The rooms were a great size with a decent size locker as well and hanging space. The ensuite bathroom was small but functional. Bedside light and chargers were good A small feature - but very, very appreciated was having water available to self serve downstairs, and the breakfast was reasonably priced and plenty of options - even the more basic continental breakfast with cereals, toast, pastries, yoghurt and fruit and plenty of options for condiments as well as tea, coffee, juice and water

The bunks were pretty uncomfortable, plus they squeaked so we were all tossing and turning and then waking each other up The location wasn’t the most convenient but there were a few good pubs not too far away

I stayed in a 4 bed female only room and it was awesome. Very clean, neat, and spacious. The beds are comfy and the lighting is good. There’s a shower and toilet in the room which makes it more convenient for guests. The location of the hostel is great. It’s close to the Museum of Science and Technology. It’s roughly 20 minutes from both Manchester United stadium and Manchester City Stadium. The hostel has a kitchen as well as a restaurant. The environment around is breathtaking! I’ll definitely be back.

The beds lack privacy as there are no bed curtains. There’s female only rooms should have emergency female products like tampons or sanitary towels.

All of the above; V Friendly, Well-looked after (me and the place!) Great location. Didn't mind the train noise - strangely comforting! Lockers good; Ensuite - hot shower great! Good sized room with nice (female) occupants. Warm. Relaxed atmosphere. Great breakfast! Lovely views. 5 mins walk from AVIVA Studios - the site of the event I was attending. Priced just right (don't go dearer!) Great to have good budget accommodation in the city. No compromise on comfort. Staff always available, called taxi when needed, stored luggage - good recreational spaces, Welcoming decor etc. Would definitely come back and recommend *****

Clearer sign on entrance re how to open the door when locked or how to attract staff. Small detail - someone always around, anyway - Can't think of anything else!

The staff were incredibly easy to talk to (as well as the clientele - there's something about the YHA that brings the best out of people's conversation skills - I don't think I've ever stayed there without bumping into an incredibly interesting - and polite - person), and all of the facilities were top notch - especially for the price! I know some people aren't fans of the idea of sharing a room with strangers, but if you're okay with that idea, you can't stay anywhere better.

The dorm that I spent the night in was a little stuffy, and the only source of ventilation we had at our disposal was a singular fan. That might have been fine for the other guys, but, as the person on the top bunk, I had a pretty sweaty night's sleep.

In a cool and safe area, being on a wharf had a view of the river. Staff were friendly and helpful. Common spaces were very clean and welcoming. Good value for money. Breakfast had good options and was fairly priced.

It was very hot, but it was also summer and there was a very powerful fan provided so they couldn’t do much more to help. Towel rental was £2.50 (not necessarily a dislike but just be aware if you don’t bring your own you will have to pay for it). Mattress was pretty thin so you were sleeping on the frame by the morning but it did the trick.

The beds were comfortable and it’s definitely good value for money. We came as a group of 4 and felt comfortable in the quadruple room. One of our bedsheets had a stain to which the reception staff immediately replaced it after we asked. There’s a water refill station and a spacious communal area. There’s also luggage storage facilities and you can store your luggage after checkout and collect it when you want to. Staff were also helpful and friendly. We had a bathroom in our room which was really handy.

The water pressure for the shower is not very strong and the toilet can take some time to flush. But other than that we were really happy with our stay.

YHA youth hostel, like many others have a really great atmosphere. Very chill, friendly a great place to recuperete after traveling.

The windows in the room dont really open. U can basically only crack them open a few centimetres. Needless to say, when 4 people showered with hot water, in that tiny bathroom and slept in those small rooms u have really very little fresh air left. The room became very hot and stuffy very quickly and the fan in the room helps a little but doesn't really do the job. We should have the ability to open the windows fully.

Clean, tidy, modern, all amenities that you would expect except for...see improvement below. Great location for bars, eateries. Offers a warm up jog to Salford Parkrun. Friendly staff, breakfast offered, good communal area and bar. Cost effective.

Although the room had lockers, they were not electronic locks linked to keycard which meant you needed a padlock. I remembered to bring one for this eventuality but it was too big so still couldn't use. You could however buy a smaller padlock from reception. Bathroom fittings were worn but it was functional and clean. Both minor in the scheme of things.

The kitchen area was great and had everything you could need and storage area. The rooms were spacious and it was nice to only have to share with three other people especially a bathroom and shower. The staff were very nice and accommodating. They have full menus of food, drinks, and dessert to choose from. Lots of area to just hangout if needed but also fairly close to things to do if you plan it out.

It is a little bit of a distance from the train/bus station but there is a bus that will drop you off with only a 5 minute walk to the hostel.

Excellent modern YHA, clean, by the lovely canal, free parking ( remember to register your number plate), easy walk into centre. Lovely staff.

None of this was a problem, just worth noting: Bit noisy at night from trains passing by (right by railway bridge) so ask for a room away from the trains if poss. Not too bad, you get used to it. Like all YHAs, bring your own travel kettle etc if you can't be bothered to go down to the cafe or kitchen in the morning. Bring a towel, otherwise you can rent one for a small additional charge.
