I am so lucky to have found this English seaside gem. The location was ideal, a very short walk into town and with a beautiful beach a short walking distance away. The room was clean, with a great seaside view, the bathroom in a very good condition, towels and sheets clean and the mattress comfortable. The guests were all very quiet and there was also entertainment twice a week, singer Keri was brilliant and provided a good at atmosphere. Staff were particularly helpful and lovely and very very attentive. When I needed a fresh towel, milk sachets for my tea, staff were quick to provide. I made the best choice and I was glad I ignored the other reviews, which were petty. I felt secure and looked after and am leaving happy and also a bit sad but knowing I will return. For a solo traveller I find it important that these kind of hotels still exist when everything seems to be AirbnB these days.
I can't think of anything.

Loved the room, view is outstanding, location incredible, beds very comfortable, bed linen and towels lovely, having a bath (shallow - but normal hotel bath), shower in bath great, space in room lovely, hot drinks in room.
Carpets on ground floor need a really good clean - or replacing - or even just a protected walkway cut in. There is a lot of really mucky carpet giving a grubby impression - if you look up its all good! Breakfast had a sign next to it saying that genetically modified ingredients were used - the oil I think. I've never come across this before. I'd really hope they would prefer not to use this oil. Didn't stop us eating breakfast but would definitely have preferred breakfast without.

Thank you very much for our stay. Welcome invite, friendly and helpfull staff. upgraded room, new beds, bathroom. Amazing sea view.
Just few points to highlight: when we arrived we have been informed that breakfasr £10 pp and 1/2 prise for child. Been charged £15 pp in the morning +1/2 per child. Gentleman at the desk informing me that prises been changed in the morning. Everyone was friendly and helpfull. Breakfast wasn't impressive. Very happy to have a parking space at the location, but the shed need a good clean. No need big investment, just to remove smelly rubish from the back left corner and a good sweep of the floor.

The staff were extremely helpful & friendly. Big shout oit to Nicki & the Operstional Manager. Both were incredibly helpful and excellent to work with.
Rooms desperately needs upgrading, carpets very worn and looks dirty, although they have been hovered. No flexibility on meals as you need to pre-order, if not pre-orded you cannot buy upon arrival. Also, not much choice for breakfast. Availabity of staff is tough as some are managing reception, serving drinks and meals, this is CRAZY. More staff URGENTLY needed at busy times. Big shout out to all the staff who were all very helpful. Massive overhaul required on the hotel although lounge and dining areas looked good

Characterful and traditional hotel very close to the beach and railway station. The hotel is good value for money ( especially in the off-season like March when they have great discounts). My room had a lovely sea-view , my bed was comfortable, the bathroom was nice.
I don't understand the bad reviews here on booking.com . My room was clean and nice. I do prefer independent individual hotels like this one . This is much better and nicer compared to global hotel-chains ( an Ibis, Premier Inn, travel Lodge might have furniture and decoration which is more modern, but every of the IBIS, Travellodge room looks exactly the same everywhere regardless if you're in a chain-hotel in Cornwall, France , Spain or Germany). Staying in an individual hotel is much nicer.

Extremely affordable; it was exceptional value for the price I paid. The size of the room, the decor & upholstery, the amenities & upgrades were all incredible. I'd like to specially mention the generosity and courteousness of the staff, they were ever so helpful with local recommendations! They allowed me to store my luggage until it was time for my train to depart in the evening, even though I had checked out that morning. Coming from London, I can tell you that this is not common. The arrival/departure lounge next to the reception & the dining areas all have a beautiful view of the Porthminster beach & breakfast add-on is pocket-friendly. I would definitely book again.
The areas around the elevator to the rooms upstairs could be a bit more roomy and better maintained. Just a suggestion!

Rooms were very clean and well presented, family room and one of the single rooms had seaviews, excellent location, family room had a bath and shower, parking included, mostly friendly staff, lots of clean towels
Needs a spruce up very dated, the rooms were too warm but we appreciated being given a fan for the family room. A fridge in the rooms would have made things more comfortable, one of the single rooms had very bad Internet coverage and we weren't able to change rooms despite asking the reception

All the staff were so helpful and Charlie, who hosted breakfast, anticipated my every need,. The breakfast was very good. My room was very comfortable and I had an absolutely amazing, panoramic view of St Ives Bay. The hotel is in an enviable position over the whole St Ives to Carbis bay vista, sitting high on the 'The Terrace' which is the main road into the town and so the views from the breakfast room, sitting area and bar are fantastic. It's just a 5 minute stroll into the very pretty main town, harbour and beaches, but there is a really lovely beach right below the hotel itself. I had a lovely stay.

We were worried with all the poor reviews, but were pleasantly surprised. Great value for money, good location, great views, spacious room with super king bed, comfy mattress, clean bedding, clean towels, staff friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again.
Hotel is looking tired in places and needs redecorating / painting, but being a busy hotel envisage it makes it difficult to carry out whilst keeping the hotel open. If you are expecting a 5 star experience, with everything crisp, fresh and new then this hotel is not for you, but if you are after somewhere to stay which is a good value for money in St Ives, in a good location, views and most importantly clean bedding, towels, comfy bed and spacious then give it a try (we booked a sea view double but room given must of been a family room with a single bed and super king bed)

Friendly staff, great views from room, spacious. Dated hotel but comfortable and cosy. Great location for Porthminster beach. Steep pathway down to beach opposite hotel. Roughly 5/10 minute walk from St Ives centre.
Shower was very weak, shower screen was tiny and bathroom floor got soaked. Bath mat was not not replaced even though this was wet through. Cleanliness was mainly okay, however parts of the room looked as though they hadn't been dusted in a long time. Windows were also dirty.
