Stayed with my dad and brother for a trip to see relatives. Fantastic rooms, great staff, superb breakfast/meals. Would 100% stay again. If you are gluten free this hotel absolutely caters for you. On arrival we received a very friendly greeting from the owners, who were just as friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay, I was immediately told that they had gone and bought gluten free bread for the breakfast(as I had messenger them prior to arrival to let them know I was gluten free) and also checked all the ingredients for the hot breakfast items and informed what I can and can’t have - this immediately put me at ease and was very appreciated and was a very nice touch for them to be so considerate about it. As for the room, comfy beds, lovely bathroom, clean, room cleaning/fresh towels etc available on request. We stayed for three nights and for two we ended up eating in at the hotel in the evening, including the really fantastic Sunday dinner which I would very much recommend. Very attentive staff/owners and really friendly, the type of people you’d happily sit and have a pint with. As for the location, it’s great for St Ives, I’ve seen a few reviews where people have said it’s “out of the way” it’s either a very short drive, or a taxi which for us was £12 each way for when we wanted to have a drink. Or, you can drive to the very nearby park and ride and take the train into St Ives for much cheaper. The breakfast was superb, easily one of the best we’ve had at a hotel, a really fantastic continental selection of pastries, juice, teas, coffee, waffles, jams, cereal etc and the hot breakfast was very very good - on the last day we woke up at around half 8 and got down to the breakfast area for about 10 to 9. No issue at all and breakfast was still served for us without any complaint from the staff/owners at all.

N/a - Loved our stay

David and Jackie were excellent, friendly hosts who made sure we knew to ask if we needed anything. The room was clean and spacious with decent bathroom and storage. Lots of room to park and very close to so many wonderful scenic areas. Cooked breakfast was also excellent.

We were just surprised that despite staying 3 nights the room was not attended to. We always keep our room tidy but generally expect that things you use are cleaned or replenished. Not a major thing but for 170 a night some touches like water in the room would be good.

The Countryman was in a good location and we liked that it was in the countryside with a garden. We appreciated having lots of room to park. Our room was comfortable with a good sized bed and lots of storage. Even though the property is beside the road it wasn’t noisy. We enjoyed the tasty breakfasts and the tea tray in our bedroom was useful. Our hosts were friendly and very helpful.

The only thing really was the electric shower which we were not good at adjusting. Also for me the spiders in the bath - but that’s my phobia! - I have the same problem here at home. Definitely the outside and garden area could be tidied up and reception areas could do with some updating sometime in the future.

The suite was very clean with a comfortable bed.Plenty of pillows and towels. The breakfast was a good varied choice and served hot. All other breakfast accoutrements were available in the nice and light breakfast dining area. The lounge area was cosy with a roaring log burner and well stocked bar. Dave and Jackie were excellent hosts giving us advice on visiting St Ives.

The room was clean and tidy and had everything we could have needed and the bathroom was very good and we could not fault anything about the room at all, we were very impressed with all aspects, a very comfy bed, a TV, tea making facility etc, what more could you want. Also the breakfast was 100% served in a really nice dining room with all the facilities we needed or could ask for. We stayed for an evening meal one night and all the food was delicious and the service was friendly and efficient. The owners and the staff went out of their way to make our stay totally enjoyable and we would not hesitate to stay there again, or recommend The Countryman to anyone who wanted an enjoyable stay in that part of Cornwall, we cannot praise this as a place to stay highly enough.

Nothing to not like as we were catered for so well you could not have asked for more and the room, bathroom were just right. the dining room was clean tidy and decorated and equiped very well so nothing to improve at all. We could not fault anything.

Small friendly family operated inn. Family room on 2nd floor is quite big. Separate toilet. Carpets in rooms and hallways/steps. Continental (fresh fruits, juice, cereals, bread, packaged croissants etc) and very tasty English (freshly made on request) breakfast. Big garden with lots of seating tables. Very tasty cream tea. Easy to reach St.Ives and other places.

Pub area is more living room style, a bit too private for our taste.. Street is a bit loud, but we were happy to have no window towards the street.

Breakfast was very good and hot maybe just have a jug of milk on the table so guests aren't having to get up and down....and maybe the dinning room could have been a bit warmer as stayed in march but overall really enjoyed the stay

Beautiful B&B, room was comfy & clean everything you needed, breakfast excellent the choice was amazing, fabulous hosts very welcoming & helpful.

Was a little disappointed that the restaurant was closed on the 2 nights we were staying, and it wasn't stated on the website. It was one of the reasons we chose the countryman. the choice of Gins was limited to just plain Gin, perhaps adding some flavoured Gins for us Gin lovers, also the road was very busy & fast making it impossible to go for a walk.

Breakfast was excellent! Loved it! Freshly cooked every morning and all good ingredients. David and Jacqueline were the best hosts, they go above and beyond to accommodate. Great family run business. The location was fantastic plenty of parking and garden space. Highly recommend.

The venue, location, the management and the hospitality extended by David and Jackie. Jackie and David own this place and have ensured that the upkeep is second to none. They both ensured that our family of 4 (with 2 small kids) were given extra care and attention and we got everything we needed. They also posted pieces of cutlery that we had left at the property back to our home address, which was a pleasant surprise. I will rate them a straight 10 on all aspects and will definitely stay at the CountryMan when we visit St. Ives again. Thanks for the amazing hospitality, Jackie and David.
