The hotel is a short walk from the station and an 8 minute train ride from Birmingham New Street. Mackenzie and Paul were wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The room was beautiful and thoughtfully done with absolutely everything you could possibly want in a hotel room, bath robes, slippers , Clarins products, biscuits etc etc etc Breakfast was perfectly cooked to order with a huge choice of continental too. Mackenzie provided paper bags in case you wanted to take a pastry with you.

It’s originality & decor & very comfortable bedrooms. Hearty breakfast. Parking on site & ideal location for Villa Park attendance.

If it could be picked up lock, stock & barrel & moved to a location befitting the building, interior & friendly, helpful staff, it would have scored 10/10. Ironically it was picked for its location on this occasion, close to Villa Park & yet having stayed there now, it deserves to be in a ‘better’ location.

I thought the breakfast offering could've been stronger. Croissants served in a plastic box looked straight from Costco. Maybe a choice of pastries laid out on a nice plate? Coffee was a bit weak for me (I like it strong :-). Scrambled eggs was nice but could've had a bit of garnish etc.

The Aston Tavern is such a beautiful building and the room I stayed in was just as breathtaking. I personally loved it's traditional, eclectic aesthetic and extremely comfortable beds. The bathroom was gorgeous with a great shower and complimentary Clarins products! There was a lot of choice at breakfast and the staff were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. I would most definitely stay at the Aston Tavern again when return to Birmingham.

Nothing really, I'd only say that from the outside of the property you can't tell how beautiful it is inside. I would highly recommend to anyone on the fence to go ahead and book!

Friendly staff. Great period decor even though it was a complete renovation in the last 10 years. Keeps the authentic "peaky blinder" feel. Fantastic location for Villa Park. Would definitely stay again. Despite being directly below an overpass, noise was not an issue.

Notice going on locally apart from drinking in the pub itself. Any restaurants or things to do all require a short drive

Absolutely outstanding! The hotel is very clean, well-maintained and stylishly decorated (Victorian-style). The staff is very friendly and helpful. We were received very warmly. The hotel has a tavern - a typical real English pub, which is incredibly impressive. The pub is a must visit on a match day. For tourists who want to be at the Aston Villa match, there is no better place to stay. Definitely recommended! Excellent English breakfast

Friendly staff made me welcome when my train was cancelled at Birmingham New Street and I was stranded overnight. They have obviously spent a lot of time choosing antique furniture to give the hotel a real vintage look.

The service was outstanding, especially the man at reception. He waited for us at 2:00 in the morning and allowed us to check out late at 12:00 in the evening. His service made us feel like we were at home. It was one of the best experiences I've had in the service industry

Beautiful luxury hotel at a decent mid price point.

Check in was slightly chaotic due to large crowds for the BTTB concert, but request to check in late was kindly met. Room was uncomfortably warm, albeit largely due to hot weather locally.

Perfect location for match day at Villa Park. Some nice touches in the rooms. Easy to get to the train station to go to the Bull Ring etc. Breakfast was really good.

was very quiet in terms of guests so the pub was only opened if we needed it. only one other family staying. Rooms were oldy-woldy but great to see and experience.
