We had a fantastic stay at the Manor House Hotel on Lindisfarne. Steph, Monty (our dog), and I all loved it. The bed was wonderfully comfy, breakfast was excellent, and it’s properly dog-friendly – which made the trip even better. It’s worth remembering this is a small island community, not the middle of London. Some of the complaints I’ve seen in other reviews about things like a lack of concierge service or having to ask for another toilet roll are, frankly, laughable. The charm of staying here is exactly that: you’re part of the unique rhythm of the island. The staff were great – warm, welcoming, and clearly doing their best, even when the place gets busy and they’re run off their feet. If you come with the right expectations, you’ll have a wonderful stay just like we did. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be back.

The staff, the room, the food, the breakfast - you cannot fault this hotel for the excellence in these areas. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the quality and taste of the food was amazing. Breakfast was one of the best breakfasts we have had in the last 4 weeks touring around the UK. Richard on breakfast service made sure the layout and provisions at breakfast were spot on. The food at breakfast was a very high standard - we will certainly consider returning

Some information or notice in the rooms about last food orders would be useful as we missed the last service time on the 2nd day.

Fantastic location in the village with views over the sea, ruined abbey and castle. Close to everything! Parking on site which is useful as it's very busy when the causeway is open. Good breakfast but terrible coffee. Rooms are clean and large. The windows open but there's not fan or aircon. It's under new management and we look forward to the Manor "upping their game." as it has great potential.

It all feels a bit sloppy at the moment. You let yourself in and let yourself out. Carry your own bags up 2 flights of stairs. The waitress points to your table. Everything is done but it feels like no one really cares. Don't eat dinner there. Food and service leaves a lot to be desired. Go next door to the Crown and Anchor Inn for dinner - you need to book! Food is great. Go to Pilgrims cafe for the best coffee and baking.

The staff who looked after us for the majority of our stay were friendly and cheerful. The views from the garden were some of the best on the island. We had a comfortable bedroom although a little warm for us: However the island is so quiet that we could sleep with our window open. Our bathroom was quite small but adequate, with a nice powerful shower. Breakfasts were really good, with a gluten free diet accommodated for very well. We had excellent crab sandwiches for a lunch, including gluten free. Evening meals were well cooked and tasty although it would have been nice to see a few more gluten free options. We would definitely stay here again.

You definitely pay for the location here. Did feel it was rather overpriced, especially as our room didn't have the views (overlooked by other buildings, with motorbikes and parked cars). Staff were brilliant with great food. Let down by having pre-booked dinner in the restaurant, but on arrival hadn't been booked in even though we'd had confirmation. This luckily wasn't an issue as they weren't busy but ended up with a table in the bar, which was a little disappointing, but fab food and service made up for it. Also, no cocktails were available as mentioned on their website, but that's being picky! The room was clean and comfy with great facilities and the breakfast was probably THE best I've ever had. Overall a great stay and would go back.

The location, right next to the Abbey, was excellent, as was the sea view from the room. The included breakfast was fine, a traditional English with a smattering of Scotland (haggis) including 3 eggs! The hotel is reasonably central to the town so all is within walking distance.

The price in Booking.com was £30 more than the room rate if booked directly at the hotel, given the time of year. Luckily, our room was locked and we had to get another which wasn't as sold so the hotel let us have a selection of keys to pick our preferred room. We picked one overlooking the sea and the Abbey, which probably was at the rate we paid.

The hotel is next to the Abbey and overlooks the water and the castle, so the view from the breakfast room is amazing. Our room overlooked a yard and rooftops but you probably get a better view if you have a deluxe room. Staff are lovely, especially the lady who does the breakfasts, cleans and seemed to pop up everywhere - definitely would have been the Housekeeper in olden days! She and the chef came in early on the day we were leaving to make sure we could have a cooked breakfast before leaving to catch the tide. The hotel is at the heart of the village so close to pubs, restaurants - it has its own restaurant which was great - shops and museums..

Not overly important to us as Holy Island should be a compete getaway from technology, but internet access in our room was poor and patchy in the public areas.

A stately old pub on Holy Island right next door to the priory remains and views over them from the dining area and gardens. Perfectly located to walk to the castle or down to the cove to look over inner Ferne and the seals. The staff were really friendly and engaging and overall the stay was as expected for a pub stay.

The main detractor for this property was the shower. Really poor pressure and the shower head wouldn’t stay in place and flopped all over the place. We also asked for glasses as there were only plastic cups for our bedside water. It would have been nice to have had some sliced fruit and yoghurt for breakfast as well as cereal, toast and the cooked options. Given the price charged this is not an unreasonable expectation. We have resided at superior properties able to provide the above and for less.

The family room with sea and castle view was excellent. This is the third time we've stayed in the hotel, and always book the same room. The location is excellent, love it here.

We were slightly early arriving, but we'd had a long journey, so went to reception which was all in darkness. A guy came through from behind the bar, and abruptly said, "check ins not till 3", and started walking away. I asked where I could park, as the car park was full. He said "car park", while still walking away. I told him the car park was full, to which he replied, "out there", pointing to the road outside the hotel premises. Which was also full of parked cars. I pointed out that I needed a permit to park out of the hotel grounds, but he said I didn't need one, as no one ever comes and checks.

There is no doubt the location is its selling point and you are paying for the view, should you wish to choose a sea view room. The bed was very comfortable and we got up and left our hotel room to watch the sunrise, but this can easily be seen from your window. The food doesn't have a good rating on certain sites, but we had a fantastic dinner and breakfast. The reception and waiting staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

There were a couple of places that had no signage to 'Mind Your Head' which if you're over 6ft and not familiar with the building and adjacent to your door, it could cause and accident, and did. The staff were informed and will be addressing this. I didn't like being asked to leave the lounge/bar area and vacate to the restaurant while they had a staff meeting. When you have paid £228.00 for a room (including breakfast), it's not something you'd expect and I have never experienced. The plug hole and the toilet fastenings could have been cleaner, and again, just a small detail, but noticeable. No decaf tea in the room and this has been the case for every hotel we have stayed in and not great for those with caffeine intolerance.
