We stayed at Octopussy away from the main hotel but the Carbis Bay staff called us regularly to check if we needed anything and made us feel very connected and welcome. Spectacular view over Porthmeor Beach. Well equipped, comfortable and cosy. Quiet (apart from the glorious sound of waves) and secure. Perfect location, giving the beach experience literally beneath you and a short, winding walk into the harbour and all fabulous restaurants, pubs and shops. We loved Ardor restaurant but book ahead. Just a stones throw from the Tate; a truly iconic building housing interesting art and sculptures, including Barbara Hepworth collections and a great cafe on the top which you can got to without seeing the art.

A larger bed and more modern bathroom would have made this perfect. Car parking space underneath was tricky for us to use with a large car but we were able to use the car park at the top of the road.

Location is amazing, right on the beach. The pool was excellent -- great temperature, had a hot tub and sauna all with views of the ocean. The gym was serviceable, and the staff were all very congenial and helpful. Breakfast was very good, and the deli down by the beach was great for getting less expensive food and drinks that we could take up to the pool or the beach. They also have 2 EV chargers that we utilized. It was very quiet as well.

Dinner in the restaurant was pretty average, especially considering the prices. The building is quite stuffy, so if the weather is warmer than average you can expect it to feel much warmer in the room than outside even with the windows wide open. Ceiling fans would really help in this respect.

The staff of this hotel is amazing. We had an issue with our room on check-in. We had booked a junior suite but instead were initially put in a room with only 2 to 4 feet of space around the bed on each side and a small vertical window. Additionally, there was a dirty towel in the sink and signs that the toilet had already been used indicated that someone had already been in the room. Upon presenting the situation to the Staff day they stated our room had been sold out, so they upgraded us to a suite located just below the hotel on the beach, which was actually a step above the room we had booked. The gentleman who made this adjustment was very courteous and accommodating, and obviously was empowered by management to make this type of decision. This is a prime example of turning a mistake into an exceptional experience for the guest. Well done!

The pod was amazing with everything we needed and lots more beside. Lovely to have fresh supplies in the fridge and all locally sourced which we appreciated. Our pod had a great deck and the hot tub and outdoor stove were wonderful for the bright, clear evening we were lucky enough to have when we visited. Inside the pod was super comfy and felt more like we were in a posh apartment rather than 'glamping'. It was a lovely place for a night away. All the staff we spoke with were great.

I wouldn't say we didn't like it but the location might be a bit disappointing for some (we live fairly locally so knew the area where the pods are). If you are expecting lovely beach views and coast to walk along or complete isolation in your pod then this is not for you. The pods are inland by a couple of miles and quite close together on a site in a small rural area. A great base to explore Cornwall from and lovely accommodation to come back to at the end of the day but you need to drive to do anything - there are not cafes, bars etc to walk to from the site.

Luxurious property in a beautiful setting that lives up to the hype. Excellent location right on the beach and a short walk into St Ives town. Very friendly and helpful staff (other than at breakast). Great choice of bars and restaurants. Dinner in the orangery was delicious. Excellent spa facilities.

Breakfast was absolutely awful - really surprising for a hotel of this standard- cheap, poorly cooked food and below par service. Totally different to the experience at dinner time. We found it odd that the room didn't have a mini bar - tbh it probably saved us several ££ but would normally expect that in a 5* property.

I booked a junior suite with sea view which is the type of one-bedroom suite. However, they upgraded for my family to a beach suite with a better space and a hot tube complimentarily. The breakfast is served at my suite. They offered snacks and wines every afternoon. There are a lot of choices for dining. Foods are quite delicious, especially the Ugly Butterflies restaurant. I love the heated swimming pool, sauna and steam room. The view is perfect. The staff is really helpful. The spa treatment is interesting.

All 5-star hotels and resorts we have stayed provides housekeeping services two times per day and staff to help us with luggages. We had to bring luggages by ourselves here. Finally, the hotel does not provide body lotion in bathroom as normal.

We stayed during the first week of easter holidays and managed to catch the hotel before the main rush over Easter and loved every minute of it. We were contacted the day before and upgraded (which helped) however all the rooms and the hotel are amazing. Very comfortable and very safe - we adored the location and almost private beach area was incredible. So picturesque and a lovely stay. The sauna and pool - although small, were beautiful. I imagine it may get crowded during peak season but even during the relatively poor weather we had, the outdoor sauna and pool were fabulous.

Some of the catering staff in one of the restaurants and at breakfast were not quite up to the levels of service we would expect from a hotel of this stature. At this level its reasonable to have expectations of staff and the vast majority of them (reception and spa especially!) were great - however in one of the restaurants and at breakfast we found ourselves (and other tables) having to go out of our way to get any attention! Maybe it was just off peak but its the only negative on what was otherwise an amazing experience and we're bound to come again!

The hotel and estate was exceptional. The staff has been extremly helpful and they manage smoothly the conversation via an WhatsUp group. This has worked brilliantly. On the premises, they are always very happy to help and very polite. The restaurants are great, really nice food and a lot is locally sourced and good quality. The Beach is fenomenal and the hotel shop has nice sand toys. You can rent a sun chair for a small fee. We stayed at an appartment on the property and it was very cosy and very well equipped. We had a lovely welcome array of snack (cake, bread, butter, ham, cheese, smoked salmon, water, juice, milk) and the there is everything you need - washing machine & dishwasher detergent and all the things you might need in the kitchen.

Our apartment was on the estate and up the hill - quite a walk! But nothing we could do as we picked it :) There's excellent taxi services. Next time we will try a beach property or the main hotel with Seaview- too beautiful to miss!

Beautiful location, really special beach and a great place to explore the south west coast path. The spa was lovely.

The main hotel is an old building and the room got very very hot, particularly after a sunny day. Young kids or elderly would really struggle. I’d return but only off season. I got the impression some people were disappointed that the high price did not match the quality of facilities, but we’d read the reviews so knew that going in, it’s not London or New York five star, you’re paying for the amazing location.

The pods were beautiful, a real treat. Finer details made it excellent this included marshmallows for roasting, spa pool, sauna, a beautiful space, and freshly baked goods.

We were not told about the location of the pods when booking. The pods were located 10-15 minute drive away from the resort. We were required to drive to use the facilities at the main resort – this included the pool overlooking the beach, sauna, restaurants and spa. I found the advertising misleading. I was also required to provide a £50 deposit and was told this would show up back in my account after 10 days, however, it took three weeks.
