The accommodation is in an excellent, central location, around 12 minutes to Waterloo station and under 5 minutes from Lambeth North tube station, as well as being 15 minutes walk from the Thames and never more than 12 minutes to a Gail's Bakery - an essential! The apartment was very clean, had lovely big windows, and a good kitchenette with microwave, fridge, hob, and nespresso machine. The windows open and there is air conditioning, so you have choices for cooling down on a hot day. Staff were always very courteous and helpful, and I appreciated that the lifts and stairs were 'locked' during the day, so you needed a key card to access. Good to have the extras like iron and ironing board, and hairdryer too. Do note, the hotel is very close to the train and you do hear the rumbles in the room as I think the tube line goes directly underneath, this isn't a complaint, but just letting others know (I've survived big earthquakes and I always like to know this in advance to be prepared and not panic when I hear loud rumbling approaching! It stops overnight, thankfully). An excellent option that is close to transport links and the sights of central London, without being miles away or in an area that feels unsafe.

I have no complaints, but to help other guests: the room has few supplies bar dishwasher tablets and tea/UHT milk (no dishwashing liquid for handwash items). There is a small supermarket directly beside the hotel though, so you can easily get supplies. Finally, the bathroom fan is loud and constant - it never turns down or off. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

Excellent central location, room was great and staff were very accommodating.

Appears my wife's black purse was stolen from the room and debit card used to purchase goods worth approx. $2,600 (1,300 pounds). She had left her handbag in the room when we were out for the day. Only discovered when we got back to Sydney and bank statement confirmed 41 fraudulent transactions occurred on 18th and 19th June, 2025. The card used was a spare card in case our main card went missing.

The property was very central, so good to go to many places by foot. Busses and underground very close too. For a family it was very useful to have a small kitchen to prepare coffee and toast.

What was very strange, that we were madr to wait for a check in, as the computers would start at a certain time. When 5 of staff were standing and chatting. The wait was not long. But it was strange that at least 5 families were waiting for the screens to start checking us in. The sofa bed was very uncomfortable. The matress was very thin and we had backaches for the rest of the trip. The cleaning is every second day. So in 4 nights we had 1 clean. Which was not done well. Some things were cleaned while other were not touched. A minimum inconvenience as it was our mess, but still very strange.

It’s convenient and metro is just a block away

One very early morning the fire alarm went off twice but there was no announcement for people not to worry. It scare us a lot thinking there was fire. However, when climbed down the stairs from the 5th floor we were told someone was smoking at 6am. But then after a day ai asked the staff and was told a very old woman was cooking. It would have been nice if they announced it over the PA system right away as not to panic us.

The location is great - close to everything, walking to the bridge, London Eye, the Big Ben, South Bank and other attractions. There’s a subway station next block. The room was relatively small for two people but had various useful items: a full size table, a kitchenette, and a sofa that opened into a full size bed. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I will stay again without hesitation.

The breakfast was not included although a good variety for just GBP 15 extra. An alarm went on one of the nights. There was some noise from people rolling the suitcases and passing by the room. There was no gym. The room cleaning was every other day. Overall, I think it was a good value, particularly considering the location.

the location was very good, spacious, the staff helpful, we enjoyed staying here. I would have give the grade 10, but the cleaning was not a 10, it was a 9, so this is the only reason. orher than that, we had a great stay!!!!

the cleaning was not ok. we found hair on the sheets and in the towels. they change the towels every other day. i understand that this is the hotel policy, but it is a 4 star hotel so this was not very cool

Location was fabulous. On the South Bank, quiet, just far enough away from the madding crowd in Westminister/Victoria. Easy public transport into city centre. Supermarket next door. Cafes, pubs minutes walk away. Ten minute walk to south bank bars, restaurants, markets, and London Eye. Will definitely book again.

There six nights in deluxe studio. Happy to comply with environmently friendly multiple use of towels, but with two guests in room. it would be useful if bathroom had more than one towel rack and one hook. Towels needed to be hung on chairs or in wardrobe. No biggy, just a useful hint.

The property is comfortable and clean situated in an eclectic neighborhood served by two Tube stops in close proximity. It's 3/10 mile from St. Thomas' Hospital, London's largest. Paul, the manager, is in the lobby continuously, warming welcoming guests and addressing any question or issue they have, and all hotel staff was friendly and helpful.

The rate is a bit high, even for London in high season. The property also advertises that its rate is lower online than on book consolidators', which isn't true. The rate difference between the hotel and Booking.com was more than 100 pounds a night.

The beds were extremely comfortable. The room was nice and spacious. The staff were fantastic. There was a tube station directly across the street. The proximity to the London Eye and Waterloo train station was good. There were a couple of handy shops next door. The elevators were nice and fast. The hotel provides a safe place to store luggage.

The shower was awkward to work, if you did not get the knobs in just the right spot it leaked. The right spot was not the spot that was marked on the knob, so it took a lot of finessing. The first room we had, the water trap in the shower wasn't emptied and the room smelled like a sewer until maintenance came to fix it. There were no instructions that you had to insert your room key in a slot by the door to make everything in the room work. The duvet was too small for the bed. When two people were in the bed - one of them was left with only half a duvet. The hotel was mostly spotless. Our bathroom could have been cleaner.

We had a very good stay, the accomodation at Marlin made us enjoy our trip to London to the fullest. The location enabled us to easily visit the main attractions by foot or by bus/tube. Shops and good coffee downstairs. The view of the Shard from our studio on 5th floor and the ability to listen to music in the bathroom made our kids very happy. The check in/check out was smooth, the receptionists were all very nice and there to help. The elevators were all in service during our stay and there was no fire alarm to distrub us.

There are some points that can be improved, like cleaning in both in the rooms and in the common areas, a toilet brush in the bathroom and the sofa bed which is too soft. These aspects didn't bother us that much for 3 days, especially that we were aware of most of them from the other travellers' reviews. In the email received from the hotel with the checkin information, the bar program was presented, with the cocktails happy hour up to 8:30 pm. But when we arrived one evening after 8:00 pm they said the happy hour is up to 8:00 only. So maybe the information should be verified and updated, not to mislead the guests.
