Location was fantastic- room was lovely with a wonderful view of the castle- the room was spotless and excellently cleaned. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfasts were good.

The bathroom of our room (No 9) was very small and disappointing. There were no grab rails at the shower which was extremely dangerous for elderly people like us using the shower. Also, there was no hand held shower for washing hair. No slippers or bathrobes were provided which was also disappointing. One would have expected all the above from a Hotel charging almost £500 per night!

Lovely hotel and perfect location for us

We had paid extra and booked a room with river view unaware of work being carried out. Scaffolding obscured our view and we were very disappointed.

A Perfect 10th Anniversary Stay — Unforgettable Views and Warm Hospitality My wife and I stayed at the Palace Hotel Inverness to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, and it truly exceeded our expectations. The highlight of our room was the breathtaking view of the River Ness and Inverness Castle — waking up to that scene each morning felt like something out of a postcard. The hotel itself has a timeless charm, with a perfect balance of classic elegance and modern comfort. Our room was spotless, cozy, and well-appointed, with thoughtful touches that made our anniversary feel even more special. Staff were friendly, professional, and genuinely welcoming — from check-in to check-out, we felt well taken care of. The location is ideal: right on the riverbank, just a short walk to the city centre, shops, and restaurants. If you’re planning a romantic getaway in the Highlands, I can’t recommend the Palace Hotel enough. It gave us the perfect setting to celebrate a special milestone — and memories we’ll carry with us for years to come.

Parking is a bit limited directly at the hotel, but not to worry — they’ve thoughtfully arranged reserved parking nearby, close to the beautiful St Andrews church. It’s only a short, picturesque stroll back to the hotel, and the surrounding scenery makes it feel more like part of the experience than an inconvenience. In fact, walking along the river with views of the castle adds a charming touch to your arrival or return — a perfect way to enhance your stay.

I booked this hotel because my original booking fell through last minute. After travelling 8 hours to Inverness, the other hotel told me they could not locate my reservation and turfed me out into the street. So, at 7pm at night, and in something of a panic, I had to find another hotel last minute. Fortunately, the Palace Hotel & Spa had a room available at a good price. The ladies on the reception desk were very kind to me, as I was in some distress by that time. The Spa hotel is beautiful and I wished I had just booked that to start with. I absolutely would book there again. The location is great. The room was clean and lovely, and the facilities were excellent. Very comfortable and quiet. I slept well and peacefully after the earlier upset. (I left before breakfast, so cannot comment on that).

Nothing, all excellent :)

The swimming pool was excellent, as was the view of the river Ness and the castle from our second floor room.

It sounds petty, but the toilet paper roll holder in the bathroom was awful and kept falling over. The room was too warm and a bit stuffy. As in all hotels, the bedding was impossibly warm! Also, I contacted the hotel by email to make sure we got a twin-bedded room rather than a double - having booked through booking.com - but only got a canned reply, twice. Eventually I phoned and reception had no idea that we had booked a twin and put it down to booking.com. We often have this problem with hotels.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The facility at fitness centre which has swimming pool, jaccuzzi, steam room, sauna and gym room. Towels are provided but needs a pound coin for the locker. Good breakfast selection which is full English and I like the soft scrambled eggs which is not dry. One has to order for a hot toast perhaps a cost saving policy. Restaurant food is also good. I enjoyed the ample portion of battered haddock and chips. The room is very clean with all amenities being provided including electric kettle, tea bags and coffee. Although no aircon an electric standing fan was provided which was a blessing during hot summer period. The hotel is located in a slightly quiet area and yet within 5 minutes walk to the city centre which has plenty of restaurants and souvenirs shops. Also there is a nearby supermarket and takeaways around the corner.

Parking spaces is limited and I was lucky to have one which is free.

Beautiful scenic view from hotel room, we were given an upgrade to river view as per my prior request which was great. We were unable to park in hotel space but a very kind lady informed us of the overflow and assisted with this. Very happy working staff. Enjoyed some mocktails and supper before going to Eden Court for a performance. We have stayed before and will stay again. Great breakfast selection hot and cold. Wonderful morning staff too.

Smallest marks on bedding and toilet door and the scaffolding outside but these are very minor and sometimes unavoidable. They did not affect our stay though.

Room was spacious and bed was so comfortable! Loved the beautiful location to our coach drop-off point (near the Cathedral) Breakfast: Excellent spread, tasty too!

We had dinner in the restaurant twice (felt that cost of the meals were a tad too expensive for the hotel's standards). Smallest lift on the planet must be the one this hotel had from the lobby to the rooms: only 1 person and 1 piece of luggage could fit in. We (hubby and I) had to make 2 rounds! I would like to suggest that a ramp be fitted at the front entrance to your hotel so that 1st time guests can use it to drag their heavy luggage up.

The whole hotel, and especially the bedrooms are beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. The bed in particular was very comfortable and we got a great sleep. The pool in the Spa is long enough to feel you are having a good swim, and not just a plunge pool like other hotels. The staff were very helpful and willing to help out to make your stay the best possible. The food was also excellent, and I particularly recommend the macaroni cheese which is the best I've tasted in years. Its not more than a 5 minute walk to the centre of Inverness, and therefore extremely well placed with loads of restaurants if you want to eat out.

The car park only holds about 20 cars maximum., which is very small for this size of hotel. This car park is also used by locals who use the spa, therefore it was impossible to get parked there early evening, and I had to park some distance away. In fairness, the streets nearby have free parking between 5pm in the evening and 10am next day (you can park in what's marked as permit holders only during this time) but if there is an event at the nearby theatre, even those spaces are filled up.

This hotel is in a great location and a short walk across the bridge to the centre of town. You can also take a lovely stroll along the river. We would have had a lovely view of Inverness castle but the castle and the hotel are both undergoing renovations unfortunately. The hotel is in a lovely building and they are clearly putting effort in to maintain and improve it. Our room was huge, we had a massive comfortable bed and loads of space. There was plenty of lighting, mirrors and sockets. We had some water, tea, nespresso coffee and even some shortbread biscuits left in the room. We had a great sleep and even though there is a street right outside we did not hear any noise. The shower in the bathroom was really powerful and the towels were good quality. The leisure facilities are lovely. The changing rooms were immaculate. The pool and jacuzzi were spacious. The gym looked very well equipped we just didn’t have time to make use of it as we only stayed for one night. There is free parking but it is limited - we luckily got the last space when we were checking in. Staff were really friendly and helpful as well - check in was very smooth.

The windows are quite old so there is a build up of mould on some of the paint. The room was roasting and we could not completely turn off the radiator so we had to open the window to cool it down. The tv remote was quite dusty. The towel heater in the bathroom is very close to the toilet and very hot so we almost burned ourselves a few times. The lift is tiny and only fit one person with a suitcase. Something to be aware of if accessibility is a requirement for you.
