Greeting was amazing, a lovely chap gave us a very warm welcome at the entrance steps as we were going in, he said Welcome to the Grand Hotel whilst he was helping someone else with their cases, he asked us if we wanted him to carry his bags, we said we were OK and he took us up in the lift to our room, very friendly. At reception another friendly man welcomed us and asked if we wanted a drink of water from the tray, he went and got us one each. The receptionist was quite friendly. We were early (12pm) but our room was ready. The hotel is beautiful and clean. Room very big and bathroom huge. Nice big beds, good mattress and bedding. Toiletries of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided along with body lotion and 2 robes. Tea/ coffee making facilities with coffee machine and fresh milk in fridge. We had booked Madelines for lunch and it is a beautiful room with very friendly attentive staff. The lunch was lovely too. Good breakfast choices and buffet. I was pleased they had decaf tea.

On checking in the receptionist said breakfast was not included which I thought we had it included, £250 is a bit hefty for one night without but we paid an extra £18 each and she took a debit card payment, however at breakfast the next morning the lady who checks you in said we were not down as we had not paid. She rang reception who confirmed we had, this was embarrassing ! We had the full breakfast, my bacon was not really cooked enough as the rinds were soggy, the sausages were overpowering as too much herbs. Black pudding was very strange, very dry as though too much oats. The hose on the shower was leaking. I did tell reception on booking out and she just apologised. On checking out there was confusion again about payment, we took a time to get it sorted.

The Grand is so welcoming. Soon as you enter you are hit by its class. The whole hotel smells divine. It's so serene, calming the staff aren't running around they seem to be so calm and reassuring. When we checked out I had a few shopping bags so the receptionist very kindly placed them all into a beautiful Hotel bag and also offered us a few bottles if water as it was a hot day. Will be returning . Friendly staff, beautiful surrounding and a relaxing stay

Nothing to not like.

I had a great stay at this hotel. The breakfast was very good, with a nice variety and fresh options. The location is excellent — close to everything and very convenient. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially the breakfast team, who made each morning a pleasant experience. Highly recommended!

I was somewhat disappointed with the Afternoon Tea. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but the overall experience did not meet the standard I anticipated. The service was very slow, and the quality of the food and presentation fell short. Unfortunately, it did not reflect the level I had expected.

Just a superb property with a great vibe, especially as the price was comparable to the Holiday Inn but for so much more class and comfort. The staff attention to the customers was above a beyond. The beds, the room generally, and the showers were great. A huge bonus was the jazz/blues club downstairs. Such a great atmosphere with sublimely talented artists. Everyone was in a good mood and so friendly. The ‘club’ serve food way later than the other bars in the hotel. Highly recommend and we are booking to stay again soon. Conveniently situated in the town. Walking distance to theatre and shopping. Great local restaurants like the Ivy and Danasces. Both good for Coeliacs. Ensure you book a table in the bars early.

This hotel is in a more peaceful part of the city centre right opposite the Cathedral. Parking at B4 was easy and it's a short 5 minute walk to the hotel. The whole building is clean and elegant with lovely original features which juxtapose well with the contemporary design. Our rooms were big, very clean, very comfortable bed. The bathroom felt luxurious with a nice towelling robe and ample towels plus divine shower gel, shampoo etc. There was even a yoga mat and a Crunchie bar (not had one of those for years but a Cadbury classic). The staff were all very friendly and helpful and seemed genuinely happy to work there. I loved everything about this hotel and it would be my first choice visiting Birmingham again.

We have stayed here a couple of times. It is a beautiful building. The room was lovely & kept very clean & tidy during our stay. Head down to the bar & try some of the cocktails, you will not be disappointed, they are superb, as are the staff. Great decaf coffee & a lovely hot menu to choose something from, lots of fresh juice options too.

Check in was slow.... The bed base was sticking out the side of the bed which wasn't great for a 5 star hotel. Tried to push it back in but no joy. Unusual not to see some dairy free yoghurt on offer at breakfast, although they did bring me some each day once I requested it from the kitchen & it was delicious.

Great location, very clean and new looking, nice decor, good sized rooms and bathroom. Spicy margherita in the bar was so good and very spicy as we like it!

The water in the shower was very hot and took a bit of time to cool down, signs on the shower handles are not very clear to which side is hot/cold and which way is the rain shower or hand held one. The Madeleine bar was very nice but we had a drink there the Friday evening and service was extremely slow, took 15mins until someone took our order then another 10mins until our drink came, then we had to leave 10mins later.

The hotel is beautiful and the location is superb. Just a quick walk from the Victoria st entrance / exit of the railway station. We were attending a concert at the town hall and it’s only a 5 minute walk from the hotel so it couldn’t be more perfect and plenty of eateries in temple row/st. Our room was lovely and very clean. Most importantly the bed was very comfortable, not too firm, not too soft. The shower was lovely and plenty of hot water with Penhaligon toiletries. We had a deluxe room and had a lovely view of the cathedral. We had breakfast at Isaac’s and the food and staff were lovely. The gentleman who booked us in (apologies we didn’t get his name) was fantastic. He booked us in quickly and efficiently and later when we were all in the lift, he took the time to enquire what we were doing that evening and if he could book us a taxi or assist in any way - he is a credit to the hotel. All in all, a lovely experience and we will definitely return to The Grand when we’re next in Birmingham.

Room was available early. Room was lovely. Staff were all great.

My only niggles would be that their was a wedding on at the hotel and the outdoor garden area was out of use to other guests as it was reserved for the wedding also the music on the evening for the wedding was VERY loud and kept us awake until it went off. Granted it did turn off at a fair time but we had had a busy day and we're hoping to get an early night sleep but that unfortunately didn't happen. Not worth moaning about at the time but maybe worth asking if they have an event on that could maybe keep you awake if you like us are after an early night.

I send a message to the hotel or I even called twice to ask to the direction to their discounted (which was not discounted in the end, even I entered my Reg number at reception) partnership Car Park. I was told it’s 5 min away. I thought by now I little walking map could have been provided, as the Sat Nav is not clear with the footpaths to the Hotel. The Hotel is very poorly signposted. At the entrance no help with luggage up the stairs at the entrance. That’s not a 5 Star Hotel! Not a nice welcome at the Hotel. Bar around 8 PM was nearly empty and we got drinks after our food arrived.
