Fabulous comfortable rooms

Nippy female in the bar controls the whole place. Dreadful attitude doesn’t turn round to talk to you. Had 4 stays there recently and she is always there. We were told there was no cream for cocktails , which don’t expect in 5 star hotel. Very hostile , so much so we chose to sit in the lounge and have drinks in there . We ordered a drink and were told it would be 20 minutes costing 28 pounds . We waited 35 minutes. Oxana I think her name is from Latvia . People in lounge were asking me to ask the bar staff to attend to them . It’s a shame as we love the hotel and staff apart from the bar area, would not go in the bar if she is there.

Staff were friendly and helpful. This was an historic building that had been well upgraded where necessary. The stair woodwork, stained glass, doors etc were all original. The bathroom was large and well set up. During our stay there was a problem with access to hot water and with a toilet being reluctant to flush. Both were dealt with quickly and well. The breakfast buffet was good, and reasonably priced.

The room we were in got very hot one day when it was quite sunny outside. It would have been nice to have more windows that opened, and opened wider A decent fan was provided, but access to outside air was limited..

We had a great stay -- the hotel is rather unique in that it's actually several townhouses that are connected and then redone as rooms. Our room was delightfully decorated fitting of the boutique hotel status, with a huge bathroom and large, comfortable bed. The hotel staff were communicative and helpful, both before our stay, messaging over booking.com, at reception, and while there. We were celebrating a special occasion, and had a nice surprise welcoming us in the room, which we appreciated. We also ordered room service from the restaurant (always a nice treat at hotels that offer it) and this hit the spot -- there was good variety, the food was high quality, and the ambiance and experience quickly made us feel at home. Lastly, it was our first time in Glasgow and as travelers without a car, we weren't quite sure where to stay. This spot worked out quite well -- the area is nice, and the university area (around Byres road), with more shops and cafes and such, is just a 10 minute walk, or a shorter bus ride. The bus stop is also right outside and very convenient, and that or the train provide quick transit access through the city. Overall, this worked out very well for us -- we had comfortable accommodations, tasty food, and great service. Would recommend to others.

Staff were so friendly and helpful! 😊 Bed and bath were great, my favourite! 😍 Amazing building, i absolutely love these kinds of buildings, so big, impressive, historic! So many doors, halls, and staircases to explore. It was almost a pleasure not finding my room half of the time, lol 😃 I think this is the most warm and welcoming hotel staff I've ever encountered, and thank you! 🥰💙

Only wee things were the room was a little too hot for me, even when the lovely staff turned it off for me, and couldn't keep windows open a bit during the night because of the road traffic noise outside, but thats more my personal temperature thing i think, and i really need quite to sleep! There's renervations going on, which is why it was higgldy piggldy to find your way around the hotel too. But again, the staff were happy to help as much as they could! 😊

Beautiful architecture allows for spacious rooms and large beds. Hotel is in a great location for accessing West End. Easily walkable but car parking available in area. Worth noting parking is free in other side of Great Western Road. A warm welcome and beautiful reception rooms.

The room is very spacious but felt layout could be better designed. Lighting is either dim or very bright. Windows are huge and look onto street but are dressed with blinds and curtains. Windows would benefit from sheer fabrics to allow natural light but offer some privacy. En suite bathroom has no door( a slider would be great) and the toilet area is behind a glass wall which looks like a shower but offers no acoustic protection! This was a very strange design. Bathroom privacy is a must! Furniture looks good but is missing surface space to allow for dressing area, space for tea making, and hair drying close to mirror and electrical sockets. The room missed the finesse of being a great hotel due to lack of practical finishing touches.

what a magnificent hotel. every room is different. all have so much character. this old building feels a bit like hogwarts. I am sure some of the stairs moved, and some of the pictures talked. we spend hours roaming around the hotel looking for hidden gems like the reading room and even the gym (not really a gem but it was fun looking for it). breakfast is a bit pricey for what you get but the room and the buffet are beautiful. staff is amazing, funny, smart, nice and professional. I would definitely come back. hopefully soon.

most basic things are at least 8-10 min walking distance. breakfast is pricey.

Good service from the staff, upgraded room at my expense albeit a nice room. Quiet room was provided when asked which was great.

Noise coming from toilet was not fixed when notified. Restaurant does not take anyone past 9pm which for me is very early considering I am a guest. Would not seat me even though I was there at 8.50pm. Was a mystery payment on my bill that had to be questioned even though I paid everything in advance, very surprising.

The place is very beautiful and classic. If you are into these kinds of hotel themes, I definitely recommend it. Also, the staff were very helpful, polite, and professional, and I look for it in every hotel I travel to. The breakfast was nice too and delicious. My rooms were clean & tide. The services were great and fast, I asked for a room with a view & they provided quickly, this alone is enough for me to come back again to this hotel if I travelled in the future. Highly recommended 👌

The hotel lacks elevators ( lifts ). I hope they add it in the future. Another, it is a little far away from the central city location. You have to go by a ride about 8 to 12 minutes to get there.

Overall, staying at the hotel was a pleasant experience. Our room was spacious and well appointed. The building is beautiful and elegant. The Westend area of Glasgow is wonderful, full of unique shops, restaurants and sights. The front of house staff were readily available, friendly and extremely helpful. Our meal at the restaurant was good. Continental breakfast was overpriced at GPB 20 per person offering a limited selection of items. We would stay again.

Room servicing could be improved. Towels placed in the bathtub to be exchanged were simply hung up again to dry. Tea in the room was not replenished after the first night. Small debris on the floor on arrival, but nothing dramatic.

The standard and decor of this hotel was excellent. The finishing touches were beautiful like the tea lights in the mantle piece above the fire. Our room was amazing. There was loads of storage space and a plug near the dressing table mirror. Little touches like mugs for tea in the room with a welcome biscuit. The bed was so comfortable and I had the best sleep I had in ages. The bathroom was lovely and the bath was huge with loads of hot water with great water pressure. The toiletries were very luxurious. Staff were really friendly and efficient.
