The hotel was very well maintained, staff were very friendly, food was good and I was extremely surprised by how reasonably priced the food and drinks were, particularly being in a hotel and near to an airport, 3 course all you can eat evening buffet for only £14.50, absolutely brilliant, and the bar prices were really reasonable too. The beds & pillows were very comfortable, and the temperature inside was perfect, considering it was around 2° outside. I'm not sure if the date I stayed mid-March is considered out of season, but I would happily pay to stay there again, and not necessarily just to catch a flight, but even for a weekend break. It would be a lovely place to stay in the summer. I have to read reviews were people seem to forget they havent paid for a 5* hotel but expect to find 5* accommodation when they get there, I think as long as people remember that you get what you pay for, I have to say this place was fantastic value for money and exceeded my expectations. Well done.

There was a big group of foreign students (older teenagers) in the hotel, and as you can imagine, they didn't have much consideration for other guest and was making noise out in the corridor, but I just open my door and shouted at them to "shut the hell up", (and I was a solo female) and it worked, didn't hear a sound from them after that. My only suggestion would be for the reservation manager to consider where guest are located if they know they also have a booking for travelling students. It seemed to me the hotel was big enough to potentially allocate a whole floor or section of the hotel to the students, but they did seem to be scattered about.

Very spacious with plenty of sitting rooms. Nice bar area where you could get meals when the restaurant wasn’t available. Our room was a good size with hanging space, desk, plenty of drawers & a fan. Excellent amount of double plug sockets , two of which had double USBC sockets. Good quality bed linen & towels. Tea and coffee provided in room. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Outside was a little tired looking . Don’t expect a nice garden or pretty outside seating area as appears to be used as long stay airport car parking .

We liked the ease of check-in, spacious room, comfy beds, clean bathroom, variety of breakfast products (+hot Plates), the different seating areas around the building, view of airplanes landing, lots of parking at no extra cost. The staff were so friendly and professional, even when faced with some other very rude guests. We liked that there are a variety of games for guests to play in one of the reception rooms, books in another room for a quiet read. The young ladies in the restaurant and on reception deserve a star for their professionalism when faced with guests who were not understanding of a severe power failure following an extreme thunder/lightening storm during the night, which left the hotel and whole of Gatwick, including the airport, and Horsham areas with absolutely NO power what so ever. We liked the comfy chairs placed around the reception area and the vintage feel of the hotel communal areas, much nicer and homelier than modern minimalistic hotels. The bar food was huge portions and absolutely delicious. Brilliant value for money, we didn't use the carver, so can't comment on that. I would say Russ Hill Hotel was what we expected when we made our booking and was excellent value for money. However, anyone who wants a super modern hotel with no character and charm what so ever when you first walk in, book somewhere else rather than complaining about the traditional English style that you get at Russ Hill. Behind your personal door the hotel rooms are very much the same as a modern hotel. The windows had good double glazing with the choice to open or not, great if you want to shut out the sound of the airplanes or thunder and lightening, but super if you want to open them and experience these things. A must point to make is that there are no airplanes flying or landing at night so no disturbances after midnight or until about 5:30am.

More subdued lighting in the bar during the evening when having a night cap. Some emergency lighting in the corridors during a power cut. As the hotel is 'Olde Worlde' it was pitch black in the corridors with no windows on the morning of the power cut.

Very small twin room. Comfortable enough for 1 night stay but wouldn't like to spend longer. Friendly reception staff. Nice quiet countryside setting despite being close to major airport.

First floor room and no lift. Very full car park as they offer airport parking. Probably was once a grand country house but slightly scruffy in places could do with a bit of a face-lift. Clean enough though.

Such good value for money! Many Gatwick hotels with parking charge double plus what we paid for one night and car left for two and a half weeks. Basic room but very clean, a good en-suite, a very good breakfast for £12 pp, a bar. For an overnight before flying it’s ideal, no frills but not needed! We will use them every time in the future.

Food was available in the bar but only until 9 15, bit too early we thought especially for people arriving a little later.

Very nice looking hotel. Nice and cozy. They have a pub/restaurant where you can sit and have a drink, a meal, they also serve breakfast. Great value for the money. I got the cheapest room available and it’s really good, nice comfortable bed, everything was clean, good shower, nice tv to watch. Just great. Would go back for sure.

The food options (dinner and breakfast) were excellent value as was the room price. Its location was pretty quiet and was only a 10 to 15 minute drive to Gatwick airport. The staff encountered were friendly and cheerful.

One of the twin beds was a little bit squeaky, and the curtains did not have all the hooks connected. Nothing that bad that a few minutes maintenance could not fix.

Lovely hotel in great location, 20 minutes from Gatwick. Contrary to description, there IS a carvery restaurant and the bar serves good also. Very reasonably priced, good choice and quality, and served very quickly. Quiet room, spacious and comfortable. Great value for money overall. Would recommend.

The Sri Lankan staff on reception were unbelievably friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help me. The Romanian bar tender was also extremely professional and knowledgeable. It makes such a difference to have such positive staff.

My room only had a skylight. No window. Was a bit claustrophobic. An in room hairdryer would have been nice.
