Good location in Notting Hill, walkable to Underground and bus stops. Walkable to some nice restaurants. Good continental breakfast each morning. "Old school" bathroom but charming and shower works well.

The website features colorful, unique decorating. Our room had none of this. Attic floor room was very small, with ceiling angled and overhanging. We had to walk very carefully and still bumped our heads on the ceiling. Room described as "king" but it was a queen bed by American standards -- very disappointing because we wanted a true king bed. Not a lot of places to store things -- we had to keep packing and unpacking. Wall outlets are not in the best locations.

I would have preferred to be able to select my room. I was told I couldn’t guarantee a particular room or one either a bath despite booking well in advance. I found that a silly rule and it made me feel anxious in the lead up to the stay….which could easily have been avoided. Found the step in my bathroom a bit dangerous and the saloon style doors to bathroom to be annoying! So very nice xxx

The decor is beautiful! There is so much attention to detail. Our bed was sumptuous, super comfy, and very large. The room was exactly as I'd hoped it would be, and the staff were very warm and friendly, and also fulfilled my room request, which I very much appreciated. The roll top bath in the room was gorgeous, and we absolutely loved the bookcase secret area! We had a lovely stay, and my sister was thrilled. Thank you very much!

There were no televisions in any of the rooms, which wasn't really a big deal, but it would have been nice to have the option. The room was on the pricey side, so maybe a few complimentary touches would make the stay that little bit more special.

If I have to look for something to say here, I would say that we would have prefered a very simple boiler in the room, rather than that sophisticated coffee/hot water machine, which was quite a struggle. Maybe also, breakfast standards could be improved , as not up to the quality of the hotel, but already very acceptable as such.

Great stay at The Portabello Hotel for my wife's 40th birthday. Excellent location in the heart of Notting Hill, and just 2 mins walk away from Core restaurant, where we had a lunch reservation. We stayed in a budget double room which was expertly designed, very clean and relatively small, but perfectly fine for our length of stay (1 night). The staff were helpful and we liked the honesty bar too.

Very little that we didn't like. The remote control for the fan in our room was broke on arrival, but the staff fixed this as soon as we reported it.

Beautiful and well done interior design — both for the hotel common spaces as the room. Cozy and colorful. Great attention to detail. The hot coco offered with turn down service was a sweet touch. Lovely staff— kind and attentive. Beds are comfortable — shower was fantastic! Close to Nottinghale Gate Station (Circle, Central and District Lines) and a close walk to many delightful restaurants and shops Nottinghill has to offer. Would definitely stay here again.

Nothing I didn’t like. Only to note the room was cozy and small. Well suited for 1 person, might be tight for 2 in terms of luggage storage and having space to unpack/pack.

Excellent location, cosy, very clean , friendly staff. We had a small room but had all the amenities that make a good stay; comfy bed, good quality linen, coffee machine and plenty of coffee and milk . Our room had Georgian double sash windows overlooking Stanley Gardens with plenty of natural light. Also, it was not to have the ubiquitous oversized television

Charming hotel in a great Notting Hill location

Bathroom was tiny in one of our rooms was tiny - ok in the other. Would have been nice to be forewarned about filming taking place in and around the hotel - surprised we were given room on ground floor at the front given the filming taking place. Only mildly inconvenient but some acknowledgement in advance would have been good.

I love the Notting Hill area and stayed at the hotel many years ago. It has, in the meantime, been refreshed and the rooms are exquisitely done with antiques. The room was sunny and spacious, and gave onto a beautiful big park: so it was extremely quiet. The bed was like a soft cloud. Dimmable lighting. There was a huge bathroom with both a shower and a lovely big bathtub, and cuddly bathrobes in the walk-in closet. It was a bit pricey, but what isn't in London? It was certainly worth every Pound.

Perfect location, excellent staff, gorgeous decor, very good breakfast. It felt very traditional and had a real personal touch.

There is really nothing negative to say. I do wish my room had a bath. But the property is relatively small and so only a small amount of rooms had baths. So it’s not a complaint.
