Location, Breakfast, ability to park, 3 chairs in the room, shower was good

The room (upgraded to a courtyard!!! room) had virtually no storage space and little clothes hanging space. The bathroom was far too small and cramped with a glass shelf over the small sink, making teeth cleaning etc. difficult without banging your head. It was far too narrow so you kept banging the glass shower screen with your elbows. The designer needs to find a new profession!! Why a foot could not have been taken out of the room space to make the bathroom wider is a mystery.

Absolutely stunning, picturesque castle and surrounding grounds. Immaculately maintained lawns and beautiful plants/trees. Nice calming effect just sitting outside the main bar with a drink. Friendly, helpful staff. Within walking distance to the main town area and beaches. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and would certainly stay here again.

We stayed in the apartments, rather than the main building. Only downside (from my wife's point of view) was there was no air conditioning in the apartments. Also the door lock (to lock it, not open it) was a bit fiddly. But quite honestly, the overall resort and St Ives itself more than made up for this.

Tregenna Castle in St Ives is exceptional, the staff are outstanding, and Russell on reception is truly the jewel in the crown. From the moment I arrived, he made me feel incredibly welcome, going above and beyond to ensure I was completely satisfied with my stay. His genuine care and attention to detail really made the experience special, and I can’t thank him enough. A special mention also goes to Martin, the bar manager, whose friendly and attentive service added an extra layer of warmth to my stay. With its stunning setting, fantastic staff, and impeccable service, Tregenna Castle offers a truly unforgettable experience. Book with confidence!

There is nothing to dislike.

We have stayed at Tregenna many times, mostly in self-catering accommodation but this was a shorter stay than usual so we booked a hotel room. The hotel is full of character, with wonderful views over the sea - great to have a room with a view - beautiful gardens, plenty of facilities including indoor and outdoor pools, and friendly and helpful staff. There's no need to visit Carbis Bay as you suggest: Porthminster Beach is a beautiful sandy beach at the bottom of the hill from Tregenna.

The bathroom was very plain and functional, could do with a more modern look. A very large desk took up a large amount of space in the bedroom with a very odd cupboard which looked as if it might once have held a minibar. If the desk had been smaller, there would have been room for drawers for your clothes. The bedside cabinets looked as if they had a deep drawer each but actually they had a shallow one. We thought the breakfast wasn't great. We'd rather have paid more and been able to have it cooked to order rather than help yourself to congealing eggs and dried out bacon.

We stayed at Tregenna Castle as part of our family holiday, and overall, it was a great experience. The castle itself is beautiful, with impressive grounds and lovely views over St. Ives Bay. Everything felt clean, tidy, and well-kept, and the smart TV in the room was a nice modern touch that came in handy for winding down after busy days. We really appreciated the peaceful atmosphere around the castle — it felt special to stay somewhere with so much history and character. The staff were friendly, and it was easy to relax in the bar or enjoy a walk around the grounds. In the end, we really enjoyed our time here. It’s a memorable place to stay, especially if you appreciate history, nice views, and a bit of peace and quiet. We'd happily come back for another visit.

There were a couple of small things we didn’t love, but nothing major. The walk down to the beach is quite steep, which was a challenge for us, but thankfully, local taxis are quick, reliable, and reasonably priced, so that helped a lot. The bathroom in our room was small, but it’s understandable given the age of the building — you’re staying in a real castle, after all.

The room was large and well furnished with a king size bed, built in wardrobe and plenty of additional storage space. The bathroom was well equipped with bath/shower and white goods all of a good quality. The view from the room was impressive with clear sight of the harbour, town and of course the sea. The location is excellent with regards to access to the town and beaches with the added bonus of plenty of parking available (which in St Ives can be problematic). The hotel is set in acres of gardens and woodland all of which are very well maintained and a pleasure to walk through.

I honestly can say nothing comes to mind.

The reception staff and housekeeping lady were extremely kind, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The whole facility was very clean, making our stay comfortable.

We had assumed from the listing that we would stay in the castle itself, but our room was located in a separate courtyard building. While this was comfortable in itself, it differed from our expectations of a 'castle' stay experience. The hotel is positioned slightly far from the town centre, with a steep uphill walk, which can be challenging if exploring by foot (it took around 20 mins) When arriving by car, clearer signage or a bit more guidance on where the parking was located would have been helpful, as we were unsure at first.

Great choice of buffet breakfast as always Outdoor pool we had to ourselves which was great it was only probably because it wasn’t very sunny and warm but it didn’t bother us Beautiful location and very clean everywhere Will definitely stay again.

We stayed in a room no sea view this time as when I booked it there wasn’t any superior rooms available It was a little disappointing as the bed in our room wasn’t very comfortable and I didn’t sleep too well so don’t think I’d go for a classic double again…. Although I did have a chance to upgrade unfortunately at the time couldn’t stretch the budget……it wouldn’t stop me staying again though I would just have a room with sea view as these seem to be more comfortable beds.

Completely forgot to write a review about this place! The place was absolutely beautiful! Especially around the castle. So close to the beach too and a short train ride away from CARBIS bay or you could walk it if you want. Staff was extremely friendly and going between 16-21st of December even though it was cold, it was so peaceful and quiet around that time. Loved the pool I could use too for free as a resident and only had to rent a towel for £1, I had it to myself although can be quite scary by yourself with the dim lighting but it was very warm and well kept and clean. I will definitely be back again. It’s also not that expensive for public use too. The staff also provide a map of the place to help navigate through the area as well which is very useful!

The mattresses were quite hard to sleep on so if you have back problems like myself and my partner than you should take that into consideration. Also, I’m a massive walker and hiker (myself and my partner did the circular St Ives to Zennor walk the ENTIRE way) and there are a lot of steep hills around the area including the short cut so brace yourself for that ‘cause even I was struggling a little 😅

Loved the layout of the family room The staff were all friendly and helpful The hotel is absolutely stunning, well maintained and very welcoming. Lovely breakfast, good choices and food kept hot. We stayed in family room number 50, it was superb, we would love to come back and stay in the same room! Loved our stay, thank you.
