As ever Matt provides an exceptionally good valued hotel that has many individualistic features... If you are looking for bog standard, this is not for you, but looking for a pleasant stay in a really nice room that has obviously had thought and care put in, then this IS the place! Well done Matt and the team

A lift would have enhanced my access to the second floor with a VERY heavy case.....

We spoke to Matt on the day we were checking in and he couldn't have been any more accommodating, helping us with our bags and keys. We loved the shower, the force of water and temperature was locked and perfect. Towels were very large. Room very clean. Good temperature, all windows open as we had great weather. We loved the pool table in the breakfast area which we enjoyed a few games of pool, before getting the bus to the Isle of Wight festival. There was a very friendly lady in the breakfast area cleaning when we arrived, she dashed up to matt to get us a change of some pounds for the pool table. Again, same as Matt, nothing was too much trouble. Very kind and welcoming. The location of the hotel to the high Street, bus stop, pier and beach, was perfect.

There was nothing we didn't like. It's not a 5 star hotel and some people may say areas need a little refurb, but that's not what we look for in a stay. We want comfort, location, clean hotel/Rooms and friendly welcoming staff, so it was 10/10 for us. The only thing we wished is that we could have had breakfast, but we had to leave before 8 to get to the bus and ferry home. Breakfast starts at 8.

I think for the price it was good but needs freshening up & curtains not too good as they were hanging of the rail, maybe blinds would be a good idea. I have to say the manager was exceptionally good very well mannered & nothing was too much trouble all in all a very nice young man.

As I said in previous comments the staff were very friendly & the place was adequate for our needs that night. It needs some upgrading as in needs the decor brightening up & maybe blinds at the windows. The room was clean but no toiletries as stated in the advert. I am not saying I didn't like the room just feel it would be a really lovely hotel with a bit of TLC would sort out. Still had a good time though lovely people.

They are in the middle of doing it up and parts of the hotel were very cold . Once it's finished it will be lovely. Breakfast was really good

Good location, nice sized room ( family room) good bar area with room for kids to play( stage area) whilst we had a pint. Breakfast was lovely nice n freshly cooked. Staff very good and nice.

I have had an amazing time. I was initially planning to stay for a few days but this exte ded to weeks. Mat has been amazing. He was willing to address any issues and always showed the same level of exceptional service. The best hotel in the Island. If you are planning to come to the Island, come to Mat Bay hotel and if will be a crucial part of your experience.

Closeness to beach, cleanness, friendly staff, nice choice breakfast. On arrival, room wasn't ready and I was offered a courtesy drink from the bar while waiting.

No curtains on windows; room view not great.

Staff very friendly and helpful, bright room. Parking is a real plus. Cleaned as much as is possible (for a really old property). There was entertainment provided. We enjoy staying here as it's in a great location and they do breakfasts as well.

Our glass window heated the room a bit too much and unless you close the curtains there was no privacy. The bottim glass could do with frosting then that would cut the heat but also provide a bit of privacy as there was no net curtain or tuile. Yes, it is an old and tired building so it could do with a bit of updating but obviously that would be costly. The bed was unfortunately a little tired as the some of the springs had sprung and by the 2nd night it was a bit uncomfortable, so they could do with new beds.
