Location was perfect for a city break, 1 min walk to train station (across a road from 1 of the exits) & 5 min walk to Bullring. Hotel itself is beautiful and luxurious! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Our room was ready early and we were able to check in prior to the check in time without extra charge which was amazing.

You are not able to control the temperature on the air con unit of your room - even with the radiator off, the room was still too hot most of the time. Only 1 window was not bolted shut but that was in the bathroom.

Lovely hotel with lovely, friendly staff. Anna on reception was exceptionally helpful in moving me to a quieter room once I mentioned noise from a 'boy racer' car outside.

The 2.50 am evacuation when fire alarm went on in the early hours of Tuesday 19th. There was no detective given on what to do or where to go. This could have been an intruder with a weapon and as a solo female traveller was unsure whether to venture out of room. We were outside when the night porter finally showed up. He then unwittingly locked us all out and had to ring for security. Feel it c would be ha n dy if there was a phone in room not just a QR code which some older people couldn't deal with. I did think there may have been some sort of gesture made to compensate for getting us all out of bed and into the night. If there was I didn't get any.

No access to internet TV - No YouTube despite the app being shown on TV. Very hot bedroom & unable to lower air con temp below 20 degrees Fan was full of fluff so circulated all over bedroom! Bed over blanket too heavy itchy material Toilet roll holder screwed to very bottom of wall making it very difficult to reach, especially if you have a bad back! Breakfast disappointing & coffee too strong

On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful member of staff on reception. We had great conversation and she was helpful in explaining the tram route for us to go sight seeing for the Ozzy Osbourne Experience. The building itself is fantastic and has lots of amazing features within it's design. The suite we booked was very comfortable and spacious, especially the super king sized bed. A handy fridge for drinks and an overall feel of luxury. 10 out of 10. The bar staff in the evening and at breakfast in the morning were very pleasant and very helpful and couldn't do more for you. Nothing was too much trouble for them all. Breakfast was delicious too, we both had full English with plenty of toast and tea.

There's nothing to dislike in all honesty.

The property was absolutely stunning, by far the nicest hotel I’ve stayed in while in Birmingham. The staff were amazing & made me feel so welcome. I loved the little touch of lemon water available in reception. The rooms were incredibly spacious, including the bathroom, which had an excellent shower, large fluffy towels & luxurious Elemis toiletries. The location is unbeatable, right opposite Birmingham New Street station. The whole hotel smells incredible & there’s always someone at reception 24/7. The bed was big & super comfortable too, everything about my stay was perfect.

Room wasn’t ready until 3pm but was ready if we paid £45

The building is right opposite New Street train station which made it easy to find as that was our preferred means of transport. It's right in the city centre. The shops are literally on your doorstep. We had a 15min walk to the Utility Arena. The hotel had a historic yesteryear opulent feel. The room was a good size, clean and the bed was huge and comfy. The shower and toiletries were very nice. My breakfast, a full cooked breakfast was nice and kept me going all day. Overall well worth the money.

The bathroom door has opaque glass the whole length. Not very discreet. The ham sandwich from the bar was dry. We couldn't work out if it should have been toasted or not as the bread was dry but not browned. Attention to details regarding building maintenance and cleaning in some areas would elevate this premises a great deal. Eg. An empty bottle on a shelf on the corridor which was not moved while we stayed there. Windows roughly painted over covering the brass and essentially sealing it shut and brass work and glass not cleaned and tape holding the radiator cover together all those were in the restaurant. As I say niggles but frustrating as the building is generally beautiful. All this said I would choose this hotel when staying in Birmingham in the future.

The breakfast was exceptional. We stayed for two nights; we went to breakfast at 7.30am and then 8.30am on the different days. Always well stocked with a huge selection of fresh fruit, pastries, yoghurt and cereals. The cooked breakfast was fantastic, i had poached with full English. I travelled with my child who absolutely loved the breakfast. A gift and card were in the room on arrival for my childs birthday. The room was spotless and huge - the bed was dreamy! The staff are really fabulous- in particular Kim in the resturant and Sonia at breakfast. They are absolute assets to the hotel. My child even commented on how kind and friendly they were. The location is perfect to explore- opposite the main train station and walking distance to all local attractions. My child loved the grand feel of the hotel, it is a lovely place. We had a brilliant stay and we will definately stay again when visiting Birmingham.

In all honesty, I was apprehensive after I read some reviews. My child and I have stayed in many hotels, air bnbs etc. This hotel is one of the best we've stayed at. Obviously reviews are subjective and personal, but I cannot find fault with the hotel at all.

Our room was lovely and big. The beds were comfortable with great pillows. There were drink making facilities and a hairdryer in the room.. We also had two chairs to sit in, which is a rare treat! There was also a fridge! The staff were great! I use a CPAP and the staff were able to supple an extension lead as there was no plug by the bed head. The bar was reasonably priced and very comfortable. The breakfast room was roomy and well appointed. The breakfast itself was ok, if not warm enough. It would have been nice to be offered a coffee refill. The waitress dropped a piece of toast, which was not replaced. Lots of choice though and we enjoyed it. The Hotel itself was lovely and has original features. Lots of marble and the hall carpets looked good. The lift worked and the room over the arcade was nice and quiet. The other room facing the station was not! The radiators in the rooms were adjustable. All in all, us four sisters enjoyed our stay a lot. The location was spot-on for rail travel and the staff were a credit to the Hotel. We were surprised not to see a tip box and the receptionist said they did not have a hidden one we could donate to. We would return!

A grab rail to come out on the bath when using the shower would have been helpful. A plug socket by the hed board would have been useful, but an extension lead was supplied. Breakfast could have been warmer and extra coffee would have been nice.

Great central location, historical building, which has sadly had some of the great charming features ripped out and replaced with mediocre replacements. Lobby is very underwhelming, but staff were friendly and very attentive!

Definitely lacks the pizazz that you would expect from a 4 star hotel. Light fixtures all need a really good clean there's only 1 lift to serve the building, which is small, cramped and usually on one of the upper floors. Lacks the attention to detail, like cleaning air vents, dusty chandeliers, and just a general tiredness to the overall appearance! Pillows were far too soft, there were no plug sockets by the bed, and you needed to literally get out of bed to change the channel on the TV, as it was so far away.

Beautiful building and furnishings. Great service. Standalone A/C and fan added to the room for the summer , rare for an old building. Atmosphere overall is phenomenal.

Not particularly impressed with the cooked breakfast, certainly not worth getting the more expensive options like avocado toast. Best to go out and eat elsewhere or eat from the continental selection. Some of the older features in the building need some tlc, understandable that they take damage over time but chips in the sink look awful.
