get to Newcastle... excellent location 👍👍🥂 Happy New Year a great stay , lovely staff who have worked at that Holiday in many years 🙌

Easy access into and out of city plus free parking. Comfortable bed with choice of pillow hard / soft. Blackout curtains. Large shower good Dove shampoo and body wash. Mirror with hairdryer together! Iron and board together! Free tea and coffee in reception are great 👍 Kettle in room extra top up in reception. Good wifi all round. Grab and go bags and cups if needed for quick breakfast. Hot cold buffet breakfast all included on stay. This was better hotel than our expectations and we will stay here next time

If I had to be very fussy then the bacon was overcooked if you were not there when it was put out and it carried on cooking in the hotplate dish BUT it was edible Lighting in bedroom was a little dim as just lamps no actually Lighting

Really friendly greeting at reception on arrival. The room was clean and comfortable. The Dove products in the bathroom were lovely. Breakfast was great - a good selection of hot options, cereals, fruit, toast, preserves, croissants, fruit juice and hot drinks. Great location - Metro Centre 5 min, city centre 10-15 min drive away. Plenty of free parking.

Minimal electric sockets in the room, particularly next to the bed to connect your phone to charge. Quite a few people having to queue up to get a table at breakfast.
