Redcar is the perfect location for exploring North Yorkshire between Durham and York. Our luck with Red Barns Bed & Breakfast was threefold. 1) John and Jackie are the perfect hosts. Friendly, very helpful and both have a British sense of humour. 2. the B&B itself is located in a lovingly restored building steeped in history. Our room was perfect. Tastefully furnished and with a marvellous view of the well-tended garden. We found a meticulously clean bathroom and a comfortable bed. 3. the breakfast more than met our expectations. It was always freshly prepared and simply delicious. Whenever we come back to the area, Red Barns B&B will be our first port of call

I'll start by saying that my partner and I travel a lot, and in recent years, we’ve done a trip across the whole of the UK. With full responsibility and a clear conscience, I can honestly say that this was the BEST place I’ve ever stayed. I’ve rated hotels 10/10 before, but after this visit, the bar has been raised much higher. The place is stunning, very well-kept, clean, and you can tell the owners put a lot of heart into their work. I’d also like to add that the owners are incredibly polite, and nice, and as a guest, I felt genuinely welcomed and well taken care of. The breakfasts are delicious and tailored to individual preferences. The room is spacious, so it’s not like other places where you’re constantly tripping over your own feet. The bathroom is wonderful, and the breathtaking view from the window is simply stunning. I’m truly impressed and recommend it to everyone! The bed was very comfortable, the bedding and towels were very clean and fresh-smelling, and all the necessary amenities were provided. I only regret that we stayed for such a short time :) The fact that they have such excellent reviews doesn’t surprise me at all! I’d also like to add that I really (that is my point of view) appreciate how the owner asked if I would like a change of towels instead of just entering the room, as has happened to me in other guesthouses.
Even if I wanted to be very critical and find something to write about here, I simply can't. This place is absolutely perfect in every way!

The room was great it was a large room on the attic up many stairs, would stay here again but on a lower floor as we both have back problems. the couple who ran and owned the B &B were lovely, really welcoming and helpful, , nothing too much trouble, only small issue was the room was very stuffy, a fan would have been good. The cleanliness was exemplary, the beds the most comfortable we've ever had when away, highly recommend this place as a place to use for visiting various places around eg Whitby. Saltburn. There is a great chippie close by and a lovely park, close to amenities in Redcar. We will certainly rebook
Only provision of a fan but this did not spoil our time away

The House was perfect: a completly new renovated very special house full of history, extremly nice and comfortable! Very special charmant interior! Jackie and her husband were very friendly, we felt totally at home. I can highly recommend a stay at this B&B to anyone doing the Eurovelo tour (and anyone else). It was one of the best B&Bs we have stayed in England!
Nothing!!!!

Parking was sorted in advance with plenty of spaces so no issues with accessibility. Owner’s catered for our late check-in time which pushed the rating to a 9. Owners directly messaged me to stay in contact which is a massive USP vs other hotels. Also greeted us at the door and told us a brief history of the building and places to see in the town which was lovely. The bedroom was huge with nice large windows. Very bright room with many lights. Cleanliness was absolutely 10/10, especially the bathroom. Mattress very comfortable and pillows new. All the basics provided too. Silent throughout the night. Want to also plug the heating being turned on - we attended 5 hotels on this trip and only this one had the heating able to be turned on. This is a big factor for us both and deserved a mention.
Honestly experience was a 10/10 and wouldn’t recommend more - will be returning. Only negative if being picky was the TV was very small. Only reason we rated 9/10 because price was about 30% more than the other 4 hotels we stayed at. If price was slightly lower then 10/10.

The building was in immaculate condition and had a very relaxing feel about the whole place. The decor was sympathetically restored and in keeping with William Morris influence. Room 3 was a great room. More than adequate for a solo traveler or a family of three. The bathroom was very spacious, bright and airy. The breakfast wax excellent, piping hot and that personal touch was very evident, along with the attention to detail, delivering on all requests. Top marks. 5 STARS ALL THE WAY
Absolutely nothing in my humble opinion

The building was beautiful and full of history but had also been renovated to an exceptional standard. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The bed was so comfortable and the facilities were of a high standard and very clean. Good WiFi and the little touch of fresh milk in a little fridge on the landing for each room was appreciated. It was good to have access to the living room and garden as well as our room. It was easy to find and a steady walk to the seafront We would definitely stay there again.

Breakfast was carefully prepared according to our selections. It was top quality, well served and most enjoyable. The premises were of historic interest being linked with the Arts and Crafts movement and kept without a blemish. Parking was in a separate private yard off the road. The hosts were knowledgeable, of long experience at the premises and charming. It was the best B&B out of a number on our holiday in the North of England.
Absolutely nothing.

Good to return to Red Barns which was once part of my old school. John and Jackie are excellent hosts and have a deep respect for the history of the building and earlier occupants. It has been restored and converted in a sympathetic style and provided very comfortable accommodation, together with a cooked-to-order breakfast. It is well sited for exploration of the North Yorkshire coast and moors.

Very friendly, welcoming hosts. Exceptionally large, beautifully furnished bedroom with a really comfortable bed. The bathroom was also great with a large shower. The hospitality tray was very well stocked, including biscuits and our hosts provided fresh milk in a fridge on the landing. There was also a lovely resident’s lounge and access to the garden with patio furniture. Unfortunately, we did not have time to use these facilities as we were only staying for one night. The breakfast was very good with cereal, fruit, fruit juice and a great full English with toast, tea or a cafetière of coffee. We could have had anything we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble for Jackie and John. We will definitely stay there again when we are in the area.
Nothing!
