This hotel is really lovely - decor and styling are beautiful and it is incredibly clean. We stayed as a group of 4 across 2 lodges which are incredibly spacious and well laid out. The spa facilities are some of the best we have experienced. The ladies who work the Spa reception are just fabulous. We each had a back next and shoulders massage and thoroughly enjoyed our treatments.

Very small issues but worth noting - lighting in the restaurant is very poor, I can understand the aesthetic purpose of the moody lighting but it really isn’t the most practical when eating - particularly in the booths. Also the area to make toast has close to zero lighting. Requesting items at breakfast, butter, milk, fresh cooked eggs, was a bit of a let down as we often had to request multiple times or just do without. Also the lodges are not replenished with fresh towels, milk, tea, sugar, water etc after the initial arrival items which was disappointing but the bar staff gave us some items to take back to the rooms with us at night.

Arrived with 7 of my friends 5 out of 8 of us turn 40 this year so really wanted to have a lovely chilled experience on arrival staff were lovely and friendly on our way down to find the leisure facilities we got lost we asked the lady at desk who said down there and turn left again we got confused and headed towards the room area as this is where we thought we were to go just at this point a member of staff who was also on reception shouted to us from across the bottom corridor that we were going the wrong way I said well could you show us please that's twice we have got mixed up she proceeded to point it out to us and her tone of voice came across really rude towards myself and I couldn't believe I had just been spoken to in that manner eventually found the leisure facilities could not fault the staff within that area at all however we had only been in the jacuzzi for 20 mins and was told it was closing due to the chlorine levels which is fine we understood it didn't open again for thr remainder of our time in the leisure facilities so made our way to our room to get sorted for dinner restaurant staff were fantastic the boy and girl who worked in there on Saturday the 7th June could not fault them at all we did wait an hour and a half to get our main meal however it made up for it when it arrived it was beautiful and the friendly staff made the experience great.. breakfast this morning was again absolutely amazing staff all amazing very attentive I didn't catch the Young girls name who dealt with us this morning she had red hair and glasses but she was fantastic right on the ball with everything and nothing was a problem she certainly has a lot of patience and always had a smile thank you when we were checking out it was the same receptionist that had dealt with us and was rude to us but on departure she was lovely so I'm putting it down to maybe a bad day I'm not sure but I certainly have never been spoken to like that anywhere I have went

Bar & restaurant lovely atmosphere. Wide choice of food & drinks to suit on menu. Breakfast great & all butcher quality. Staff are friendly. Lodge had everything we needed & more, very comfortable. Indoor spa and pool spotless & gym has great range of training equipment. Train station nearby. Close to Glasgow for shopping.

Couldn't use hot tub on 2nd day as was torrential rain, would've been nice if it'd been covered under a roof. Noise of aeroplanes woke us early in morning. You can't drive to outside your lodge, car stays in car park & you need to carry your baggage.

Everything was perfect. We're getting married at the Bowfield in August and this was an insight for us before the real deal! Honestly, it made us so excited for the big day and the lodges were so comfy and private. The food in the Bowfield is exceptional. Staff gave us recommendations and they were spot on. Megan on reception is an absolute gem, such a lovely lady and we were made to feel special and welcome by all staff. Thank you so much for making Podi's birthday weekend fabulous. Ben Macdui Lodge was a little slice of heaven. We can't wait for August! Xx

The fact we had to leave!

I would totally recommend the lodge. It was a great place to stay with the hot tub, lots of space, very clean, some included snacks, decent smart tv, good view out over the fields and hills. Restaurant was good as well. We had a massage as well which was great. We stayed a Sun & Mon night relatively last minute which may explain it but the price seemed very reasonable for what we got.

It’s not that I didn’t like it but the breakfast was average - not at the same high standard of everything else.

Room was great, staff couldn’t have done more to help, very welcoming and polite people, facilities were great, everywhere was clean and tidy, breakfast was fabulous.

One issue we had was it being noisy at night with guests slamming doors and making noise in the hallway but that isn’t the fault of the hotel in anyway. Another issue was the tv, No apps would work and even the standard channels would buffer and the remote barely worked, certain buttons wouldn’t work and even the ones that did there was a significant delay.

Very comfortable and clean. The staff were excellent and very helpful. The facilities were very good. The food in the restaurant was very good.

The room did not have any tissues or water. It was only cleaned every two days which meant that we ran out of milk and biscuits. We did not mind that the room was not cleaned every day but at least the supplies could have been topped up. For the first day we had a cooked breakfast from the menu and it was very good. However for the next three days of our stay it was a fairly average buffet. Or you did not want hot food there was little choice. There could at least have had a selection of cold meat and cheese.

There were so many activities for every family member that we did not have time to experience them all. The play area for kids and the pool was great for our grandchildren and their parents loved their own personal hot tub.

We did not have enough toilet paper! It was not replaced when it ran out. The lodge was a little musty and dusty. The kids started sneezing and coughing as soon as the sofa-bed was pulled out.

Everything was lovely. Staff were excellent.

The price we paid to go into the spa facilities. £20 each person was a little high, especially after paying for our own treatments. Our meal had to go back and I really, really didn’t like to complain or ever send anything back to a kitchen. It got rectified straight away and Michael was very helpful afterwards. The shower was leaking and our garden lights didn’t work. So nothing too drastic. Just little things.

Great family break. Lodges were lovely and had everything needed. Facilities were great for children. Only 1 receptionist on so had waits to check in/out as wedding parties were needing help with setting up. Would have been ideal for them to have two on the desk or a dedicated wedding host. Food in the cafe was nice but main restaurant was a bit of a disappointment for evening meal. Overall it was a great stay and would definitely book again to return.
